GREAT DEAL ON A FERMENTING KIT AND OR SUPPLIES ... =)
Stacy, not sure if you guys make your own mozzarella cheese or not. If you don't you should, it's easy and you get about 2/3's whey to about 1/3 cheese. Believe me it's easy squeezey. Thanks so much for the Lacto Fermented Blueberries. Curious, do you guys have a gas refrigerator?
they have an old fashioned ice box. they put ice in it and it keeps foods cold.
OFF GRID with DOUG & STACY can I use the whey off of my homemade cashew/almond or coconut yogurt?
Rrt
Best wishes. Thanks for sharing, Lord-Jesus-Christ com
I'll watch you any day over Martha Stewart. You rock, Stacy!
😂
I will too
i'm vegan so I'm going try to use kombucha instead of whey. i'll let you know how it works. so excited. UPDATE: tried it with kombucha and it worked. did it exactly how she did in the vid but used kombucha. now lets see how long it lasts in the fridge. UPDATE: lasted 2 weeks in the fridge but we ate them all so we may never really know.
Great idea. Me too but i was going to use either coconut yogurt or a probiotic pill.
Amazing ! Let us know how it turns out.
StarFlower99654 You know, you give me an idea! You can make lacto fermented COCONUT WATER from YOUNG COCONUTS by putting the coconut water in a jar, on the counter for a few days! This Vegan lifestyle can be a challenge to get used to in regards to substitutions. So grateful for the Internet! 👍
I was thinking that exact same thing today...did you try it did it work
I use kombucha in place of whey for these types of recipes- it always turns out great.
The way you two talk to each other is so cute. ♡
Stacy, you are just adorable 😍. I’m late coming to you tube. I’m like you... God gave us two hands to use & what better way than making good food. I’m 71 yrs young & can like crazy. Trying to catch all your videos😉. Keep up the good work🥬🌶🥦🥒🌻
Fermenting for Health! Love you two together. Keep up the great work!
Man I Love these older raw videos. Doug's laugh was pure joy!!!
And the macro fermented blueberries are on my list of must does😀👍🙏❤💕
This was a great video. Made me smile so many times with all the bloopers, and had such good info. You guys are so fun.
You both are amazing. Doug is always the voice of the commenters lol it's so beautiful seeing Stacy get sidetracked from his questions. But all in all we always leave with nuggets of information. Thank you for making learning fun ❤️
I made a loaf of bread and I used whey instead of water, the next week I made a loaf of bread and this time used water. We kept saying something is missing, it doesn't taste as good as last week's, then I remembered I used whey. It made a huge difference ❤
💕 love the raw footage, nothing better 🤣.
Doug always ask the best questions- so helpful
Yes, the question about buying yogurt and how much whey you get out of just one container, was a key point and she was not too sure what he was talking about at first....... 03:45 but yeah, I was wondering how much I need to buy to make one cup of whey. I am so green about all this that if the instructions are not clear, I'm lost but hey you got Doug asking the right questions because he knows what people on the other side of that camera are thinking....thanks, Dough you're the best.....
Jerzy Bella -Right, totally agree. It's super helpful for us watching to have as much detail as possible.
Yup, so true. My thing is, that I need details. I know, I'm a pain in the neck but it's true because without details just leads the viewer with more questions....lol.....But I love these guys, they are great together and full of information......Have a nice day!!!
Funny, hilarious keep up your informative filmage...had some flashbacks.
Stacy I just recieved my "Nourishing Traditions" book! 🤗 I'm so excited to read it! You've talked about in several videos so I had to get. Thank you!
I made these several times from your fermenting book that I purchased. I love them!! Thank you Stacy and Doug!!
Since you’ve made this a number of times, what do you do with the lacto/honey leftover liquid? I hate to throw it out and I’m sure I shouldn’t just drink it🤷🏼♀️. I can’t get anyone to answer my question 🙁
@Michele Clow I drink it! I get sparkling water and mix a little with it. It's delicious!
@@micheleclow240 you can also use as a starter for your other ferment.
I pulled the blueberries from the freezer... letting the defrost and going forward with this! Can't wait to taste. I know it's not exactly the same, but bought a jar of kimchi to taste and I love it! Definitely going to be making that one too! Thanks guys for all your help in making our lives better!
