The devs purposely placed extra quest items into the game for players that may have a hard time finding these items. The wind always blows to the North. Strangely enough in the Raft world, the sun rises in the North and sets in the South. Eventually you can get a compass that will verify this. Using only a sail into the wind you will progress like a snail. Using a paddle along with the sail into the wind will improve your progression. You can actually use the paddle through the foundations of the raft, no need being on the edge of the raft, same goes with fishing, you can fish through the foundations. OK, now to part 2.
