  • A weak magnet is used to deviate the cathode rays generated by a Cathode-ray Tube. The north pole is moved close to the tube along the horizontal plane and the rays go down, then the south pole is moved close to the tube along the horizontal plane and the rays go up.
    After this an electric field is applied between the deflecting plates with the positive pole up (red wire) and the negative pole down (black wire). The potential difference is 120 V and the rays, which are composed of negatively charged electron, bend up toward the positively charged plate. This effect can be opposed or enhanced by a magnet. When the electric field is removed the rays become horizontal again.
    Cathode-ray Tube is mod. DE453-3S Kathodenstrahlröhre mit Spalt from Fruhmann GmbH

    Can be used to propel a space craft in the vacuum of space - almost zero resistance in the vacuum of space.

    The term “electrostatic” is a misnomer. It’s longitudinal-dielectric because it involves the dielectric field and standing longitudinal waves, while electricity is transverse electro-magnetic waves. So we really should stop the spread of that term wherever possible.

    This machine is emitting X-ray energy

    • @marcocianci504
      @marcocianci504  3 месяца назад +3

      It probably does emit some internally but a negligible amount can escape the glass envelope of the tube: running at 5 kV the 99.9999% of the most energetic X-rays produced by Bremsstrahlung are adsorbed by only 0.5 mm of borosilicate glass. Attenuation due to 1 m of air is also very high (99.222%) so these tubes are practically safe. Things get different with higher voltages though.

    Can't general harmful x rays?

    • @marcocianci504
      @marcocianci504  7 месяцев назад +4

      Yes, some X-Rays can be generated by Bremsstrahlung but operating under 5 kV they are of the soft type having a spectral energy range from 100 eV to 5 keV and are easily absorbed in air and by the glass tube itself so there is not a real concern in this case.

      “The Final Theory: Rethinking Our Scientific Legacy “, Mark McCutcheon for proper physics including the CAUSE of gravity, electricity, magnetism, light and well... everything. A proton is a collection of 1836 expanding electrons and add a bouncing expanding electron makes a hydrogen atom. “G” calculated from first principles- the hydrogen atom- in 2002 in said reference. Expanding electrons/atoms do it all.
