I know this video is somewhat older but I just watched it and I felt very compelled to comment. I am a former law enforcement officer/detective of 10+ years for a very large county near Atlanta, GA. I would first of all like to say that what you guys are doing is EXCELLENT!!!! Cleaning up our rivers and finding valuables and returning them to their rightful owners is to be commended. I myself am a certified scuba AOW diver and I do a lot of underwater metal detecting and trash cleanup as well. I also do my best in returning lost valuables, that I am fortunate to recover, to the respectful owners. After watching this video, I have to say that I am 110% completely appalled!!!!! As if there is not enough crime being committed in a large city such as Columbus, GA, and then for an ON DUTY police officer to take the time to watch you, and then nonetheless harass you, literally infuriates me!! He definitely should have been dealing with more serious issues of criminal activity that were no doubt being committed during the time he absolutely wasted questioning you (not to mention the waste of tax payer's dollars...... ). Add in the fact that you pointed out, and had video of, the PFD you were wearing the entire time, and then the the officer continued to harass you about it, completely irritates me beyond imagination. I've also viewed another video of DALLMYD where Jake was present (once again in Columbus) and you guys had on a type of "leg PFD" and were questioned by a zealous officer. KUDOS TO YUPPY FOR HIS CHALLENGING COMMENTS TO THE OFFICER REGARDING, "ARE YOU WEARING A GUN...... ARE YOU WEARING A CAMERA...." I loved it and so do my other Law Enforcement comrades who viewed your video who stand up for, and stand behind, the COMMON SENSE side of law enforcement. Even though they weren't "Coast Guard approved PFD's", you guys still made the absolute concerted effort of SAFETY, bottom line!!!! As a Law Enforcement Officer, until the situation dictates otherwise, you have to police with a heart, dignity, common sense, well-being, and above all, ALWAYS.... AND I MEAN ALWAYS, treat others as you want to be treated!!! You guys keep doing what you are doing and stand up for yourselves as you have so respectfully done. God Bless.

I watched a video on RUclips last night and I said to myself I will not get upset well I was so wrong because I was enraged and feel like going out and handling this myself. There's a lot of American Patriots that are going to stand up against this corruption when they his s*** hits the fan and these enemies of America without accountability and the positions of authority are going to be held accountable got back to the story it showed two big policeman brutalize an 87-year old elderly woman who wandered across the street from her home and was picking herbs to make tea or something she could not even speak English she had heart problems and they pushed her to the ground and tased her??

The ticket doesn’t mean your guilty, the cop can’t find you guilty that’s what a court is for. Stop crying about it, shit happens so move on. Cops aren’t always right, that comes with being human. If you’re so affected by the police officers course of action, next time YOU’RE in trouble, please don’t call the cops. If I were you, I’d be wearing a bright coloured device anyway so I could be seen at a distance whilst it’s not inflated. I also think you were wrong saying that the cop changed his mind when you pulled the big camera out. He clearly said you weren’t wearing one with the first camera. He admitted he was wrong and backed down, but your buddy was stupid enough not to be wearing a device when he clearly knew he should have one so deserved the ticket.

Also, when does he think he put it on if he wasn't wearing it? Did the cop think he pull the vest out of his ass and put it on? Lacking common sense.
So he comes along dishing out citations and wild accusations, meanwhile his helmet strap wasn't secured correctly. 🤔

happens way to often. There looking at it like its a game me vs you when they should be only concerned about justice so many people plead guilty to infractions there not guilty of to avoid the embarrassment of fighting the case or there not able to miss work. They give incentives to plead guilty per plea agreement which in my mind is anything but justice. Courts need to implement a new system aimed toward justice and not policing for profit

Citations aren't about public safety; they're about generating city revenue. It's as simple as that. This is why it's imperative that dashcams be used when driving, and interactions with police also be recorded.

I got a littering ticket in a small town for 750 dollars because I teach my kids when we go camping, we always leave it in better shape than we found the area. That being said, my kids and I were picking up a ton of garbage and piling it up when a cop came in the woods and ticketed us for throwing it on the ground. I was so pissed. I just explained to him what we were doing and what I tech my children. He refused to listen, later I got the littering ticket for 750 dollars.
On the other hand Thanks for cleaning the river...we need more people doing that.

