THE BEATLES ARE AMAZING😎
Amazing work by Ringo.
With this album (Revolver), The Beatles started becoming much more experimental: and the recording studio became important in adding to their creativity, as did drugs.
No love Songs from Lennon on this Album
I love your Beatles selections and reactions. The best band in the history of music. Keep em coming. Happy holidays 🥰🌺✌️
Being a boy where 'everything was right' sounds a load better than the girl who knows what it's like to be dead and what it is to be sad! This song was the result of a conversation Peter Fonda and John Lennon had one night while tripping on L.S.D. John got very freaked out by Fonda's death rap and as the song says he was more than ready to leave.
The Beatles are simply the best
If you like this one, you must listen Rain, saludos desde Argentina
"The Beatles were staying at a house in Los Angeles’ Benedict Canyon in late August 1965, shuttling between concert dates in Oregon, San Francisco and L.A.’s Hollywood Bowl. One afternoon, Fonda turned up with Roger McGuinn and David Crosby of the Byrds for an LSD party (McCartney abstained). When Harrison said, in the middle of his flight, that he felt like he was dying, Fonda said it was nothing to fear, that he had survived a near-fatal experience on an operating table when he was a boy. Fonda’s famous words: 'I know what it’s like to be dead.' Lennon, in his own precarious state, exploded at the actor. 'We were all on acid, and John couldn’t take it,' McGuinn recalled. 'John said, ‘Get this guy out of here.’ It was morbid and bizarre.'" --#37 "She Said, She Said", 100 Greatest Beatles Songs, Rolling Stone, April 10, 2020 Peter Fonda, son of Henry Fonda, brother of Jane Fonda, father of Bridget Fonda, later starred in the seminal 1969 film, Easy Rider. Apparently he was shot accidentally as a child and died on the operating table before getting revived and the LSD triggered the trauma which he tried to overcome by talking about it non-stop. Fonda enjoyed roles in dozens of movies over the decades, mostly biker movies and other lesser fare, but also a few stand outs including Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry (1974), Escape from L.A. (1996), Ulee's Gold (1997), Ghost Rider (2007), Wild Hogs (2007), and 3:10 to Yuma (2007). He passed in 2019 at the age of 79.
Really appreciate the background
Perfect
You can literally hear the acid squeeze out their "boy band" vibes in this album.......
I don't think they really ever had them. Brian Epstein tried to portray them that way, but I think they started finding their own vibe and stepping out of the clean cut boys Brian presented to the world. Being themselves but yeah you have some truth great comment though!
Just watched your channel for the first time and immediately subscribed!! There was some weirdness going on in 1966 (I was part of it) but the best music ever was mid 60's to early 70's in my opinion!!
Hi hon. I’m in Illinois. Thinking about you today. Thankful for everything you are. This song kicks butt, doesn’t it?
An Actor (Peter Fonda) has claimed that during a Pot Party, John overheard him running around saying "I know what it's like to be Dead". Experimenting with Drugs not only opened their minds, it added alot of Color (and Controversy) to their music.
That’s the story but I heard it was more than Pot that they were on.
@@ArniePorter You're Right! But I didn't know if calling it an "LSD party" was a Gentile way of putting it. hehehe
@@quixote6942 Psychedelics party ? LOL
@@ArniePorter Me too! It was definitely lsd. This is my favorite song of revolver and the story is a big part of that because it’s so crazy
Try "I'm Only Sleeping" from the same album,. My theme song😋😁
It was Peter Fonda that inspired this John song. Both of them tripping.
No tempo change. It was a time signature change.
This song is about a conversation that John had with Peter Fonda at a party.
Peter was tripping on LSD
Paul McCartney didn't like the tempo changes in the song. so he bowed out. very good song lennon caught a glimpse of what pop music would sound like today
That song was lennon and harrison in 1966 paul wasnt even there
Between this and Rain you can hear 90% of Oasis' music hahahaahh
lol
Triple lol
Oddly enough, he now does know what it's like to be dead. Something we shall all know soon. 🥂
Jayy, I love the look of excitement on your face, just because you're going to listen to The Beatles
❤
One of my favorite Beatles’ songs. Have you reviewed “Rain”, flip side of Paperback Writer”?
