@@aa-vg6rn spelling 'incest' wrong was a joke?
I'm from a small town called dora nm and we just switched from 8man to 6man and our community is kind of like this all farming and ranching and we are rivals with the best team in our district I love this video because I can relate to this watching this video helps me see how six man will play out this year.
Wow lol Dora. Rivals with tatum, eh?
Our 3-time-winning provincial 6-man team consisted of:
1 tall, strong center
Our ends were Tall, Built, and fast.
Our QB is basically the same as any other QB
Backs are small and fast
For Defense:
2 lineman were Tall/not too big
2 outside linebackers are tiny and fast
One very strong middle LB
And a little fast safety
As you can see, size is kind of not needed in 6-man. Other teams try to use big slow guys on the line, and that is a weakness. Being able to outrun the other team is basically your ticket to championship.
As you watch the video, you can see that the teams are small. That is what works the best.
Yeah, For Lineman, You need a Good Balance of Speed, Quickness, Athleticism, Strength and Size
I'm from and live in Montana, we have 6 man, 8 man, and 11 man. Just depends on school enrollment. It's insane.
same, i play for an 11 man team at the new school in bozeman and its totaly different.
Wow, I have never seen so much hate for enthusiastic people with big love for the sport as I do in this comment section.
A Few People in the Comment Section hate it for some reason. Because They don't play 11-Man. And Some compared it to a D3 School.
Big city people always look down on rural living Americans. They learned it from the liberal media.
@@SouthernSkeptic where’d you learn to be so sensitive?
@@siluetboi Yawn.
@@SouthernSkeptic Thats what they teach in the south i guess lmao , revisionist civil war history and how to be sensitive asf about all the 'big city people' its ok i would be too if i lived in a town where the only girls were my sisters and cousins
this is sweet, football is football irregardless of 11 or 6, great video
So what your saying is that football is football not regardless of 11 or 6. I'm confused.
Frank Burrus nigga said irregardless xD
You clearly never played football
9 man also
this woulda been fun as hell, can easily rush for a million yards lol
Ikr lol 😂😂😂
Played 6-man football the last two years of high school. It's not all it's cracked up to be. It's high scoring and fast paced, but it's meh.
i played six man all four years its fast paced but knowing that everyone on your team is willing and able to put their bodies on the line for a win, it teaches you how to put down your own self goals for the sake of something greater
Ty Sharpe college recruits in 6-8 man football can easily rush for 400 yards a game
Its real life *NFL Blitz* but with shitty hitting
“We had a bad season we were 50-50” dude what that’s my highschools dream season 😂😂
50-50 isn't that bad at all.
@@sacramentokingswillrise7525 5-5 isn't gonna get past round 1 unless you get lucky
Loads of schools around where I grew up played 8-man football...but the smallest schools up there (we're talking 40 kids here, northern WI) didn't even have enough for that, they just sent their kids to the closest "big" school instead (which might be a 45-minute drive away, all on 2-lane state and county highways...and we're still talking about an enrollment of 300 or so) if they wanted to play football.
West Texas is the Mecca of 6 man football. Crazy 6’ 215 lb running backs that will end you. Crazy all star game in Garden City each year.

Or Strawn, Texas
Penelope, Texas is really good as well.

