    Bad66chevelles, the block is empty of the pistons, the ridge reamer is fitted to the cylinder with the spinning cutter, some more smaller adjustments on the cutter. Every few cuts, the ridge reamer expands to cutting the ream at the top of each cylinder. Just cuts ever so larger until the ridge is removed. The best way to do it is, use a hand manual drill and cut the ridge. Puts muscles in the arms and shoulders. But I was about 16 when my 1933 Ford p/u flathead v8 was pulled and reringed. But oh what satisfaction when it fired up and didn’t smoke much until the rings seated. Great ride! My dad taught me the finer points of flathead building. Loved it and him.

    Your skills astound me. I like to think I'm a bit of a jack of all trades but if I'm a jack you're a king. I just watched your Studebaker interior videos and was amazed. I instantly got on eBay and Facebook marketplace looking for an old industrial or upholstery sewing machine.

    This was exactly the same back in my day 68-71 before i got drafted, i had no less than 6 engines in my 64 Corvette three Rats like this and on every 1st start it was always beauteous. Awesome 1st start. 3rd day in my binge watching and still going, Wow you are having fun and fixing stuff constantly. I could not imagine a triumph with that beast in it Yeow!

    For me ..this was a perfect engine ... short stroke and big bore .. great hrp and trq ..
    i remember long time ago , i was looking for a 396/402 . to built a 427 for my truck
    a C10 83 ... but the divorce come , and I did't have the mind to do things .. abandon my Bike for to many years and give cheap my truck and parts .. but now i want to build a engine ,it does not matter if its diesel(cummins or detroit 6v92) or my dream 427 chevy ... cheers

    This is probably going to be one of the coolest builds to date. I love the concept of it being like a 16 year old with not much money. It’s like the original hot rodders they built with junk yard parts and what they made.

  • @tomcline5631
    @tomcline5631 4 года назад +1

    Sounds like 2 old grain trucks I used to drive! Both had 427s in em. Don't know what the difference was in those,and the hot rod motors,but those 2 old Jimmy's would turn about 7500 rpms! The tach on the 68 redlined at 8000!!! Had an Over rev idiot light that would come on at 7750. Seems like they had lower compression,because they spun over real quick.
    Were fun to drive empty,but fully loaded they would literally run outta torque and would just ...stop! Loved those old beasts.

    Not many sounds better than a big block Chevy, that’s for sure. Will be a great project. I agree about not stock. Sounds like at least 230* @.050 and that’s just a very wild guess based on what little I’ve seen. Can measure lift with a dial indicator, but if it runs good anyway, it doesn’t really matters

    Love those generation of big blocks I have one a 454 H.O. out of a Itasca Sunflyer RV its a beast pushing 490 hp all stock internals with the same quadrajet carb. I look at the quadrajet carb as if it was like my old M16 in the army keep er clean it will function perfect. The one I had was all gummed up I used chemtool and a rebuild kit and now its dialed in. Are those old school moroso valve covers on the 427?. If anyone has seen two lane blacktop this motor reminds me of that movie.

    Good job on setting the timing...motor seems to have a pretty good little balance to it...l don't want to say nothing - you know more than me...l just hope you can keep the driver side steering tire on the ground - this motor here's packing some good twist...ain't there no Malibu's up there nowhere...you know l think l remember seeing a Nova in a junkyard when you went hunting a door hinge for that short bed Dodge...l guess we'll just have to wait & see how this frame/suspension/traction build goes...l know you got a lot going on up there & weather figuring into the mix & can't video everything, but l was wanting to see the machine work for the distributor - but l think l got it figured out...but l'm sure wanting to see how you narrow up that Dodge rear end...Good Video - keep em' comin' - l'm 'viewing' & 'liking'
