    Hey, how does the M32 gearbox feel like with these mods? Suposedly its not suited for high torques thats why alot of Tbi s have breakdowns in that area i hear.

    • @akosszabo8382
      @akosszabo8382 2 года назад +3

      Thats not m32, M32 only for 1.9 jtdm 8/16V and the JTS engines. 2.4 3.2 and the Tbi have a different gearbox, the F40.

      @@akosszabo8382 nah man, all Tbi 159 Alfas came with M32 unless you or someone did a costly swap in yours.

    Is the 159 a good buy for daily driving? Stands between this, Jaguar XF and maybe Giulietta.

    • @serpentcrown

      Hello my friend! This is in Witten, Germany. I would say the 159 Tbi ist the best daily driving car. This is why I have the 159 - it’s fun, looks very pretty and perfect for daily use

    • @holgi4185
      @holgi4185 11 месяцев назад

      The TBI is the most vulnerable engine in the 159.And it also has by far the worst fuel consumption in relation to power

    • @manuelcatalano2412
      @manuelcatalano2412 10 месяцев назад

      @@holgi4185that's not necessarily true. Just like every engine, it depends how it's been used and maintained. My 159 TBI has 200k km on the clock, and it hasn't lost a single horsepower, nor has it ever broken down. The 1.9 and 2.2 JTS were famous for leaking oil, and the 3.2 wasn't that good either. The diesels were good that's why they sold a lot of them....Regarding fuel, I manage to get 14.0 km/l so it's not bad for daily usage. At the end of the day, I'm super happy of my purchase :)

    Doesn't the pops and bangs hurt the turbo? What are the risks?

    • @serpentcrown
      @serpentcrown  2 года назад +2

      Hi, don´t really know the risks. I already removed the pops and bangs because of the sound. I like the "normal" exhaust sound of my Tbi better.

    • @Drosba
      @Drosba Год назад

      I'm like, a year late, but... The pops and bangs are excess of fuel that burns in the exhaust, so it wont hurt the turbo. You can have them in NA cars too, just modify the tune and add fuel during engine braking at the revs that you would like to hear them. You can also get them in carburated cars with richer mixtures and timing tricks, but it has some risk. The best way to get a pop (only one, though) in carburated engines is to rev the engine up and at redline cut the ignition, pump the gas pedal one ore more times if you want a bigger pop and then just before the engine goes to idle revs, turn the ignition back on, you might blew your exhaust off, so proceed with caution ;).

    • @stanradu-andrei4020
      @stanradu-andrei4020 Год назад

      @@Drosbayes, but my worry is that ignition pop can hurt the turbo long term because of the excess pressure in the exhaust

    • @serpentcrown
      @serpentcrown  3 месяца назад

      @@pettinhouse why?

    • @pettinhouse
      @pettinhouse 3 месяца назад

      @@serpentcrown The manual gearbox in the Alfa 159, known as the M32, has a maximum torque capacity of around 320-340 Nm. With the increase of 45 horsepower, you're approximately adding about 72 Nm of torque, bringing the total to around 392 Nm. This is why the 159 is limited to 200 horsepower, while the Giulietta, using a more robust C635 gearbox, can handle up to 240 horsepower with a similar engine setup.
      Additionally, the clutch in the 159 TBI is known to be at its torque limit, and you would need to consider upgrading to a reinforced clutch. The turbocharger in the 159 TBI is also relatively small, which further limits durability under increased stress. It's likely neither the gearbox, the clutch, nor the turbo will last very long with these modifications.
      It's often best to keep cars as designed by the engineers, rather than modifying them based on non-professional advice. Engineers design vehicles with specific tolerances for performance and durability
