Sending some love to the people of Russia from the US state of Connecticut! I have been reading about the heroes of the Great Patriotic War for about 45 years. These wonderful, beautifully acted and directed films help everyone to understand Russia's WW2 sacrifices and achievements. And documentary series like Soviet Storm are great too! Love you all! Michael (my real name)
Im really enjoying this show. We don’t get these show in the US. Keep them coming with the English subtitles. And thanks for putting these on RUclips!!!
Very good serie! And more because its from our big neighbor Russia, Really nice to watch something which is not Hollywood! It is kind of strange because the looks like it was made here in Sweden, same nature!! Glory to the brave!
As Frenchmen I feel a lot of gratitude to all fighters and civilians of the Great Patriotic War. It is difficult for the new generations to understand how were the people of that time. Therefore, this serie has a great value as it let us become, like brothers, sisters, fathers and sons of those we owe so much debt. May friendship prevail in Europe. Long life to Russia. Hurrah, Hurrah, Hurrah !
Yes, great people that let us remember Fascism was mainly defeated by the Russian people in Moscow, Stalingrad, Kursk, Berlin. The price of the blood that I wish no one should experience again.
The "small" difference is that the soviets were fighting for their motherland against the dark force of Nazism, and the Americans, in Vietnam were... on second thought if you compare the Vietnamese with the Russians it does make sense
Great show! The execution really sad that pilot didn't deserve that. I guess that's the Soviet Union in 1943. That was stone cold awesome the way Lyda took down the punk robber.
Which is why the raf and even rfc before that had combat tours to rest pilots. They could then teach the New pilots at training units and operational training units, before they were posted to combat unit. It meant experience was kept and leading crew rested
Great series! And it doesn't matter which WWII Russian war show you watch, the Political Officers are always instant villains!! How did the Russian military function????
yeah...neither of these armies really paid attention to the psychological health of their soldiers...and actually that has improved overall. I think it's fair to say. 252 battle missions...you're going looney by then!
Natalia Meklin - 980 combat missions, female pilot of the 588-Night Bomber Regiment ("Night Witches" is an unofficial of the German soldiers name for this women's aviation regiment of Red Army ), awarded the Gold Star of Hero, the highest military award in the Red Army during the War II
Raf had operational tours in a combat unit, It allowed pilots to be rested and pass their experiences to new training pilots in training units and operational training units. It also meant the airforce itself was extremely experienced as a whole. The Luftwaffe themselves said the toughest front for them.was the Kanal. This doesn't not mean the vice wasn't heroic or effective. Reading about Lydia Litvak, after being wounded in spring 1943...that girl needed a long rest. Unfortunately like Lyda in the tv series , came back far too soon and was lost in combat
Love these modern Russian WW2 movies. But they break three important war movie rules: explosions look too pretty, combat doesn't need music, and the men's haircuts are wrong (especially the Germans.)
viejo youtube tiene una funcion de traducir automaticamente subitutlos, ahi esta , le das click a donde esta el "engranaje" de opciones y ahi lo encuentras
You mean like the Americans did in December 1941, the raf used e shaped sandbags bunkers dispersed around the field. It is one of the reasons the Luftwaffe struggled to destroy aircraft on the ground 1940
So in this story a pilot has 252 combat missions and shot for being tired. The raf were very sensible, they had combat tours. Experienced pilots were rotated back to operational.yeah ing units to teach combat flying to the new pilits. It aLso s why the Germans said the raf were the best they faced and the hardest for t the channel. The Soviet pilots were extremely brave and many like kozedub were very good. Lilya litviak came back to early after being injured in spring 1943, should have been rested.
Yeah, that is a sad part. I tried to read about Russian civil war. But the amount of fractions- reds, whites, greens, blacks...and intervention troops for various land, that fought each other, gave me a headache
There were more than a million casualties for the Soviets during battle of Stalingrad. 13,000 is ~1% of that. US and UK soldiers didn't face battles like that, still their desertion rate was almost equal. And dire times require dire solutions.
@@jayantasen2406 He didn't desert. He had a mental breakdown. They didn't treat men or.women as humans in the soviet union under stalin. As long as he was successful in battle he was a hero, but when he broke down under lack of sleep his mind could not bounce back so quickly. Today I think lack of sleep for days under constsant fierce airial battle conditions, the brain does NOT SNAP BACK and he was not a deserter, HE DID NOT RUN AWAY, for that HE WAS UNJUSTLY EXECUTED. STALIN WAS A KNOWN PSYCOPATH. HE HAD HIS TOP MILITARY MURDERED BEFORE HITLER INVADED AND WAS TOTALLY UNPREPARED FOR THE INVASION, HENCE HIS BRUTALITY AND PARANOIA.
@@marypaquet3372 I was replying to the comment, mate. And yes, Stalin was paranoid in his later years. When apparently the whole world is making plans against you that isn't hard to develop. But regular people weren’t treated as humans in the USSR? That is a blatant lie resulting from capitalist propaganda.
It is a painful show that a air person having 47 war experience have executed to death by tribunal. What kind of tribunal it is? or it is a distortion of fact. It was demanded and achieved in the Tzar's army even that dead sentence cannot be executed, but in Red Army that cannot be return. So fur History is concerned dead sentence is only given to those who are treaters and a willful and deliberate treaters only.
Can show evidence, no, History tells different story, study Anna Lui Strong an American Journalist, study Bernard Shaw's " Stali and Soviet Socia;ism", study Bertold Brecht, Egar Snow, also an American Journalist and many more. See this propaganda for a purpose to hide the drawback of Capitalism, You might not agree, but no need of further comments please. Even if you comment I shall not reply.
I think it's for the sake of drama. The core of drama is injustice. Something has to be unfair, or something must happen that is unfair, otherwise no-one has reason to be upset and to fight another. As historical fiction, I expect it's for balance, to not portray Stalin's rule as all benign. But it is also another ancient trick with epic stories, that the heroes must face threats from the enemy side, and from their own side (like the Political officer).
The count not being executed is much more surprising, almost unbelievable, than Mikhailev being executed. When in the doubt, the soviets operated on the premise better to execute one hundred innocents than to miss one guilty
These series and indeed films are fantastic,,, but why oh why do the directors have an obsession with barking Dogs , they are on every film and ever series constantly !! AGHHHHH
this is a bit too much,Shooting as a execution, are you kidding me?! As the doctor said, the war was too much to him,he needed a break. Not all people can handle these traumas.Ik this is a series

