There are licensors like haldor topsoe shell, lummus, UOP that prepare the basic engineering package. Then there are companies like technip, tecnimont which do the detail engineering. There there is process technologist companies which develop the technology. They usually hire PhDs for research work. Then they are companies that do EPC, EPCM and PMC projects.
