I've never trusted a word out of Fisker's mouth ever since they lied to investors by claiming that they made a huge breakthrough in their solid state battery research, only to then quietly announce that they were abandoning it entirely because the first 80% of making a solid state battery is easy but the last 20% is really really hard if not impossible. They knew full well that their supposed "breakthrough" was meaningless, and were 100% just trying to pump up their stock price.

Think of all those Mullen investors who get lied to weekly ! David Michery makes it up as he goes along. Think your being a bit hard on Henrik at least they have a go at it. He only tells people what the guys that work for them tell him. Difference is he has worked in the business for at least 30 years and has earned the respect of many even if they may not particularly like him.

Loss per unit sold is calculated by taking corporate losses, and dividing it by the amount of cars it sells. That does not mean that the cars are sold at a loss. It means that the margin on the cars sold does not yet equal corporate expenditure. (Sell more cars!)

The EV business is crashing its already over the cliff this year.
Too many negative experiences of users coming to light.
One Tesla owner of a 7 year old 60,000 mile Model S who changed his battery already for $32K has also had: 2x drive motors fail 2x LCD panels leak 5x door handles. It eats tyres. His car has been for sale since August 2023.. He has had no one interested. He says that if he hasn't sold the Tesla by the end of February... (by the time his new ICE arrives) He's going to drive it to the scrap yard.

BYD and MG are imported from China, however, MG priced their vehicles to meet the market, the little known BYD are priced up there with European brands that have been around for decades. In NZ the atto3 sells like hot cakes, and has only recently been overtaken by the MG4, both these are the most 'affordable' evs in NZ, we are closer to China freight wise.

No idea what is up with the accounting stuff, but issues with a new car by a new company sounds normal. It sounds like the regen braking software was weird. If that is all this was and it was fixed with an over the air update, its a non issue. If the car was reviewed as junk, that would matter, but reviews are pretty good. What shocks me is Nikola was complete bs and would not die and Fisker has released a car people actually like and INSTANTLY some people are saying, game over. The set of cars they have look like exactly what people want to fill some gaps. Some random lawsuit coming up because someone lost money on a stock is another laughable thing to bring up. Every time ANY stock drops there is some group of lawyers that are going to say you misled the investors and that they lost money boo hoo. Remember the short seller that was crying on the news because he lost a bunch of money... None of this adds up yet. Plus, Tesla stock is also on the decline through all this. What is Tesla dead too because a bunch of rideshare idiots in Chicago cant do the math on cold = bad. That entire thing causes the entire EV industry to take a big dip down. There is tons of news out right now that nobody wants an EV, which is nuts. Its all this media hype garbage. With Fisker, at best we have a bunch of speculation on what is going on. Cash burn is a part of a startup, its not a measure of success, they have not started yet. Its a lot of weirdly loose ideas getting thrown around here. Too many channels are using words like BREAKTHROUGH and GAME CHANGER when covering battery news. The reality is, its a slow process. We certainly are not there yet. When we can charge fast, weigh far less, have a safe battery and the cost is about half of what the batteries cost now, in a car you can actually buy, then we are in GAME CHANGER range. That is a good distance off because its not 1 thing we need fixed, but its coming down the road.

Fisker appears to be walking dead and the chance that a white knight will show up to save the company from actual death is negligible. Still, the problem here is that Fisker has very shallow pockets and that the company proceeded based on a mistaken strategic assumption that EV manufacturing could be conducted on the cheap. The wrongheadedness of that assumption should be obvious to everyone but somehow isn't. None of that implies that the Fisker EV line-up was completely without merit.
Why, must a new EV player have deep pockets? Because it must make the grade against extant ICE and EV automakers in the mass manufacturing game that determines the requirements for success. You either compete at that level or you lose. And, as nothing is guaranteed in this kind of endeavour, you have to have the crack team capable of breaking through all barriers to success at a very early stage of operations. That isn't cheap!
Unlike Fisker's models the vehicles made by Lordstown Motors are completely without merit. Lordstown deserves a quick end. The junk it sells is not fit for purpose and it is only appropriate that the flowering of the EV sphere would proceed alongside the rapid decay of worthless oddities like Lordstown.

The average carbon dioxide output from new trucks and coaches sold in the EU must be 90% below current levels by 2040, European lawmakers have agreed, while city buses must be entirely emissions-free five years ahead of that date.
The decision, based on a European Commission proposal and the fruit of a back-room deal between MEPs and government officials in Brussels today (18 January), follows a similar agreement on a de facto ban on internal combustion-engine cars and vans, whose exhaust CO2 emissions must be zero from 2035.
Most heavy duty vehicles will be subject gradual tightening of CO2 standards, with emissions 45% below the current average by the end of this decade, rising to 65% in 2035. For urban buses, there is an interim target of 90% by 2030, although those deployed to run on inter-city routes will be subject to the lighter set of limits.
As happened with separate standards for cars and vans, political horse trading has resulted in the EU executive being tasked with assessing by 2027 the potential for registering lorries intended to run exclusively on CO2 neutral fuels, whose exhaust emissions would theoretically be captured upstream.
However, this is a potentially complex matter as it would involve not only setting in law precisely what kind of biofuels, or synthetic fuels such as e-diesel made with ‘green’ hydrogen, would qualify, but also devising a system that would prevent what are essentially conventional trucks from being run on fossil fuel.
Despite sundry exemptions - the rules do not apply to garbage trucks until 2035, for example, the agreement has been welcomed by groups campaigning to clean up road transport, the only significant sector to see greenhouse gas emissions rise, rather than fall, in recent decades - up by around a fifth since 1990, and now contributing a quarter of all CO2 output in the EU.
“The EU is clearly telling truckmakers when almost all their vehicles will need to be zero emissions,” said Fedor Unterlohner of the green group Transport & Environment. “European producers now have a clear trajectory to ramp up production of electric and hydrogen rigs and be ready for the challenge of Tesla and Chinese rivals.”
Representing carmakers, the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) noted the incoming EU standards were the most stringent in the world, and said the timeline for implementation was “extremely challenging in the absence of vital enabling conditions”.
“Electric charging and hydrogen refilling infrastructure, comprehensive carbon pricing schemes, and meaningful support measures for transport operators to invest quickly: these are the key ingredients for rapidly decarbonising the heavy-duty transport sector, in addition to zero-emission vehicles,” ACEA director general Sigrid de Vries said in a statement.
The legislative text provisionally agreed in the so-called ‘trilogue’ talks, mediated by the Commission, remains subject to formal endorsement by the EU Council and European Parliament.

Hi there, i hope everything is well with you and your family! That said, for what i´ve seen on the EV market , you should have vertical integration to hope for success, what do i mean, BYD started as a battery producer, than hybrids and EV cars, so they build inside the house I don´t know about the software. Tesla is pointing to the extreme. From production of the fuel ( Tesla solar), Tesla batteries tesla charging stations, gigafactories for the cars, in house batteries production, and the software for all the above. (they have conered the market - one stop shop). If for legacy brands is dificult for the others...