@@dannygonzalez5662 Well That sucks
Went to the state championship for 2A sixman this year, lost 41 to 42, tough team but six man is not easy as it seems it's just a smaller team, we do track routines and also hitting
I went to high school in New York. The high school I went to had barely enough kids to field an 11-man team even though we’re already merged with a nearby school since the 2013 season. And I went to a school with roughy 160 kids per class the other school has like 60 students to a class. If they can’t get the numbers for an 11-man team, they shouldn’t be criticized for doing 8-man or 6-man football.
An intricate thread of what makes us such a fabulous country. Grew up in Northwest Indiana but now live in the Great State of Idaho. It is wonderful to see one of the many aspects of who we are as Americans. Long live the gridiron.
I referee 7 on7 in Texas gotta love it!
Well done! The production, the story, everything.... So interesting and such a great glimpse of America. Sad to see the lack of fans, but no population= no fans in the stands. I could watch an entire season following these kids.
This has been around in texas for decades surprised most people are shocked about this
Danielle Ramirez it’s been around decades here too.
Same with Wyoming
@@Tk-nt3jz Hell yeah, brother!
Really wish Vice would post the full episode. It was close to an hour and had so much more depth including backstory about a player who had died a year ago in whose memory they were dedicating the season. The player at the end here was a good friend of his and heavily impacted by it. The kid how ran for the game clinching touchdown is shown as being one who really wants to leave town as opposed to the teammate who wants to stay and that’s kind of used to frame the problems rural towns are having with shrinking populations. It really was one of the better and more moving sport documentaries I’ve seen beyond just the football which is mostly featured in this clip. It’s a shame I’ve not really seen the full episode online elsewhere
man the stats for a good runner would be incredible , juke once and by by
Mason McDixon good enough runners to make it in 11 man don’t usually stay, no real college is going to give you a scholarship to play for them when you’ve only played sixman, no matter how godly your stats are
@@thedarkfrost2351 not true. We have 6man in texas
Hey footballs football 6,8, or 11 man. America's game for those who LOVE football. It's amazing. Hi to all other states from native Sterling City tx. State runners up vs Richland Springs Tx Coyotes. 12/11/10. 🤘👍
"We had the smallest team in the state" I played a 6 man game two different years with no more then 7 people on the team
This looks like backyard football you'd play with your friends but with pads. Man, that looks like fun.
The high school I graduated from in Kansas in 2007 was a combination of 3 different rural towns and outlying areas. My senior class had like 28 people in it. It was 8-man then, but it just went to 6-man last season so I'm excited to see how they do. Because my senior year, we had 3 guys on the team who were Seniors...only 2 of us were significant. But I was 6'3" 330lbs... completely unknown prospect for the most part...I did have offers...but I wanted to play D1...and it's just impossible to get them to give a look to someone who never played 11-man. Hopefully that all changes....
I'm still somehow (despite my poor decisions as an adult) a local legend in terms of my size and speed at the time...I still hold the high school shot put record. Hell I was even homecoming king senior year...which I hadn't even remembered until now lol. Not much competition around here.
As a MT native, thanks for this!
gotta love the passion!
Hmmm? Springfield / Shelbyville and Lismore / Derrinallum spring to mind
wish I could have went to some hick school so could have been a star instead of at a school where the team had 18 kids play college ball
Should of bewn a vetter athelete
Haha dude same, 105 kids on a roster
you should have went to class to be a better speller
Im not sure speller is a word, certainly sounds childish when said aloud. A typo is forgivable though.
I don't play, but my school has gone 3-9 for the last two years and have sent multiple guys to d1. A junior this year just committed to Duke and another person went to East Carolina.
Don’t understand the hate some people have towards six man. If your school can only field a team of around 20 players would you rather play 11 man and not even have a full practice squad and likely play kids who have no business being on the field, or play 6 man and be able to properly field a team?
Here in South Dakota we have 9 Man and 11 Man, and yet our 9 Man teams still have to combine with other schools just to field a team. We have teams consisting of 4-5 towns playing 9 Man, and now we’ll likely add 6 Man within 4-5 years.
If a Team have 20 Players, They would have to play 6-Man Football. If they wanted to play 11 Man Football, They would need more Players and Backup Players. That's What People don't understand about 6-Man, 8-Man and 9-Man Football.
So it's like Rugby Sevens. If you used the same tournament style format for this, it would be awesome!
I'd bet $50 that none of those kids have ever heard of Rugby.
Need a doc about a six man team. Shit would be so good for the sport it would so many views
I'm my opinion 6 man is the best kind of football more intense games
I played for Trent we were the Trent gorillas and I loved it
good times
Never seen it done this small before. In some parts of where i live in Kansas have 8 man football squads but 6 man, damn
Alex Hennigh texas only has normal football and 6man.
That's a lot of players for a 6-man team. We play 8-man with less.
There was a 8-Man Football Team with 9 Players. That Team was Bad. The School was Lee Vining High School in California.
sometimes there arent 8/9/11 man schools around so you just have to play 6
travel costs can be expensive
honestly I counted 20 players and I think that's enough for 8-man. My last varsity game we only had 28 players available and we fielded 11 and had to play against wisconsin's current backup QB.
JROB447 my high school had less than 400 students (that includes 7th/8th) and we managed to put together a competitive 9 man team.
My old HS only had 17 kids out for football this past year and they still managed to do 8 man so yeah I think these kids could but their probably aren't many 8 man teams in their area.
Colemannn1232 lol their backup QB is a true freshman, he's good trust me. he didn't get 10 offers from teams in the power 5 conferences for no reason
Bro we had 17 players in my middle school team and we still played 11 man they have no excuse not to play 8 man
We played 8 man with 9 or 10 guys for all four years. We were awful, and we should have gone six man, but to late for me now😂
Damn, I sooo love Montana, America as it should be. Just wish it would go back to no speed limit.
People love to hate on this but what if a school or even an entire town doesn't have enough people to play 11 man the school is forced to either not play at all or have a 6 man team and there are 8 man teams if you didn't know, but my point is don't hate on them for not having a very populated town, also there's people saying they could get hundreds of yards rushing but trust me if you get out there you'd get you're ass kicked
A Lot of People in the Comment Section talking about 6-Man, 8-Man and 9-Man Footballl sucks. I'm not sure Why People hate it.If a Small School doesn't have enough Players to play 11-Man. They would have to play 9-Man, 8-Man or 6-Man.
@@sacramentokingswillrise7525 Because they're spoiled. They have that luxury of playing on an 11 man team.

