This is why people are saying exclusivity will end because if Microsoft and Sony remain Multiplatform why would Nintendo not want a piece of that pie this is the future of gaming play where u want but games will cost more
As part of the ABK case Nintendo was offered a 10year deal for COD on the platform. Xbox is waiting for switch 2, and you watch COD will be a launch title. And the other live service games will follow eagerly. Xbox is effectively going to multiply COD revenue even more with switch 2. Even more, playstation loses COD marketing rights on 31/12/2024...
That means sony has been 100% depending on games like cod and Fortnite to finance other titles. No wonder they wanted to stop the abk deal so badly regardless of what deal Microsoft made😂
Trust me they aren't depending on them to finance other titles. The subscription service alone of PS Plus made them a revenue of over $24 billion in 2023. Sony has cash believe me.
Iirc Sony was only getting 20% of the revenue. Microsoft gave them that extra 10% recently. So they made 800 million only getting 20%. And this current COD has been insane so just imagine how much Microsoft is making from PlayStation sales alone
Microsoft must have made crazy money from COD already just wait till its a launch title for switch2 and sells millions more. The next financial report will be interesting i wonder just how much they made from gamepass users with micro transactions.
And now with the Intergalactic star trolling concerned fans they might have another concord situation on their hands. I’m sure it won’t be another 400 million dollars bomb but another failure is another failure.
It's funny because about 6 to 7 years ago I told some playstation fans that they had no multiplayer games and it was a problem for them. Now they are trying to get into multiplayer games and have has pretty mediocre success to this point. They are way too late to this party.
The profit share for Xbox is also increasing since 2022, as the percentage of all revenue on the playstation platform that comes from live service games has been increasing year on year with the last update at 51%. Flip that around and less than half of the revenue, 49% is attracting normal games. Thats less than 32 million consoles of the entire userbase buying single player games that cost the larger part of Sony's 30% cut to make. And that revenue is reduced by running costs. Playstation does not have a comparable 70% live service game other than destiny2 which is winding down in popularity while there are at least 6 other live service games from Xbox on playstation as well as COD which leaves less opportunities for Sonys own products. That 30% of the 3rd party single player games of the other 49% is not generating enough to compensate for Xbox's multiple live service on their own platform. This is why Sony has moved to PC, but unfortunately they are not selling in large enough numbers to compensate. And next year live services might make up 52%, 53% or more as the trend is accelerating. And the media and playstation fanboys celebrating every new xbox game like Indiana Jones (which Wikipedia states was part of a disney deal to be multiplatform) are blissfully unaware that each sale of each Xbox game on that 49% is further tightening Xbox's grip around playstation's heart.
If $800 million is PlayStation's 30% cut, the 70% that goes to ABK is a bit over *1.86 billion.* And of course, it's way more if the split is actually 80/20.
Playstation get a percentage cut of their own platform COD expenditure. So they get 20% of the money spent on COD on Playstation. Activision get the other 80%. Plus 100% of all of the revenue on Xbox. Plus 70% of the revenue on Steam. Plus 100% of COD Mobile. If this amount of money is THAT significant to Playstation and they're realistically getting less than 10% of all of it.... They just lost the gaming wars.
Its a 70/30 split. When that Lulu lady said Playstation should just take the deal because it was better than what ABK was giving them(which was 80/20), she was talking about the revenue split going back before Bobby strong-armed them into 80/20
They really don't need it right now, if they play the slow game, next gen will be only Xbox and Nintendo. I don't see Sony surviving flop after flop in their 2 main income sources ( spiderman spin off movies and play station 1st party games) I don't think the camera division is enough to carry the other 2 divisions
And fanboys swore Xbox was going to keep COD off of PlayStation. And miss out on 70% of all that revenue that can go toward more games? Ha! Anyway, day one on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. This is cause for celebration. The experiment worked(duh).
Honestly the way Call of duty is currently dying right now losing players by the day, I think Xbox bought them at the wrong time. But its now their problem.
@@saltwagon2676 I mean the steam numbers say it all. 30-40k gone almost every month but sure I'm coping. COD used to be fun now SBMM killed it. Now it has AI pictures, crappy glitches and just not fun at all. The sad part is that COD HQ on Steam is 7 games in 1. Because Activision wanted to make their numbers look good. Thats MW 2019, warzone, Vanguard, MW2, MW3, Cold War, and BO6. The max 24 hour player count was a little over 100k. Divide that by 7 games, and that gives you about 14,300 players per game. Which we know most of it will be on Warzone and BO6. Sooooo yeahhhhhhhhh. But I'm the one with the problems sure buddy.

So basicly, Microsoft cut the root of Sony funds.
If they cut PlayStation's cut from 30% to 20%, definitely.

I find that pretty funny, they won't shut up, so their competition just went ahead and crippled them while they were busy mouthing off.
Jim Ryan explicitly said it and everyone downplayed it like it wasn't true 🤷🏻