You two are too cute at making videos! I just started my own modern homestead, moving out of NJ to the Catskill mountains of NY state. I have enjoyed learning and absorbing all your knowledge and info from your experiences and daily routines. Thank you, keep up the good work!
Sounds so fun. Use to drive through and go to the Catskills go away camp back in the 1960's when I was a kid. Loved the area! Sounds like a great area to do homesteading!
8 yrs later.... how is it going??? 🌻🌱🫂
What a great time spent with you guys 💚 So much information and sooooooo funny. Thanks for your time and information.
I just fermentedmy first blueberries of the season and they are delicious and fizzy on the tongue. I love this fermentation . I bought my blueberries at our farmer's market. I have three blueberries bushes and will hopefully will have them planted this week.
Stacy use your hands and I think it is great the way you just add what is needed without precise measuring it is all so authentic!!! My husband and I are both hooked on watching OFF GRID with DOUG & STACY.
Thanks Peaches!
Doug & Stacy it is snowing here in Montana so I'll get to watch more of your videos today, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge you are both doing a fantastic job and I feel blessed to of run across your videos.
Lol Stacy measures like my grandma did...
A handful of this.
A dash of that.
A pinch of this.
A teaspoon, tablespoon was by eye in the palm of her hand.
I think she used a half pint jelly jar, a pint jar, and a regular coffee cup as measuring also.
Best cook ever!
This is one of my FAVORITE things to ferment! I have blueberry bushes now so I'm happy to have my own soon! This really is good if anyone is on the fence about doing this one.
Stephanie Nuce can you eat the blueberries?
That's a great idea. My daughter is a self-professed blueberry girl. I need to try this one. Thanks for sharing. Blueberries are a fantastic superfood, and with fermenting, wow, they must pack a powerful healing punch.
I love this kind of video. Doesn’t have to be perfect. Feels like I’m hanging with you in the cabin.
Excellent way back video watching now in 2022. Love the broken rock technique.
I miss hearing ‘Growing in Faith Farm’. No matter the name you guys are awesome!
I loved this video! I'm about to go order Nourishing Traditions :). I love the way you 2 interact!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who uses rocks. I collected mine at our local beach, flat and sized for my jar. Washed and baked in the oven at 200 for an hour. Put em inside my dutch oven with a lid in case their moisture content made em crack.
Absolutely delicious! Just took mine out of the pantry after a day & half and they are amazing!!!!!!!!!!! Stacy I love learning these different recipes in food preservation! Just ordered Nourshing traditions too! Exciting to get it and start reading! God bless you Both! ❤️
*excited
I love going back to your old videos! Always good information then and now.
I really love their old videos too! Growing in faith farm days ♡ I have learned so much from these two over the last year and a half of what started out a gardening journey! Trying drastically to change my little family's life and hopefully rub off mine and my husband's very sick parents! They each have their problems, one who is worse than the rest. Husband's parents don't want to listen or give up the garbage convenient freezer/frakenfood! 😑 it's like a neverending battle that I guess we can't give up on and just keep talking until we're blue in the face, with many frustrations on both ends!
I LOVE that you give ideas on how to use ferments!!!
I have been sharing your station with friends and family. I have been praying the past couple years for a mentor in the arts of "back to the basics". I was hoping for a friend I could hang out with and get hands on experience, but this is so helpful also. Thanks again for sharing.
Also, I laughed along with you during this video, so much fun!
Great video! I had a good laugh along with you. Good info as usual! Thank you.
The two of you making learning so enjoyable! Thank you for helping me laugh! I made this tonight using an apple slice as a weight to hold the blueberries down. I'm looking forward to eating them.
I just love you guys.Do not stop.Gods love to you both.
Groan... Song sticky! Now I have the Band-Aid song going through my head and cannot get rid of it.
JP and Kelly love the band-aid commercial memory...I am stuck on band-aids cause band-aids stuck on me. LOL.
Tosca Reno taught me to make yogurt cheese by straining the greek yogurt in a cheese cloth overnight... now, thanks to you, I have now learned that the liquid is called "whey". So, two ingredients with multi-purpose usefulness :) Merci :)
you guys are great. love your videos. im learning so much. thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I ordered that book😊it will be a great addition to my collection of preparedness books. Thank you guys I have learned a lot from your bideos
Stacy, I love all your wealth of information !!
