Wow Marina I love your movie home designs and the way you describe how all the principals were apply to make a non typical movie home I think we all should think outside the box and create really unique home designs.
Yay! I love hearing that because that is exactly the take-away people leave with. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
Gorgeous. This set as well as the house set from Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner have always been two of my favorite film homes.
Yes! I love that home as well and will be creating a tour of it someday.
As someone who loves vintage house plans, I really love this channel. I really love the design tidbits offered as to how and why the designers made their decisions. It really has made me look around my own home in a different way and make some tweeks based on what Marina has talked about.
My suggestion for a future house study is the Donna Reed show.
I will be doing that home someday
This is probably my favorite house tour yet--I love Mid Century design.
Thank you. I love this home so much. I wish I could walk through one just like it in real life.
The Mason-ry is amazing!
Isn't he the BEST?! If he's in a movie, I'll watch it.
So many have viewed and enjoyed A Star is Born already, encluding me. Like all of your home tours this is exceptional. I love it and looking forward to more. Good luck Marina
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed this one. It's one of my favorite movie homes. So gorgeous. Right now I'm working on, "It's a Wonderful Life." It should be out by December 10th.

Thank you for your time and effort, making this other world, to share this with us. If you are looking for suggestions on future projects, I would like to propose the mansion in the movie Casper made in 1995. It was certainly unique.
I haven't gotten that suggestion before. I'll check it out. Thanks.
Another amazing tour Marina, and one of my favorite movies. You go beyond architecture in your analysis, especially with the art. The Masks painting might be traced back to an Emile Nolde painting from 1910, also called Masks. It is in the collection of the Nelson-Atkins Museum in Kansas City where I was employed for many years. George Cukor was a big fan of German Expressionist art, and may have had the studio artists whip a contemporary copy adjacent up.
Thank you! I love added information and insights like this.
Wow....this is one of my favorite movies. I watch it whenever I am on a long flight. Judy Garland was absolutely brilliant and beautiful.
Thank you for sharing this with us. Your attention to detail is amazing.
Love your wonderful channel! 💖💗💖💗💖💗💖
Thank you! I discovered this version on a flight a few years ago and fell in love with it. Judy, James Mason and of course the set design.
What an amazing tour, and your recreation work is stunning! Love your thoughts about design being personal. So many interesting points, I love what you said about the home having the "stages" for the actors. I have seen the two other more recent films of the same name, but I'm so excited to watch this version after your tour!
I love hearing that - that it makes you want to watch the movie. I discovered this version of A Star is Born on a flight a few years ago and fell in love with it. It is now on my top 3 list of favorite movies.
One warning before you watch it. A few small parts of the film were destroyed and they filled them in with still shots from the film. It's not very much - just a few little patches. So hang in there when you get to those. They don't last long. They still have the original sound, just not the footage at those points.

@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane Many thanks.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane Thank you for letting me know, I'll watch out for that! Love your wonderful recreation of the home!
I'd love it if you did an episode on the movie "Down with Love" and the apartments in it. It's not a vintage movie but shows vintage MCM style and the apartments are so over-the-top and fun.
I'll check it out. Thanks.
That home is my taste in interior design. It's so stunningly beautiful!
It is an incredible home!
When I saw the title to this video about A Star is Born my mind immediately went to the Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson version. That is the version I saw in the 70s ..I always forget this movie was made earlier and now a later version I have to say you never disappoint. Your videos are just beautiful.!
Thank you. I grew up with the 70s version too - in fact it's the first movie I saw with my future husband, so it has a good connection with me. But, the home in this version steals the show.
There is also a version from the 1930s with Janet Gaynor and Frederic March. To be honest, that's my favorite.
Beautiful! One of my favorite movies. Thanks for posting this incredible home!
Mine too! It's in my top 3 favorite movies.
I saved the two videos for today to relax and enjoy. Always love your videos Marina what a treat. Got my coffee and my cozy blanket with a fire going and watch your wonderful videos. Thank you Marina♥️
I love knowing people enjoy these videos. Thank you for letting me know.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane Your welcome have been watching your videos for a long while. Love every one of them♥️

