      @@johnstarks65 Im from Denmark and there are women who are enslaved and forced to be prostitution and men forced to hard labour here. It happens in pretty much in all european countries, it just doesnt get much media attention. People from east europe are promised a job and when they arrive they get their passport taken away from them, which leaves them with 0 options. This stuff happens, but it is hard to say how much it happens.
      But there are far worse countries such as North Korea Pakistan with millions of slaves.

      @@AmarisAngel That's not true at all. If you think about it logically it makes more sense that most African slaves were sold by other Africans. Europeans did not know the layout of the African bush, the natives did, Europeans didn't know the languages on the continent, the natives did, the Europeans were not immune to certain diseases, the natives were. The only reason the Atlantic slave trade flourished is because African kings and tribal leaders were greedy and saw the arrival of Europeans as an opportunity to sell people from rival kingdoms and criminals and have them shipped away forever while simultaneously getting fancy luxuries like alcohol and guns. There's a reason it was called a slave TRADE. The trade being the selling of African slaves by African kingdoms in exchange for European items.

I am not saying Europeans were overall the worse oppressors in history, but they were in a certain very creepy and horrifying aspect.

      Also, the slaves social position was different in the Arab world. The children of slaves were not necessarily also slaves like the Atlantic slave trade and social mobility was possible . I just Googled this and learned that an average sailing ship averaged about eight knots an hour, which translates to just over nine MPH. So that would mean that one could smell a slave ship as it was about ten miles out to sea. Is this possible? Please understand. This is my only point of contention with this video. Slavery was reprehensible! How we could have ever allowed it in our country is beyond belief. And for over three hundred years!

    As long as the human race has been around in 95% of it's excistence slavery was normal/ legal... I'm Dutch and our people (a traders nation) traded slaves for centuries from the Gold Coast and Senegal. It is horrific for me to understand ( a sort of holocaust) but all nations did it. Ther Romans, Germanic tribes, the Arabs (they traded in white slaves) and the Azteks and African tribes... As a human race we should look back at our history and remind that we evolved and abolished this primitive system of slavery.. A true Christian, Jew or Muslim doesn't own slaves nor trades them..

    Now we are used to say that one could do anything with his slave. But absolutely not everything, what you want to do, could be done. There was public morality, social and religious foundations, different kind of game rules. It was impossible to fry a black man and to eat him, for example. And a lot of things - including, it would seem, useful and even necessary for mankind - could not be done with a slave, as it was forbidden by society.

    Who are the savages here?!
    I imagine there were always opponents to slavery. I imagine in those days when it was commonplace, they were regarded by the mainstream in much the same way we regard vegans nowadays.
    We have come a long way collectively, but still have much to learn.

    • @johnlocke4695
      @johnlocke4695 4 года назад

      You can't compare veganism to slavery. Slavery is abolished because it was written "all men were created equal" in Constitution. And humans are omnivores in nature. It is common to eat other animals in the food chain.

    • @myfrequencies1912
      @myfrequencies1912 4 года назад

      @@johnlocke4695 I believe slavery was "abolished" (legally speaking) because people realised it was a horrible thing to do another living being.
      Truth be told human slavery has not been abolished in actuality because it's still common place the world over. It continues because many people still think it's perfectly acceptable, including many of the slaves themselves! They fully consent to their slavery.
      Same with eating animals. Most people find it perfectly acceptable. (That's the comparison I guess I am making & I think it is a legitimate one).
      The interesting thing for me is that the general trend among the collective is away from this kind of parasitic behaviour. It may never be eradicated completely, (I don't think our future is "vegan", for example) but thankfully human parasitism tends to be less popular, & less extreme as time goes on.
      Peace.

    • @johnlocke4695
      @johnlocke4695 4 года назад +1

      @@myfrequencies1912 No, your comparison isn't legitimate. Because humans eating non- veg isn't solely parasitic in nature. Because every animal depends on other animals. Even god (Jesus) isn't a vegan. I'm Indian and so many people practice veganism since ancient times, its a part of their tradition. And yet the majority of people eating non - veg in India. My point is the same thing will happen to the entire world. Small groups of people may practice veganism in future but non- veg isn't going anywhere or it won't be criminalized like slavery was.

      @@myfrequencies1912 well. Corporations are paying money to employees for work, isn't it? I agree there is a bargain issue on minimum wage. But you should look both sides. For example amazon is biggest company in the world with $1 trillion dollars. But in reality amazon don't have trillion dollars because trillion dollars is just valuation. There profit will be only in billions after all expenses and reinvestment. And they too have competition thats what keeping them better, so we can't expect them to pay higher always. Recently jeff bezos got $24 billion richer but he could loss that money in days if amazon stock price goes down.