Love Doug's comments and questions during the video. And " by whey of the store" good one!
I love the time that you guys demonstrate, just being together.
Thank you for this video!! Last week I got a whole lot of (blue) berries from a neighbour, and we couldn't eat them all in time to prevent it from going bad... So I sought on your channel for something with blueberries... Guess what: I just had some whey out of our Dutch cottage cheese, so I gave lacto fermenting those berries a try! It's wicked hot outside, so I checked on them after 6 hours, and it's started already ;)
I'm so curious about how it will taste :D
Blessings from The Netherlands!
I LOVE blueberries. Looking forward to trying this next time I can get blueberries.
Omgosh, I'm doing this soon, I have blueberries in the freezing from this past harvest. I'll let them get room temp and start this up! Thanks so much Doug and Stacy!
Thanks guys for calling me with the info on where to buy good heirloom seeds...already ordered morninga tree seeds and lots of sweet potato. Because I live in fl I'm just going to plant sweet potato and some dandelion for the summer months, because they are pretty matience free. Thank you both very much for what you do!
I'm going to get a greenhouse to plant my vegetables Because I do not want my veggies out in the open where they are spraying our sky's with barium, strontium ,aluminum and God knows what else ..aka..geo engineering..solar engineering, look it up ...
Made these and love them. Also tried making the whey. Turned out great. Made blueberry muffins with the whey, blueberries. Grand son and hubby loved them. Yummy. Thanks again for the info. We are fermenting like crazy now. It’s so easy.
Hey, Doug since you asked, I heard you can get "whey" down upon the Suwanee River.
Great stuff guys, love, love, love your videos, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge ...
We have 7 blueberry bushes!! I'm doing this next year! Too late to do now. We literally just grazed this year. Didn't get many because my hubby cut them at the wrong time! I don't measure either Stacy! Especially with my sourdough starter! It's a look and a smell!
I agree, that book has been my favorite book for years and started me on my natural food health journey!
That was Awsome,Fermenting gut flora for digesting
4 cups berries,
4 TBS honey (could you use maple syrup too?)
1/2 tsp salt
4-6 TBS water
4TBS whey or kombucha
Good for smoothies, on toast or in oats
hahahaha I know I just watched this a second ago but watching it again - so funny, but so glad the cooking shows are mostly/only Stacy now. squirrel!... I'm gonna go pick up a rock for my ferments when I run out of pickle pipes. off to make my blueberry wine ;)
I want to try so many of these things , thank you for sharing.
I can't thank you guys enough for all your great videos and information! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the soles of my feet:) God bless you!
Stacy! You should do ebooks & do links to them in the comment section. Less overhead is always better :-). Thanks again...just love your videos.
It is rare I give a thumbs up, but you got one for a very informative video. Awesome job you two!
I just saw this! Awesome Goodness! Thank You, Stacy
Absolutely get more whey from raw milk. It's hard to get raw milk for me in my area. And, I did experiment getting the whey from organic wholemilk , plain yogurt. And...I get a couple tsp every couple of days, that I give to my precous fur baby (Sarene'na) she's 7 yrs old, but I still call her my baby =) I also put her on raw food diet & thanks to you guys, her ailments have improved immensely ~♡~
Thanks for the multiple laughs on the replay Stacy and Doug!
Nourishing Traditions cookbook is FREE on Amazon with prime to read on your Kindle! 💙
Wow,thank you both for all the information
LOVE the "real life" videos! And, I never thought of fermenting fruit. What a novel idea! Wait. . .that's what wine is, isn't it? Duh!
Doug and Stacy ya'll are a blast of life, I really love blueberries thanks for sharing
This looks delicious. I am going to try it. Thanks
That was the best video! You both seemed to have fun with it and it’s a great reminder that we’re all just human with good days and bad! Loved it and loved the recipe!!!
fermenting for health. I love blueberries so fermenting them seems like another way to love them.
"*And a dog named *BOO" Doug & Stacy ... you guys are not only informative , you're VERY ENTERTAINING, too!!! LOVE YOU BOTH!!!