Thank you! I just love this channel. I am learning a lot too in terms of decorating my own home. (I keep thinking every time I see that really tall tree in the glass enclosure space to the left that I would want that on a pivoting base so that I could rotate it and the other plants over time so they would be balanced. That's the gardener in me talking......)
I'm glad you found the channel and are learning a lot. 😊
I have just discovered (and subscribed) to your insightful channel. Another home I have always adored is this one from A Star is Born. So inspired was I by this set, I have two genuine leather white Barcelona chairs in my living room, separated by a large coffee table atop an enormous rug, all overlooking the ocean. I also have the two Barcelona foot stools at the end of my master bed. My friends call them my "Thunderbird" chairs and stools, as Barcelona chairs were also featured in the Tracey Island home of the Thunderbirds series. But my family know them from the Maine's beachside home from A Star is Born.
I love this so much!
And...lucky you with a view of the ocean. 🌊
Another great tour, Marina. Thank you! ❤️
Glad you enjoyed it!
this was on TCM yesterday afternoon (thanksgiving) - fun to watch the movie & your video - thanks marina! :)
I wish I'd known that. Funny that I happened to post it today.
Thanks Marina. I loved this movie and this house.
Me too! It's my favorite version of A Star is Born. And the home, of course, is to die for. And - Judy and James Mason! Stunning performances.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane This is the only version of the movie I seen. Judy and James were both awesome in this movie.
@@gailwatson4927 Yes! Superb performances.
That was a amazing home it’s like today’s modern home especially the fire place❤️🔥 happy thanksgiving Marina😘
Same to you! I love this home so much!
The A Star is Born series of remakes are a huge favorite for me! Although the Kris Kristofferson-Barbra Streisand version is my favorite, the house in this version has always stuck with me. I couldn't click on this fast enough! I'm not disappointed!
That's great! I'm glad it was a "fast click."
Beautiful home. Thanks for the video.
I'm glad you liked it.
Love living room
Me too!
You are so skilled! I hope you are well.
Thank you!
Judging by your profile name, you might want to know that I plan on doing The Ghost and Mrs. Muir someday.
I have made many other homes too. You can see all of the other TV and movie home tours I've made here: ruclips.net/user/MarinaCoavideos?view_as=subscriber
Another great video. Excited to hear you're going to be doing some more movie houses - hope you'll do some I've mentioned in previous comments "Giant", "Parasite", Tara from GWTW and Holly's apartment from "Breakfast at Tiffany's". Keep up the good work.
Thanks. Giant, GWTW and Breakfast at Tiffany's are all on my list.

Speechles......
Thank you!
As always, fantastic job!
Thank you!
Loved it! Well done!
Thanks so much!
I love your work.
Thank you!
Your videos are very insightful and a wonderful way for people to learn about the craft behind these homes. In that spirit, I would ask that you please credit the Set Decorator in your videos. The Set Decorator collaborates and partners with the Production Designer in creating the world you see on film or TV. The Set Decorator is responsible for anything that is not part of the "architecture" of the set: the Lighting, Rugs, Drapery, Art, Furniture, Smalls, - all of this is the responsibility of the Set Decorator. Though beautifully, carefully and artistically designed, these spaces are empty until the Set Decorator brings life to them with their craft.
Thanks for that input. That's a great idea.
Nice! Where would you choose to place a Christmas Tree in this home? I would have fun decorating the huge mantel over the fireplace for Christmas with lots of Christmas things.
At one point in the movie they have a Christmas tree up. They have it placed behind the brown sofa and slightly to the left.
❤️
A scrumptious home!
How about the Banks house in Mary Poppins?
That's a good idea.
I wonder what the dining room, kitchen(though I imagine they never cooked but had a chef) and bedrooms were like.
Me too! We catch a glimpse of his bedroom at one point. And we know where the kitchen was, but don't get to see inside. I'd love to see what the set designers would have done with the kitchen. I might have to revisit this home someday and go ahead and take us there. Such a cool home. I'd love to walk through one like it in real life.

According to the overhead view on 7.10 they have the projector outside on the lawn when they do movie night? 🤔
Remember the artwork that I showed being rolled up? The projector was behind that. They sat in the furniture grouping by the fireplace. The screen came down out of the ceiling just before the patio sliding doors. I wish I would have mentioned that.
You can see all of the other TV and movie home tours I've made here: ruclips.net/user/MarinaCoavideos?view_as=subscriber
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane What I mean is: in the overhead view the artwork seems to be on the inside of an outer wall. There is no room behind the painting. Only grass.
@@wilbertplijnaar3992 I see what you're talking about. That is because I didn't finish that area. We weren't shown that room. But, if I was to finish it out, there are two doors right by where the "y" in the word "entry" that would lead into it. It would be a very small room, so I imagine it was just meant to be a room for the projector and not much else. Thanks for pointing that out! I hadn't thought it through before.
When is the Hillbillies mansion coming?
I don't have a date on it yet. It could be awhile.
Another very interesting video. But this video really confused me. First, this is the 1951 film? I never saw that version. I never even knew it existed. I not a great film buff. I was also surprised to see Erwin Rommel in a movie with Judy Garland. Keep up the good work ... thanks.
I discovered this version on a flight a few years ago and fell in LOVE. Not just the home either, although that is incredible, but the performances by Judy and James Mason too.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane
Thanks ... I'll have to have a look at it.
@@robertbarnett3980 Just a heads up if you watch the movie - there are a few brief parts of the film that were destroyed and they've filled them in with still images, but the sound is still there. It isn't very much of the film at all, just brief patches. I just don't want you to give up or think something is wrong with the service you're getting it through.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane
Ha, I never saw this movie
It's in my top 3 favorites.
Is there any design reason why the art is placed the way it is over the mantel? It feels so unbalanced and would probably drive me crazy! haha
I noticed that. I didn't get the reasoning either. I love everything about this home and I love the art they chose. But the placement of the art on the fireplace doesn't quite work for me. Im glad you brought that up. I bet there are others that feel the same.
