I bought one of the 2nd gen Sega Genesis w/Sega CD add-on right after I first joined the Army. Loved it. Played the crap out of SEGA-CD games. Then I moved to Germany. Still played it, this time using an inverter to downstep the 220v European voltage to 120v US voltage. To this day it's one of the first emulators I load on all my portable devices and I still play those games, especially the RPGs. In 1995 my unit invaded Bosnia to stop the war, with us being the first ones to cross the Sava over a floating pontoon bridge since World War II, and my Sega-CD went into storage in the attic in our barracks. Upon return a year later we learned that a corrupt Staff-Sergeant NCO had broken into our storage and stolen a lot of soldiers' things. That included my Sega-CD and every single game. Needless to say we were pretty enraged and the hunt began. To this day that SSG has never been seen again. Some say he escaped his fellow soldiers' vengeance, others say what remains of him is scattered all over various fields across Hesse. But who knows what really happened to him? ;-)

I only have a handful of games myself because I was focusing on other systems at the time and regret that choice now. I thought the prices would go up but gradually not all at once overnight. But when they were still affordable I managed to grab: Dune, Shining Force CD, Vay, Lunar The Silver Star and Lunar Eternal Blue. 9:28 I have The same TV me too!
I got the genesis 2 and sega cd 2 like 5 years ago. I LOVE it. But here in the States i can't recommend it because the prices have gotten ridiculous. I found a repro of Snatcher too so I can play it in original hardware but I tend not to count that one. Final Fight CD is one I want badly. Also I'm jealous of how the games came out in your territory. The final fight game over here came out in a crappy cardboard box and just said Final Fight CD on it. No cool picture or anything.
One time had them 2 with the 32x
Final Fight on Sega CD was kind of a big deal back then especially with Guy. That's all I'm saying.
Yeah ... on the SNES did they not have a special Guy edition 😅
@@WickedGamerCollector yeah like two years later lol finally
It’s not worth to get one if you want to play the games. Just emulate it. The cost to build a library is not worth it. This goes for most retro consoles in the 16,32 bit generation.
Offcourse it is
With all the hacks nowadays...
Game on!
The Sega CD is worth it just for those 2 games final fight CD is the best console port ever baring the arcade version
*Ninja Warriors is arcade perfect too!* 💡
@@afriend9428 ninja warrior again?
@@spakey1983 *No the original and the music is fantastic too!* ⭐️
You can't find CD roms anymore. Its very rare
The official name should be Sega Mega CD Drive
Horrible how these European consoles display slow motion video and sound, thats why i love the Japanese versions.
I have both my PAL Mega Drives 60Hz-modded.
Something goes wrong, about Megadrive 2 sound output...by rear port, it's stereo and not mono...
Only model 1 has this problem....
But model 2 is cheaper than Mondel 1...but has stereo output!!!
Not good quality sound....but Stereo Sound!!!!
I've seen Mega Drive model 1 only once IRL, so I'm more in favour of more compact model 2. Blasphemy, I know😱😱😱
You could have set the your tv in 4:3 aspect ratio, Wicked🙄🙄🙄
the power of tower XD lol
To be honest, I don't think it's worth it. Not for original hardware. The reliability of aging hardware and the cost to maintain...I'd rather just emulate.
