I loved to occasionally spend some evenings browsing through everything at that tower records in the 90s. Never knew they played this show there but man what a memory that would have been to be there. Those were the days.
I was 9 months pregnant this day. LOL! I wouldn't have gone if I found out they were at Tower Records this day. I was in mommy-mode. San Diego rocked so hard during the 90's There was so much live music interest. So many bands toured through San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium, Sports Arena, SDSU, and Humphrey's. It was a great time!
I was there. We found out about it last minute & drove down from SDSU. I was standing about just as far back between Scott & Dean. It remains to this day one of the best shows I've seen. It was a cherished moment of rock intimacy...there was a pulse & everyone sang together. STP gave a great performance. Just a bunch of music fans all hanging out in a parking lot on a beautiful day & rocking out together. Scott, you will be missed. We are robbed of your voice.
+Dominic Piscopo I love hearing from peeps who were there. Gives me chills we were all connected. It was a wonderful moment in the time of our youth at the rising crest of a new cyber decade. All thanks to STP!
A great show...such a great vibe. Thanks for taking the video! Most of that day is etched in my mind. I'm glad it is exactly like I remember. I never got to see STP again but I saw Weiland with Velvet Revolver & he rocked then too. Oh, and I also headed Scott's prophetic warning about not voting for Bush.
This concert was always one of my favorites to watch. It's amazing watching the melding of the crowd with the band. This is even more special now that Scott is gone. I come back and watch this from time to time to feed my rock and roll soul. So grateful you caught this on video to share with the world.
+swatts3301 your very welcome! ill tell anyone who wants to hear the story...i had convinced my mom to buy "us" a sony dv8 camcorder just a few weeks earlier...its destiny came in the form of announcements on local 91X radio that STP was playing a secret show at the Tower Records (Sports Arena) on a that sunny San Diego day in April 2000. My cousin and his ex-gf(the screamer in most of the vids) found out and picked me up in the ol' 92 civic hatchback.....I brought the camera and as far as i can remember, was the only video camera there. I had the foresight to be mostly quiet while filming while all those around me sang along. which i wish i could've done...lol.
I so appreciate you sacrificing the "joy of the moment" for the fans that never had the chance to see them up close and personal!! Videos like these are truly a gift to the fans that love Scott. Even his kids may come to see these someday!! What a great story~and incredible videos (minus the screaming chick, but I get her enthusiasm}.
Nobody really talks about Robert's amazing backing vocals. He always Sings the harmonies Very well and robert and scott are among the top 3 greatest Duel singers the other is chester and mike #1 and #3 is daron and serj
your welcome! that girl was my cousin's ex...a hardcore stp fan..you'll hear her throughout the other clips too..haha..but can you really blame her...free special concert by your're favorite band and you're 5ft away...EXCITED!!..hah