Good pick 👍
John song. Good one
If I remember it was a lassie speaking nonsense to Lennon during a party when they were both tripping on acid. She kept saying she knew what it was like to be dead etc
It was Peter Fonda, actually. The song changes the gender to protect the guilty.
So good. ✌💛
Revolver is (one of) some say, THE best album by the Beatles. I read that these comments were overheard by John while high on acid, at a party in L.A. at Stephen Stills' house.
You volume is too low. I can barely hear you on this reaction.
Good song good reaction
John lennon wrote that song right after dropping acid for the first time. When he was doing that Peter Fonda was standing in the back of him. Saying I know what you're seeing, I know what you're seeing. And what he was feeling That was because of the drug. The beatles didn't write many drug songs but that was definitely 1 Of the few.
But don't get me wrong. No one went out of his way more just say drug for bad than john lennon. Definitely in the song cold turkey with definitely a good example of a anti drug Song saying it was definitely bad for you.
Everything is not literal. It's just a song. Like to be dead, not actually dead.
Beatles goes psychedelic smoke pot and made a great album
And Klaus Voorman designed what I consider the greatest album cover in history for it.
@Snerd Terguson Revolver was ahead of its time that's why it wasn't as popular as Seargent Pepper which was perfect for 1967.
Don't get me wrong. No one went out of his way More than john lennon saying that drugs were bad for you. Cold Turkey was definitely a good example of song.
He wrote this song in a bathtub with a girl during a LSD party and this was the conversation he had with her,,, they just sat in a empty tub talking super high
Even before SGT PEPPER , the bands music was changing . In shows where the guys are interviewed , they talk about how this dentist they knew offered them LSD . In the months that followed , they started writing mysterious , complex stuff like this .
Love Ringo's drums in this one
Time to wake up! Because the Beatles did it for you decades ago!!!!
McCartney is not in this. Very rare thing.
lennon could write about anything and turned into a song anyway
Peter fonda said i know its like to be dead...and freaked lennon out at a party
John seemed to have conversations with women that became intellectual duels -- this woman tried to sound cosmic by being a downer, and John says no, I've felt joy in my life, sadness isn't the meaning of existence - and by the way, you're a bore, I'm leaving -- another one in this vein is Norweigian Wood -- in that one, the girl brags to him all night about her good taste, then rejects him and he takes revenge
apparently it's really about Peter Fonda, and John just changed it to a woman for the song
Thus is the song I can get lost in music
thanks!! for sharing
did it make you cry like me ?
😭
For anyone out there who doesn't know The Beatles and John Lennon well, the she in 'She said' is actually a famous actor by the name of Peter Fonda. John and Fonda were friends and at a gathering of the two, Fonda started reading from the book The Tibetan Book of The Dead which freaked out Lennon a lot and inspired this very unique song with a somewhat cloaked meaning. Yeah, I'm a major Beatles fan!
I think Fonda (possible Lennon too) were tripping on acid when he read that, I thought he didn't read it though.
Now thats.... cool
During recording Paul , for some reason had a disagreement with George Martin, producer, walked out and George Harrison played bass on this song.
He didn't get his way as usual 😂
Gold..
I seen an interview with George Martin, the Beatles manager. He said John and some friends were tripping on acid and there was a woman there who kept talking and talking and saying wierd shit. Thats where this song came from according to George. I'm no authority on the Beatles but just putting that out there. If I'm wrong someone correct me
I had read that it was Peter Fonda saying it.
*saw
@@kitty1376 or "I've seen"
@@kitty1376 thanks mom
John Lennon said he wrote the song after having a conversation with Jane Fonda
PETER Fonda
They changed the time signature, not the tempo. They went from 4/4 to 3/4 and back again.
I think it's LSD both in the text and in the music, you know, the Beatles used to write pop songs before, they discovered LSD and something like this appeared, by the way, this is one of my favorite songs
This an old reaction?
Because...this song was remixed and released with a new video a couple of weeks ago. This is the old version and it doesn't show up when you type it in. A bit strange that she would be listening to this version now.
That was cool.. the beatles she said she said
Great song.
