"so yeah, I don't really know what I fancy doing today" says Thomas Heaton chilling in his epic van in the mountains. You sir are a fucking winner at life, I'm going to pour myself a drink just to celebrate that, cheers!
Peter McKinnon inspired me to shoot quick and flashy, Thomas Heaton inspired me to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the world. Cheers mate, and thank you for what you do.
Couldn't agree more with this! Love Peter's dynamism and love Thomas' calm and measured style! Equally good! WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THOSE TWO COLLABORATED???!?? I for one would love to see that happen!
Dear Thomas, thank you for sharing your peace, and your happiness out on a hike with all of us. It came through very clear, in the way you spoke and in the photo you took too, that you were very present in the moment and seeing and enjoying the little things in your day. It makes my day happier, helps me pause and enjoy the beautiful aspects of the world around me right now. Thank you for this gift, and for the photo too. I will do my best to pass this gift on to others in how I live today.
5:54 Heaton is gold. He devotes so much, also, so natural and original. The BEST photography channel. Pure photography. The truth. Hoping that water didn’t burn much! Cheers from your number one fan in Brazil.
Yes this will do, Classic Heaton video . Great to see you back , play to your strengths and this is definitely your strength . Beautiful peaceful film .
A really really great video Thomas good to see you getting back to your roots of the channel. Always good to remember You don't need to travel thousand of miles to see some wonderful views in the North of England only a few hours Driving will have yourself bang in the middle of Cumbria and the Lakes District or the Yorkshire Dales and Peak District. I'm Look forward to the Scotland video's...
It's contributions of a video like this that keeps me inspired. When I watch one of your videos where there's no grand shot to be had, it reminds me that we're all in the same boat. Rolling to the whims of what our natural surroundings throw our way. Sometimes you're there at the right place, at the right time. But many times it's just like this day.
I've come to appreciate the beauty of a hike more and more. I can easily spend hours out in the wilderness without even taking out the camera. A scene needs to connect with me in a way, else it's going to be forced and I wont be happy with the result. From what I've seen it seem to be the same for you. It comes across in the video anyway, that you are at peace with what you are doing and you know that even if others will think differently it doesn't really matter because what in the end you're doing it for yourself first and foremost. In simpler words, lovely video Thomas!
Aaaaa so that's where your icey shot came from! I just assumed it was from our Rockies trip. Well spotted and once again.....you're the master of B-roll mate.
Hello Thomas, those are the kind of videos that I like the most. Local fotography, eye for detail, basic vlog no fancy editing. Enjoyed quite a lot. Keep them comming. Cheers, Stefan
A great place in beautiful weather. I climbed a snow covered Great End one winter via Central Gully, it was some walk in as most of the passes were closed and leaving the car somewhere wasn’t easy. It was a pretty good day and I had the good fortune to meet Chris Bonington on the way back down. A great image, thanks for posting a video that brings back some great memories.
Thank you Thomas! I really like the pace of the video. We are bombarded by all this fancy quick cut videos that i nearly forgot what draw me to going out, enjoying nature and taking pictures. You're style shows the beauty of a day out. Very motivating.
Two spoons up Nothing like hiking and such beautiful countryside just to find one small spot no bigger than a foot that was a very beautiful photographs
The ice and rocks; very cool shot, indeed. I believe we too often get so caught up in "getting the photo" that we forget about the journey. We all need to relax more and take the hike, so to speak, and enjoy what nature has provided for us. Keep it up Thomas. Jim
Hi Thomas. I’m from Iran and here, a lot of landscape photographers are following your videos and photos to get better pictures and also enjoying more of the nature as well. What an inspiring video it was. Thanks for all the energy and the feelings that comes from your videos.
That's my kind of day. You have become an inspiration to me not only to get out there for blend of photography and mountain walking but also the courage to carry the kit and sometimes not to use it atall or not how you intended.
This is the classic content I have always enjoyed about your channel. Good to see you out there on hikes, enjoying nature and keeping your eyes sharp for intimate compositions that most would have missed. Cheers!
I love the "new" Thomas Heaton....seeing the journey to maybe get a photograph but if ya don't who cares? Because it's about the journey. You can't take beautiful photographs if you don't go to beautiful places. Love seeing the time you spend in your kick ass van! THIS video is why I fell in love with your channel....makes me want to get out and explore! Maybe get a photo, who knows? Great to see you doing whatever you fancy! I dig it! You, sir, are an inspiration! Thank. You. :)