Beautiful landscape but very closed off from the rest
@bravo23 delta what the fuck is wrong with you dude?
You mean to tell me that they don’t have 22 teens in that town play football.
Read the caption at 1:18 - there aren't 65 teens in the school, and that includes girls
I think the team had like 13 guys, theres 8 man football after 6 man im sure if they had 20 kids they do 8 man
@@VLA1234-t2t The smallest schools playing 6-man in TX have a few as 20-25 students total in all 4 grades. Literally every boy is in uniform and plays.
Couldnt you combine the 2 teams and do a traditional football team
I miss playing six man football
This is pretty cool, support is great too
I'm a sophomore in Highschool and I live in Chicago we play more interesting games of 2 hand touch during lunch period than this

i play 6 mn and its way more fun than 11 man, its way harder too ( for the most part ) you have to know everyones job because in a way everyone will do a different job at one point

Who else plays six man
Yoooo my school is called the mountaineers to
Look up reserve high school football
Dude I wanna live there
This seems so fun
6-Man and 8-Man and 9-Man Football looks interesting.
What’s with all the hate it’s what these guys have it’s pretty rad
Because they're so used to 11 man football and live in their own little bubble that 11 man is sUpErIoR
This looks like fun and it's cool that they make it happen. Did they call the team with "Savage" on their jersey the Warriors for offensive reasons?
Nice- A Tribe Called Red does the opening music. Good stuff.
the concept of "everybody gets a pass" very much resembles Australian Football or Footy.... on a side note, schools with low population should focus more on individual sports like wrestling and track running... if the school can introduce sports like Badminton and fencing, it would help the athlestics department overall
Paulo Cuento yes, I’m sure ranch kids would love fencing...🤦♂️
Remember, budgets are hella different in small towns
Don't worry. They got wrestling.
I guess people are not used to seeing there game played with fewer players? Can only be a American Football thing because...
Rugby Union had Rugby 7's with added space giving more action gameplay wise when compared to the 15 man code
Rugby League has 7s and 9s with added space again giving more action gameplay wise when compared to the 13 man code.
In Ice Hockey they play overtimes with fewer players (NHL plays 3vs3 during the regular season) giving more space and action compared to the 5vs5 situation.
I'm sure there is more but I can't remember right now.
And yes I'm a foreigner language wise, country wise and sports wise. But I'm still a fan of sports and I want to understand it before bashing it for the sole reason of "It's not my sport/football". Just saying that something that does work in a another football code/sport can work in another one.
hmmm he said it does not get smaller then this but i play on a team with eight players and im only 4,5 and i play almost ever play
Is That High School Level or not? Because If it is, How do you survive guys 1.5 ft taller than you?
How's this tiny ass school have better helmets than my school...
Much respect
Maybe 6A Texas HS football has me biased but none of these guys look good.
nah youre right. these guys couldnt even play d3 ball in like new mexico lol
Alex Pratt yeah same here 😂😂😂
Alex Pratt 6 man Texas football would run up the score on these teams as well
Alex Pratt yep as good as some of these players / teams be 6 man has kinda handicapped them in a way when it comes to 11 man as I played both. 6 man taught me how to run fast and open field tackle and just be more athletic as 11 man taught me play analysis, formations, and routines and better football IQ
Alex Pratt but you could take any 6A school players from like lake Travis or katy and they would probably beat any 6 man team
just seems like a worse rugby 7s
AsomeaHD was gonna say
it's just how it is in parts of the US. This form of American Football are made in towns usually less than a thousand people. So usually high school's will play this version of American Football. Of course the quality isn't gonna be great. These are kids probably between 15-18 and almost no pool of talent to pick from.
Talk about being an All America in this league!
Very nice!
Just one question...
Why dont they play 11 players football?