Do you know about your own countrymen that fought with the Red Army on the Eastern Front? The Air squadrons?
Yes, the Normandie-Yemen Squadron
charles Breger Thank your for your country men's service to the cause of defeating Fascism.
Yes, great people that let us remember Fascism was mainly defeated by the Russian people in Moscow, Stalingrad, Kursk, Berlin. The price of the blood that I wish no one should experience again.
charles Breger Remember, the Soviet people. ;)
Ethnic Russians only constituted 50% of the total population of the USSR.
Just like Vietnam. You come home and everything is petty and stupid and nobody understands...this is a wonderful series.

Great show! The execution really sad that pilot didn't deserve that. I guess that's the Soviet Union in 1943. That was stone cold awesome the way Lyda took down the punk robber.

Historical fact: On October 9, 1942, all commissars (Political Officers) in Red Army were abolished by Stalin.

Poor Senior Lieutenant Mikhalev. This is why political officers shouldn't lead a military; they're idealists, not realists.

Я не могу воспринимать этих артистов.. Все наиграно . Фильмы снятые во времена союза смотрелись правдивее.
"Yevgenia" is a very good-looking girl, but not a very good actress. And, unfortunately, there is no chemistry btw Zena and Ilia
i would have killed both...
Although the series was good, that scene was a crock of bs 28:22
