  • A little bit of catching up on the build, swapping a ford 8.8 from a 2007 Ford Explorer into the E46. Of course it didnt come without its own issues... but I was able to get it in the car and functioning just in time for an event. Half of the video was shot before Final Bout SSE and the rest is between then and Gridlife Midwest event, so there was a ton of changes that had to be made.
I apologize in advance for the lack of clarity on the subframe itself, but you get the idea, and I hope this prepares you for your own swap.

Seems Legit also offers full "drop in" 8.8 subframe kits and a ton of other Bmw goodies on their website so please check them out!

Incredible the amount of testing that goes into this to not have problems. When you figure it all out it will be so worth it !!!!

@@AndersonDrift you and Cory misko are my heroes . His car because hey kept the m54b30 which is what I have. And you because it's the swap I want 🤣🤘🤘. Tbh I think the most cost effective way is keep it low boost about 300/350 wheel and save money on tires. Versus this insane swap 👍 mad respect bro. Would love to see this car rip in person. But I'm in Vegas so keep poppin them videos !

Interesting. I am also putting an explorer 8.8 into my e46 by modifying the subframe but my diff only has one front mount and fits without cutting the bottom out. 3.73 locker too, I feel lucky

Those are typically not as strong because of the single mount in the front is more prone to breaking off. You need 2007+ explorer or a cobra diff.

@@AndersonDrift really? I have one of those here too but it's open and not the ratio I want... The rear cover looks different too, no fins

@@drewmurray2583 the explorer diff cover is also stronger I've heard too. And you can just weld the open diff for drifting that's what is in my car

@@drewmurray2583 you probably have a cobra diff or something

Nice installation video. If you had gone with true rear coilovers rather than maintaining the divorced setup would that have removed your clearancing issues?