They have enough players....the bus was full
11 players in offense
And those 11 players could play defense too
Of course they would finish the game completely really really tired
But playing 6 man football is harder than that because the field becomes bigger and you have to run more and more
But They would need more Players to cover the Other Positions. And Would need more backups
They may have 12 players but distance to other 11 man teams and the roster would be the problem.
With 11 man I prefer at least 18-23 guys on the team to start.
They also don’t have any big dudes because frankly its 6 man so they’d need a d and o line.
Many 6 man teams don’t even have 11 that go out for football. I played 6 man in highschool and I think we had 8 people out. My highschools enrollment was 40 kids 9-12 .
Who would ever want to live in Montana. Dont get me wrong its beautiful there, But Who would really wanna live there???
ThaKidd PaulieB me. Every day of my life. I’ve been all over this world and with the exception of New Zealand, no place comes close.
Remmy Mills people who don’t love the great outdoors can’t love a place like montana
Simple life ig, either be a farmee or rancher
I wanna live there. Mostly because I do.
I'm sure the people who live there think the same thing about the place where you live. Different strokes for different folks.
The sports writer said this was a game of athleticism... he’s clearly never seen high school football in the south.
William Lackey I have and I’ve seen football in Montana trust me the south is more skilled but MT no matter how many players you have takes athleticism
6 man is a nearly non stop and high scoring game, many schools only have 7-8 players on the entire roster so endurance is key. No state in the southern states has 6 man except Texas. The Southern US only has 11 and 8 man
@@jamescarr5972 how many guys in the nfl from Montana?
Not everything is a competition. Just because Texas and Florida -- with 20m+ people by the way -- have great athletes doesn't mean that these kids aren't athletic. What the journalist said is true, 6 on 6 requires that every player has abilities to play nearly every position. That was what he meant by athleticism. He never said "these kids are better athletes than kids in the south."
Rugby 7s would be a much better idea. Small town America can get a jump on a growing game.
let them play what they want fam
that would be straight up copying
@@blitzir They would be copying:
An Olympic sport, that also stages international tournaments
That sport has a number of players that works well for them
The rest of the country isn't doing very much with this, so for a few Olympic cycles these small towns can actually produce talent for a National Team
And the alternative to that is to alter an existing sport and play it in a way that no one else does, and it doesn't really exist anywhere else.
One of these plans is better than the other. But yes they will do what they want.
Yeah 90 - 70 is a high powered 6 man game.

Yeah, they should move house and home, forget their community, just to fly down to a hotter, bigger, and different place, just on your opinion alone.
I’m not trying to start anything but Texas would run this six man football, we’ve been playing six man for damn near a century at my school. If yall think these two teams are good, look up Texas 1a state championship for six man, mfs are fucking crazy athletic for no reason.

this is way better than regular football. You can get higher scoring games and cool plays. I can imagine Reggie Bush rushing for thousands of yards
This is not football they would get ear holed so hard running down the field like that lmao
I’m surprised they chose 6 v 6 when 7v7 already exist
Cause No Other High Schools have 7-Man Football
no high schools in the US do 7v7 not even Alaska
7v7 is more for fun rather than full competition
its either 6, 8, 9, or 11
They should've done this in west Texas ( more diversity). But I also believe it should be phased out in favor of 8 man

Small town agriculture based school communities are the best!
I grew up in a small agricultural community, and while it had its positives for sure, there were definitely negatives. But I guess that's really true for any type of town. I now live in NYC, and it has its pros and cons. It really comes down to what the people make of it; a great community works no matter the size.