Another superb journal Tom, I was totally absorbed. I doubt many, I include myself, would have seen the image, it’s all to easy to be “blown away” by the grand vistas and miss those special opportunities. Great work as always.
Great day to hike Thomas, its truly inspiring when you go hiking and photographing in your backyard. Lots of us do not have massive mountains, or expensive international trips to remote locations. Creating a video in your local area truly inspires people to hike in realistic $$ hikes in our local areas. Your photo looked amazing!
My favorite type of Video, a good old hike in the Lakes. Love the walk from Seathwaite to Styhead and Sprinkling Tarns, will have to do Great End now. Cheers.
Lovely video Thomas, going back to your roots and doing more videos that brought me here in the first place. Keep inspiring mate, you're doing a grand job 👍
Hi Thomas, think I enjoyed your hike more than some of your overseas trips, no snow capped mountains, no vast seascapes or ice caves, just a good down to earth walk with nature, thanks for that, plus enjoyed seeing the van, cheers
Thomas - I think I enjoyed this video more than any other of yours I've seen. All your videos are entertaining and informative - very enjoyable and useful for an amateur tog like me - but I'm also a great walker and adore the lakes but can't get there often enough. Joining you on that hike I vicariously 'lived' every moment like I was there myself. That was wonderful. Thanks and I hope you'll do more like that, in the lakes or anywhere else! Best wishes
As soon as Mr Heaton started heading up that deserted valley in the middle of the most picturesque region of England, in the middle of Winter, heading for a peak specifically for its dramatic panoramic views you just knew he was coming back with a picture of a puddle 😂JK Thomas, love your work 😀👍
Enjoy every moment of it, pictures or not (glad I'm not the only one that enjoys the little things,I thought it was great) you're a very lucky man - I don't doubt you've worked VERY hard - with a dream job. Glad one of us has. Good on you Tom!!!
Recently Thomas you have really inspired me to get out and travel further to take landscape Photography and utilise what I have and get more creative. Thank You for being a very big inspiration to me and always providing content that I watch over and over again. :)
What I like the most in your videos, apart from the nature itself, adventure and landscapes, is that feeling of me being there. I can almost feel the fresh cold wind and frozen grass under my feet. And it is very very hard to achieve this degree of immersion especially in a simple video on youtube Bravo! As always.
You have rectified the orientation of your image this time. The one you took in Canada seemed upside down. And this image just stole my heart. Your best one for this year from my perspective.
You're going to LOOOOOVE Nepal, man. I was there last year for a month, and the landscapes are some of the most incredible I've ever seen. So fun to photograph. Make sure you look at the stars at least one night - they're crazy bright! I have an awesome image from Muktinath of the night skies. Enjoy it!
Beautifully produced video, it just oozes quality. I love the attention to detail and the audio work in all of your videos, it makes them so immersive. I must thank you for making such great, inspiring videos. Now, where's my backpack.
Having been to the Lake District back in September last year for the first time, partly because of your videos and my overall adoration to the British Isles, I really enjoyed this soothing episode for the found memories. I climbed your neighbour Great Gable and could literally see you on the other side. Thank you for this perfect Wednesday tour! The intimate shot of the pebbles and the ice is the crowning finale of this intimate episode Thomas! One final thought of your last words: Those who cannot feel the littleness of great things in themselves are apt to overlook the greatness of little things in others. Okakura Kakuzō
Such a beautiful capture! And such a beautiful day! Love your attitude - it inspired and encourages me! Thank you very much and continue the good work!
This was a great vlog! Felt very much "back to your roots". Photography was a part of it but was weighted about as equal as the adventure of being in the outdoors itself. I like that you don't try to force an image and just go with what does or doesn't work. Incidentally, I never realized the highest peaks in England were actually... well... not all that high. Also, my wife and I do a lot of camping in our travel trailer so I always like seeing your adventures in the camper van.
I was cheering all the way "Stay, stay and take a shot!". I was disappointed there was no shot of the grand vista, but was surprised for the amazing intimate shot! Great shot!
Great video. I really love your freedom. It amazes me when you go out and make only couple of images. Maybe you could start a campfire to get warm and then you would enjoy waiting for sunset!
So, I've watched a million backpacking ect. vids and have never seen that cool hack. Put a bag of food in the thermos. Long spoon and that's it. F11 HTN always kind of makes me chuckle. Very enjoyable video to watch.

