Dave Roberts was not trying to rub anything in, guys. I just watched that interview (which is why your video came up in my feed), and that’s completely not the vibe I’m picking up, there. All the analysts had the Padres (and the Mets, and the Yankees) picked, just from a starting pitching perspective. Dave has won 2 champions in LA, guys; whatever negative feelings you’re attributing to him from his personal history, with the Padres, I highly doubt that matters to him now. Now, I don’t personally know the guy, so maybe I am just flat-out wrong, but listen to the rest of that interview (not just the part about the Padres), and I think you’ll see the bigger picture of what this World Series meant to him. San Diego was a part of that path, but it was not the center of his universe en route to that title.
The Padres made it too personal. Sure it's a rivalry. But too much peacocking chest puffing and preening. That got the Dodgers going. It's good to have swagger but don't get arrogant. Stuff can and will go sideways.
As a Dodger's fan, i'll respectfully disagree with you on the pouring salt in the wound comment. Padres were a much tougher team than the yankees and from what i've seen, he seems to have the upmost respect for the Padres organization that he was part of for all those years. Just my 2 cents.
I'm a die-hard Dodgers fan and even I thought the Padres would win that series. Dave Roberts is NOT pouring salt on the wound, he's being honest. Once we got through the NLDS I knew our chances of winning it all skyrocketed. The 2024 Dodgers just had that little extra toughness that had been missing. If San Diego hadn't made the NLDS so personal, I have very little doubt that WS trophy would be in SD right now.
This is coming from a lifelong Dodger fan, and I have seen many interviews from Roberts. This is definitely genuine respect from him. He is also not disrespecting both NY teams when he says that the toughest team to get through was the Padres. This may have been the Padres team to win it all. National League was super tough this year (even Philly kicked the crap out of the Doyers this season before they tailed off).
How was Roberts rubbing it in?? He legitimately gave you a compliment 😂 he literally is saying that you guys were the toughest team to beat during this years postseason 😂 yall are just hella hella salty, trying to believe that everyone in the Dodgers organization lives and breathes that the padres are always on their minds. Sorry to burst your bubble but they’re not. You guys had the lead in the series, got way too cocky, got blanked for 24 innings and yall lost. Simple as that. Padre fans be tryna grasp on to everything 😂
SD Padres were tough because they had health, they had the pitching and hitting and defense. Which is why the Dodgers had a tough time with them. Do I think the Padres were the better team in that time, I think they had the pitching staff to beat the Dodgers because the Dodgers pitching was decimated..BUT the Dodgers stepped up when it matter and completely shut down the Padres in games 4 and 5. That's what elite teams do. I think once the Dodgers beat the Padres it felt like they weren't going to lose and they didn't. Also yes the Padres antics didn't do anything positive for them, the Dodgers stayed focused on what mattered and the Padres didn't.
As a dodgers fan, I tip my hat to the padres that they were the best we've face, and I think Dave is doing the same. It's an objective fact that ya'll were the biggest threat between the Mets and Yankees. If you think this is "salt in the wound", the problems on you. You want us to just spit in your face next time or what?
@@erikhancock98569 just like against the Phillies two years ago. You may not believe this but had the Padres upset the Dodgers again, they would have lost to the Mets in the NLCS.
if the dodgers beat the padres how the fuck could the padres be the best team. the best team in baseball won the chip. its literally that open and close. other teams dont deserve hype for losing. teams dont deserve praise for losing. what players do during team losses truly is insignificant. the only thing that matters in sports is winning
6:40 Padres never had the Dodgers on the ropes.. A team down 2-1 in a 5 game series is not on the ropes. Many teams have come back to win being down 2 games to 1... Now If Game 4 was competitive in any way then I'd agree. But it wasn't.. Not even in the slightest.
the NL were the stronger league while the two hottest teams in the 2nd half were the padres, and mets. in the AL the only problem were probably the astros, o's but they were cut short for an easy road for yankee ws. Padres were stronger than the Mets. the NL teams were stronger than the yankees.
San Diego has to stop viewing the Dodgers has the white whale, and focus on the long-term prize. The one year they beat us in the playoffs, but they flamed out in the next series, having spent all their emotion and energy.
Dodgers are giving the padres their flowers and thier fans don’t know how to handle it. It’s called respect 😂

I agree he managed his ass off to save his job!!! Went from a he can’t win a regular season championship to a HOF!!! That’s crazy!!
They are not rubbing it in. If you would like to see what rubbing it in looks like from the Dodgers, please refer to the Yankees.
The Padres made it too personal. Sure it's a rivalry. But too much peacocking chest puffing and preening. That got the Dodgers going. It's good to have swagger but don't get arrogant. Stuff can and will go sideways.
They just didn’t get it done. If the bats weren’t cold the last two games against the Dodgers, they would have won
@@ericradford2142cease cost the pods the series, 2 shit starts,
@@ericradford2142😂 The Padres bats didn't go cold. Dodgers pitching completely shut them down. Padres had no chance.
@ Dodgers bullpen game in game 4 did the Padres in. It’s on to 2025.
@ericradford2142 it's hard to beat a very good team ( 3 hof mvp players), 3 straight games, ps- game 5 was tight, it wasn't a blowout,

As a Dodgers fan I also felt like the Padres series was going to be the toughest test. Had we not been so full of injuries, maybe not so much.
As a Dodgers fan Robert's wasn't lying we saw the padres higher than the Yankees

If the Padres miraculously somehow beat LA they would have probably come up short against the Mets. That's the kind of thing that happens to SD.
@@erikhancock98569 just like against the Phillies two years ago. You may not believe this but had the Padres upset the Dodgers again, they would have lost to the Mets in the NLCS.
It’s true. Dave Robert’s post season experience in the playoffs was the X factor.
I said it on our dodgers nation channel. I said whoever won that series was winning it all. Those were the 2 best teams in the bigs
this is a huge compliment to the Padres. Kinda obvious?

you cant be serious
How would you feel if you didn't eat breakfast?
100% on point. Just to think Padres were that close on winning the World Series. 1 game to beat the Dodgers and they buckled.
You're the reason you guys are called the Madres
SD doesn’t have the players who know what it takes to win big games…
Browner was talking all that sh*t too lmao
Y’all deserve that L
Browner is the least deserving sports talk show "host" in the business. He's a cartoon character
I think them winning two out of three to win the division helped them win that series.
Padres were the best team heading in because the Dodgers were down 4 starting pitchers... next year, they are all coming back!

Clearly the fraudres weren’t the best team. The best team won the WS
Padres are clowns. They talk trash instead of winning games. They are done. Old and done.
Yo daddy’s a clown yo 👀
So bitter lol.