The policeman acted foolishly and got ahead of himself. Plus he was so intent on issuing the citation maybe he had a quota he had to fill. ...but really I think the bike and cop suit made him feel powerful. 😂🤣... (I know that wasn’t nice🤭)

I would have let him issue me the ticket, then show the court how incompetent his is. Maybe the court would have dismissed both citations.

yeah but wouldn't you have to pay court fees just to appeal? I had to pay $70 AUD to appeal a fine. at the end of the day they still got their revenue.

I was hassled by a Park Ranger in San Diego emptying garbage cans in the parking lot into a dumpster. I was wearing an official volunteer T-Shirt for the the property ! He accused me of stealing full garbage cans and told me to stop or face arrest.

The cop was obviously trying to fill a quota and I am from a law enforcement family. Number 1 cops are human they aren’t always right, two no one is going to pay for missed work to go argue in court. Three he had whitenesses and video the cop didn’t want to wait and see four the cop could have reviewed his own video as soon as the guy stated he was wearing it. The cop assumed he wasn’t wearing one because he could go under water. Two the cop saw him walk out of the water and knew he was wrong. Instead of admitting he made a mistake he was an ass and abused his position of power. This tape should be brought to this cops supervisor so he could be reprimanded. How many other people has he cited for false claims to fill his quota giving good cops a bad name
I think the big problem is why is an adult braking the law when not wearing a flotation device while swimming? Government... I do NOT need your protection from myself & what I chose to do...FREEDOM!

I'm surprised he didn't ask to see your swimming certificate. Why do you need a floatation device to enter a river? The river next to my house has crocodiles in it. Theres a sign that says enter at your own risk.
Dan McLaughlin In the river near me, you don't have to wear a vest when you go swimming. You don't even have to wear them when your on a boat, but you do have to have them on the boat and little kids are required to wear them while on a boat.
the river that goes through the city of Columbus OH, the Scioto river, has several low head dams among the hazards that they listed as the stuff they clean up. it is a preventative measure for the city to keep the citizens safe. it is also rather common for live vest to be required for boating and other aquatic activities that are not swimming. in designated swimming areas of lakes, rivers and oceans that have been cleared such requirements are not nessisary.

might be a city or county law, either way its the law. you commit the crime you pay the fine. I for one if I throw trash out of my car, its a crime in Texas, penalty up to 1000 dollars, I think its stupid, but hey, its the law.

You said you could dive if needed with that vest. Is that considered a comp vest? I'm looking for something with more flexibility but have been told comp vests aren't level where life jackets are required. Any advice is appreciated.
The fact that you are helping the wildlife and cleaning the river makes you a very good role model for young kids, the city should show their gratitude for you guys by buying you all new vests and give you all $200 towards equipment that you need.

Wow. I live in Columbus and people are going missing and shooting up people and the police are on your backs about wearing a vest. Well to be fair, a lot of popular rivers have no recorded deaths of persons wearing a PFD and dozens of deaths from people who weren’t. There’s some math there.
I am sorry but a lot of rivers have stronger currents than the swimmers, yes maybe at a certain part of the river is calm. I live on the river I can't ever think of a time were someone with a life vest drowned, but I damn well know they pull out a few people a year, who didn't. Yea i get your liberties to swim without a life vest, or forfeited with this law but its not about personal choice its about the amount of man power, and money that is involved getting the victims of strong current.
+Colvie films. It's not even a life jacket but a swimming vest. A life jacket keeps your head out of the water but it's hard to swim with. A swimming vest is just to compensate the eight of the clothes but when you are face won in the water you stay face down and drown.

How is going to a judge going to help Jordan? It's not, because he could've cited Jordan, it's within his powers to do so. However, if Jordan testified in court, then, the charge (more than likely) would've been dropped. Cops make mistakes, you seriously can't expect every cop to be perfect at their job.
