I always enjoy teachings about prayer. When reading the Bible though I see that prayer is more the umbrella term for petitions, supplications, intercessions, thanksgiving, praise and adoration. I find it not so clearly defined (despite strong's) also when researching petitions versus supplications...seems like it is the same meaning but then why using two different words. I guess Hebrew has a much deeper word meaning and English can't manage to cover the depth of it.

Wonderful teaching on prayer. Though the definition at the end wasn’t very clear. ...’Legal rights’. Prayer is a ‘plea’ to God not demands; taking clue from people like Moses, Daniel etc and even Jesus. It’s done with humility: the prayer of the Pharisee who does everything right and thinks he has a legal right when he prayed, but Jesus said his prayer was not answered unlike the tax collector who went to God in humility.
