Hey Folks, Hope you enjoy this video, we had an awesome time at the Kamala Night Market, highly recommend it! Please note: Ananda's arm is fully recovered ... this video was filmed while his arm was still in a sling. Hope you're all having a great week!
As always , a great vlog with your inimitable family !! Oh , and in your previous presentations , you wore the same shirts I have , ( I bought 3 of the same while in your present back yard ) which was amusing !
Thanks a lot for this video Darren, I actually asked another vloger to do video of this market , some time ago , seeing as he only lives down the road from this location, unfortunately he didn't see the need to spend the time. Cheers buddy for this contribution, very enjoyable !
Oops, I think Ananda is fully recovered from the injury of his arm. How is he now? I am worry about him. Anyways, nice video with lots of food that I want to try next time.
Glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, Ananda's arm is fine. This video was filmed while his arm was still in a sling. You will see the sling reappear in some upcoming videos too. Please rest assured, Ananda is now full recovered :)
At that price for the sugar cane juice, I would buy that guy's entire supply! To tone down the sweetness and "earthly" flavor, tell the vendor to cut it with a calamansi as he squeezes the canes.
The first comment (I pinned it there) below the video explains Ananda's arm is fine 👍👍 This video was filmed while his arm was still in a sling. You will see the sling reappear in some upcoming videos too. Please rest assured, Ananda is now full recovered :)
I feel so sorry for Ananda..He still walks with.the mitella on his hand. The video.was great..The food looks clean and tasty. I.like the way you share everything..Very clear! Aorn is so sweet and you made a nice family.. Love you..
Thank you :). Ananda's arm is fine now. This video was filmed while his arm was still in a sling some weeks ago. You will see the sling reappear in some upcoming videos too. Please rest assured, Ananda is now full recovered :)
Glad that I have just had lunch, as this video definitely makes me hungrier, so good looking food, pretty sure it tastes even better! Well done, Darren!
Actually just went there tonight, small compared to other markets we’ve seen but great if you’re staying in Kamala like we were. Had some schwarmas, beer and got a pair of pants so I left happy.
Hi Darren, after watching your phuket videos. I booked a flight to phuket for march. Want to check with you, if I were to rent a bike in phuket. Is it mandatory to wear a helmet? Thanks
Yes, it is the law to wear helmets in Thailand, however many people don't. Many people also die on motorbikes without helmets in Thailand. In the nearly 7 years I have lived here I have known 3 people who died while riding bikes with no helmets.
Thank you Darren, noted on that. Just find it a hassle to carry the helmet around but for safety, i guess i have no choice. Please continue your awesome videos.
You're welcome. The fines you will most likely get from the police in Phuket for not wearing a helmet are also something you'd probably rather avoid. You can lock your helmet with the seat (there are little studs under the seat that suit the helmet straps) so you don't have to carry it around. Ask the rent shop to show you how.
The food at this market looked absolutely delicious. I haven't seen corn that large and pretty here in 2 or 3 years. The ribs looked very delicious too. I can see why you enjoyed this market so much. Thank you for sharing with us, have a great weekend hun! Hugs from me as always 😁
Yummy... I'm behind again. While I'm trying to heal my knee, I've been having a hard time trying to get into watching videos. IDK what's going on w/me, but I would take 20 of those shrimp sticks... lol... That would heal me real quick. Wishing you all well, Chris from Missouri
Im watching this video at 4p.m Sydney time......didn't have lunch, and now I'm starving after watching this. Had to pinch one of my daughters laughing cow cheeses to stop my stomach from complaining. We bought heaps of those fruit soaps as gifts for our friends when we were there last year......stayed clear of those penis soaps though, hah ha ! Your video's are the best ! 👍🇦🇺🙏 Jim.
Ribs, fish, chicken on the "Barbi" always a great mealtime ! 😋 Interesting looking : "candy stick and balls" should make the ladies hungry 😆 !! This market certainly appeared to be of a large scale? The 'sweet'? corn in the cup looked really nice. For someone like myself, too difficult for me to eat with dentures. So i manage without. And one thing i miss is the 🌽 corn 'in-season' here since having to have denture work. What is a very good 'add-on' to that corn cup, is hot chili's or hot sauce !!! Appreciate the 'walk-about', nice mid-week break.
It seems like you know the Thai language pretty well. Good enough to get by at least. Would someone who does not know Thai still be able to easily interact with the local vendors in thai street markets or would they struggle a lot?
You should be fine. Most people in the touristy areas (like the one in the video) speak some English. Thailand is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.
Thanks for another video. This one is showing your editing skills and its much improved and appreciated. If you are in SA again I’ll catch up with you at the central markets...lots of great food there. Looking to come to Thailand soon. I also like how you translate what is said...adds value to the video at least for me. Thumbs up from me!
Another awesome video! Hey darren, have you been to Vietnam? I'm thinking about taking a trip there in July. Is there a lot of food there like in Thailand?
Thanks Mikey. Yes, I went to Da Nang in Vietnam in 2008, but that's the only time I have been there. There was quite a bit of Vietnamese street food there as far as I remember.
When I was in Thailand many years ago, I noticed that there was always a strong smell around the street food carts - I was told it was fish oil, and people really enjoyed this aroma. I must stay it wasn’t the case for me, simply as I wasn’t used to this particular smell. Have you had this experience? Do you still feel it or are you too integrated? :) Ps. I mean absolutely no offense with this question!
No offense taken. After living in Thailand for nearly 7 years and eating street food pretty much daily, I can't say I know the smell of fish oil sorry. I know the smell of fish sauce but I can't say I can smell it near many street food vendors. I do regularly detect smells that my Thai wife doesn't notice, so I don't think I'm immune to smells. The first time I had street food was actually because of the smell. A vendor on a motorbike with a sidecar (a samlor) went past me and it smelt amazing! I asked the friend who was with me, who at the time had lived in Thailand for about 6 years, if it would be safe to eat and he said, "Yes". I bought a piece of grilled chicken from the vendor and ate one of the most amazing pieces of chicken I had ever had. I haven't looked back since :)

Usually it is perfect, but unfortunately the weather in the tropics is unpredictable and all I can say is at that time of year sometimes it rains, sometimes it doesn't, the same as any other time of the year. It really is luck of the draw. Sorry, but I have no way of predicting what the weather will do, in my experience it can change from year to year.
Thanks. As I have said many times in the past, Ananda gets the game when we are making a video, he doesn't get it at home. Without the game it is impossible for us to keep Ananda entertained and make a video at the same time. Unfortunately no game means no Ananda in the videos. You see a very small window into our lives, this video is not our everyday reality, this is 24 minutes and 24 seconds out of one week.
yeah ,, I understand I didn't dwell on the big picture.. plus I was in a mood the other night .. I do apologize , as I meant no offense.. he definitely is an active child and even in 24 mins ,, you can tell heis an intelligent little boy
No worries, it takes a bit more than that to offend me :) Just so you know, tonight we tried filming at a market without the phone.... And it was a disaster. Ananda kept trying to abscond and the video suffered a a result. Some scenes that would have been in next week's video won't be there, as you will see next week. As I said previously, without the game it is impossible for us to keep Ananda entertained and make a video at the same time. Unfortunately no game will mean no Ananda in most of our videos.

We all know who you're talking about. How he maintains a subscriber base is a mystery to me.
I really like the music you chose for the background sound.
Nice family outing, Darren 👍🏽💯%