Yes, I did, Doug =}
Last Friday I came down with flu/bronchitis, and have been listening/watching your videos but not commenting or responding. I am still quite ill, and would appreciate prayers for healing & prayers that my mom (89) will not get this crud.
I am still planning on purchasing the AA Sun Oven through you, so no worries there ;) I can not think of two more worthy people! Wish I could help more!
You are both such an inspiration to me, I bet you can't even imagine in your wildest dreams.
Will be in contact soon, and let you know when I have placed my order. Thank you for caring enough to follow up. Shalom my friends
Another excellent video and another playlist complete! Whoop! Whoop! Blessings Always! ~Lisa
Fantastic video, I'm so glad you guys make these types of videos. I'm going to try this
Great video...love that it's real life 😁. Catching up on your old videos to learn about fermenting. Started cabbage with beets and just beets this weekend. Will be making blueberries next. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge!
I will be getting that book. Thank you for the recommendation.
I have a batch of fermented elderberry juice. About a quart bottle. Used some juice from my sauerkraut as a starter. I like to keep them LABS in the same family, so to speak.
After three days of crazy fermentation I added some cooked beetroot and added a couple of TBS of ACV. Resting in my fridge.
Man its gud!
I love the blooper reel:) Thank you Stacy for all the useful info!
I loved watching this absolutely great lol 😂 thank you for sharing 😁😁🙏🏻❤️🪴
Loved this video. Can’t wait to try it!
Love your presentations free from complications.
Great video! You guys are SO fun to watch and I bet it's always a good time on the homestead! Thanks for the great information again. :-)
That is definitely very funny Stacy. .lol. just go pick up any rock from out in the yard..I love it. Yes, I know.. this is an oldie but goodie.video.
Oh my gosh! Love you two together 😂 the 14:10 mark..”boy oh boy” thanks guys!
You guys are so good together.
Im really sorry for being so late in discovering yalls videos, but I was wondering if you could do another video on the blueberry fermenting. I was still a little confused on how to after watching this video.
No Whey!!I clean my honey mason jar the exact same way. Ill have to try to get some yogurt. here in Nova Scotia, Canada it is known as wild blueberry country. and my 2 girls and I can go on a 30 min walk and gather often 4-8 cups of wild blueberries EASY (though being a forager I know a few "secret" patches a little off the beaten path) this is a great way to make them last longer.
oh also I use the stones also I just boil the stones nice and ling after scrubbing them a bit
Stacey you are just the best !!! All around !!
Great way to adapt to the lighting, Doug!
Stacy you are very informative 👍🏻❤️
2023, aren't you glad Mason came up with their fermenting kits?
I have not fermented any fruit yet, but may give this one a try! Looks delicious! FERMENTING FOR HEALTH!
funny video start, gosh- you've this one is almost 2 years old - cannot believe we only recently found you two. Fermenting for health! cheers to you Midwesterners!
I'm surprised how short the fermentation process is for this. Awesome recipe.
Thank you so much! Keep it coming! You are a great team!
Thanks for the variety of uses, I wouldn't have ever thought to lacto ferment blueberries! I'm just trying my first batch of whey fermenting with cucumbers to make pickles.
I love how Stacy dressed for the part, cute!
Another great video! I like seeing you conquer the rock vs. lid challenge! Haha! I did have a moment of frustration coz I tried to look up the book & I thought you were saying, “Nursing Traditions” & Half Price Books didn’t find it. So I Googled it & found it immediately. I know it takes time, but if you could put the titles, names, etc., to references in the video that would help so much. We all have accents to some degree; I’m an Okie from Arizona.
I'm LOVING these older videos!! I shared and am saving cause I've wondered how to do this. (How to get whey without fresh milk) NOW I KNOW!!! Thank you sooooooo much! You guys are so awesome and just the cutest couple. I'm getting through all these I swear it!! LOL Love ❤️ and hugs 🤗
Lisa
would you do another blueberry/whey extracting video when the light is better again? cause its soooo dark
I know you are busy but you really should do a book for homesteading and healthy natural living! The skin dry brushing helped to improve my severe lymphedema which I passed on to my physical therapist and he now recommends it to all patients with lymphadema because it is so effective!
Great video, Doug and Stacy. Thanks for sharing!