Just a good old fashion Thomas Heaton video nice location nice hike nice image. Thanks for sharing.
It's all in the details, a man after my own heart. Go for a walk up some peaks and take an image or two, what could be better? love it.
@@veronicawilliams8056 did you really just spam Adam Gibbs with a link to some photography advice?? 🤣
Peter McKinnon inspired me to shoot quick and flashy, Thomas Heaton inspired me to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the world. Cheers mate, and thank you for what you do.
This is so true. I found Thomas first and Peter second. The two have inspired me so much to learn the art of video/RUclips
Whose's Peter McKinnon?
The two have really helped understand me and my camera. I know thrive to get out as much as possible
Couldn't agree more with this! Love Peter's dynamism and love Thomas' calm and measured style! Equally good! WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THOSE TWO COLLABORATED???!?? I for one would love to see that happen!

This is the kind of content that drew me to your channel in the first place. Nicely done Thomas. Cheers!
well said -classic Thomas, more of the same please!
I was going to comment that this definitely had the old vibe - a back to his roots sort of feeling.
I love this channel so much, its so gentle and mild mannered, its like the best therapy ever... just a chill dude on a ramble
Hiking 10 hrs up one of England’s biggest and most beautiful mountain. Takes photo of frozen puddle and some gravel. Nailed it!

Old school Heaton. Love everything you do, but this is where the inspiration all started for me - and for that I say thank you!
Back to the old way.. simply enjoying the outdoors and not running after a photograph.
nicely done as always..
Amazing! I from Russia and i follow you. Your video watching in all world. Good luck!) You the Best.!) Sorry for my english
You walk like there are camera elves, along the way, taking photos of your journey, ha. Fun! Thanks!

I noticed that too!
I do love these adventures Thomas , our landscapes are beautiful for hiking.
I’m away to buy a long spoon 🥄 - grand video as always 👍
This felt so raw and intimate and back to the roots. Loved every minute and the tips and advice you don’t get anywhere else.

One of my best investments ever ..... a long spoon ..... ah ah ah .... love it.
Always good to have a mental health day in winter Thomas, clears the mind and lifts the spirits.
Realy enjoy the poetic way You tell about your photography.
Brilliant stuff Thomas. Thanks for sharing the journey with us all.
A grand day out, thanks for taking us along!
Thomas, what a wonderful outlook you have in your appreciation of the simple things that being us pleasure. Great video and amazing image!

Thanks Thomas for taking us on your hike. Love the image, I agree sometimes the shot is not where you expect it to be.
Amazing video Thomas. Loved the way you've documented the hike!! Looking for more videos like this!
I thoroughly enjoyed this one, thank you. More like the old school Heaton stuff. Felt like a mini holiday watching it :-) Thanks again.
My favourite channel on RUclips. You, Mr Heaton, are a boss.
Love these kind of video's , an amazing landscape and a great details shot!!!
Simple but intimate. Loved seeing the details of your day. For me, one of your best videos.
My favorite type of Video, a good old hike in the Lakes. Love the walk from Seathwaite to Styhead and Sprinkling Tarns, will have to do Great End now. Cheers.
Simple, abstract and calming.
Some of the small stones resemble a heart shape.
Getting back to where it started. This is what brought me here at the start👍🏻
Lovely video Thomas, going back to your roots and doing more videos that brought me here in the first place. Keep inspiring mate, you're doing a grand job 👍
These are the best videos just like the old onse that inspired me to go to sprinkling tarn.
Thank you Thomas
You are just performing the master of B-roll!
Great sharing your thoughts & adventures.
By the way: nice one shot.

A classic Heatonian video. Nicely done.
Enjoyed the video; mirrors my style of photography; combining hiking and photgraphy.
What a Lovely, Lovely day out, thanks so much for sharing :)
I love the outings that feature the van. I’m a van geek.
Great to see you out in your campervan enjoying the scenery again 👍
You should totally come on a campervan under the stars mission in Wales
Great vid, good to see you have got your mojo back. Mountain therapy at its best. 👍
True Inspiration is what you are Heaton!! Superb video
Loved the image. Love the ice patterns and color!

Old School Heaton, I like it. Nice visit back home through your vlog! 25 dislikes though, wtf is wrong with people.
Outstanding shot. A keeper perhaps? Thank you for inspiring me to take the camera out and shoot!
Nice Vlog Thomas just shows you can have a great hike & still come away with a image that's
unexpected but just as detailed .
Thanks for letting me tag along, Thomas. Beautiful vistas Cheers, mate!
Another awesome image Thomas. Thanks for taking us along.
