try to do this in open gym :) the setter set me a 14 feet, I bet he expects me to serve? lol these pipes are beautiful. I love pipe because first the middle confuse the blockers and you see the blockers and the open court and then you hit that ball as hard as you can :D I think the setter is used to setting people in the back row when they call 10 ft. so the next time I played with him again, I asked him to set me 5ft haha and then he did lmao
Because of the lower height of setting, it is much easier for hitter to nail it hardest with no hesitation...Pipe attack is the pearl of volleyball. Never forget the good pass and 3 other hitters that are running to fake for your final touch!!!
Talking to your setter allows your setter to have a sense of where you are on the court as well as a sense of timing. It can actually help your setter get in a rhythm. Plus if everyone calls out a hitting location the other team gets no advantage
Very true, calling out your hit also allows your setter to know if you're ready for the hit or not, because usually hitters don't go for the hit after a pass, because they tend to be still recovering and don't have time to get a good approach in. By calling out your hit, it tells your setter that you're are still an option even if you just passed it.
Actually he does...alot of the time. Thats where alot of points come from. Scares the crap out of their opponent because the never see it coming, same with the pipe.
spike touch is so important on the pipe because of how far off of the net you are hitting it from. That height gives these guys the angles that can't be dug by the defenders and can't be reached by the block. Nobody runs the pipe like Sander and if that is due to his massive vertical then so be it.
Japan's pipe play is not as effective as the US's pipe play, because of even though Japan has amazing outside and opposite hitters, their middle blockers are relatively weak and are not a huge threat when hitting. So in most cases when Japan runs the pipe, the other middle doesn't mark the quick, but actually marks the pipe hitter. It's different for the US, because Holt, Lee, and Smith are all amazing quick hitters who are able to just slam the ball down, which diverts attention away from the pipe hitter. The pipe hitters are allowed to almost hide behind the running middle and hit a bic (back court quick) instead of just a pipe. Plus I feel that Christensen is a much better setter than the Japanese setter, since Christensen is able to disguise his sets extremely well and most of his pipe sets are just above the spike hit of his middle's quick, so it looks like a quick, but ends up a bic.
Also Sander is the same height as Ishikawa, and they both have the same spike height, but you see Sander having an almost 80% kill rate, plus he is much more effective when he hits the pipe, almost never getting blocked.
Sho .. true ishikawa's pipe is better but usa(we called them the advanced version of japan), are way better individually & in term of team overall strength.. their pipe are way more effective then the japan.. i love both usa n japan team cuz they hv an almost similar game style and is thrilling to watch..but when both team againts each other, its like watching 12 years old big brother brawling with 6 years old lil'bro..
ishikawa's pipes are pretty good as well. not as good as taylors just because of height. and because of the overall team. usa middles are better where as japans middles aren't . its hard to fake a pipe when your middles aren't that good.
Christenson and Sanders pipe´s are awesome. A perfect set and exellent swing
The way Micah sets the pipe-there might as well not be any blockers. Very rarely does the touch affect the result of the hit 👌👌👏
Incredible!
Sander, Russell, Jaeschke, Priddy, Anderson...They are JUST Kings of Pipe!!
thank you for not adding annoying background music

one could argue that japan would be the king of pipes, but more usa players can run pipes i guess huh
90% of those are Bic. Not pipe. Micah probably the best Bic setter and Taylor probably the best Bic spiker.
Doesn't yelling out "bic" kinda give away your intention to the other team?
Not if you do it every time, plus the other team has to think about blocking three other guys too if not 4
Plus in the olympics like every country speaks different languages.

Max Holt never touches the ball ...

yes he is king of pipe because he is so tall.
i think ishikawa's pipe is better
