Unlike the Speedtail, which is illegal to drive in the United States, the Sabre is built exclusively for the US market. Since the car will not be sold globally, MSO was able to incorporate "ideas and innovations that global homologation would not permit."
The Sabre is based on the limited edition Senna, limited to just 15 units with each customer having a say in the development process. For reference, McLaren only built 500 examples of the Senna globally. It bears some resemblance to the Senna but features unique styling cues like a ventilated hood, slim headlights, side skirts, rear diffuser, center-mounted exhaust, tailfin, and massive rear wing.
There's only one interior shot, which shows two-tone Alcantara upholstery in black and red with a cool white pattern on the seats. Both side sills are also wrapped in Alcantara, while most of the dashboard appears to be bare carbon fiber.
McLaren confirms that the Sabre is their most powerful non-hybrid to date. A 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 produces 824 horsepower and 590 lb-ft, outmuscling the Elva. With so much power on tap and a low curb weight thanks to its Senna underpinnings, the Sabre hits a top speed of 218 mph, making it the fastest two-seat McLaren of all time.
