Awesome video. Thanks for sharing your hunt. I love seeing videos that show that you DON'T have to spend $1000's, to enjoy hunting. Because I personally can't but still successfully hunt every year.
@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors yea I see you talking about scouting a lot which I have been doing. What am I looking for other than deer sign. Should I follow game trails?
Great shot on a beautiful buck!! Out of curiosity, I saw you representing the J3X shirt but why did you go with a climber on this hunt as opposed to the J3X or another saddle? I was always a lock on guy until I had over $500 worth of gear stolen. Then I went to a climber but don't enjoy it that much and am just getting into saddles. I am really leaning towards the J3X am always looking for thoughts on why people choose what they did for a hunt. Thanks!! --Brent
Hey man thank you for watching! And to answer you question I do hunt out of a JX3 as well and a traditional saddle and a lock-on haha I’m not really a one stop shop! I use them all depend on what the tree options are! I’m a climber guy from way back haha it is my preferred method. But I’m short in the river bottom where I was at there were a lot of tree options in general that week so I just stuck with what I’m more comfortable filming out of which was my climber!
@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors Perfect. Thanks. I hunt public land here in FL now (on Eglin AFB property) but have hunted in TX, AR, MT, NY, AZ, and CO (places I was assigned) and never had a problem with anyone messing with my stuff and I had almost always used tree sticks and hang on stands that I would leave in the woods. I had never used a climber but I bought one and used it the last two years. Because of the area, and I am not that big of a fan of the climber, I wanted to get into the saddle hunting more. Back in the 80's my father made a "saddle" type device out of old seat belts (three of them that came together in the front to a ring) and we would climb trees with screw in steps and tie ourselves in with old lobster crab rope, no safety on the way up either so i have that as a frame of reference. LOL. We used to cover a lot of ground and then climb a likely tree. I am leaning towards the JX3 heavily and will probably pull the trigger (hunting pun intended! LOL) in the next day or so so I have a few months to play with it. But I have alligator tags too so that will take precedence in August! Thanks again! I subscribed and am tolling through your other videos. Looking forward to new content too! Awesome stuff! --Brent
I don't think i feel confident enough to go for a spine shot like that. Good looking buck, congrats. Was trying to still hunt the last dog season down here in SW Mississippi and had dogs run one through about 150 yards away that was probably as big as that boy. I was set up in the wrong place at the right time.
Clifton can shoot.. he put the whup on me this year at our spring shoot. lol. He was also our guest speaker & did a great job. Looking forward to crushing some deer with him this year.
Awesome buck bro and all that hard work payed off. I had a similar shot I didn’t take on a buck last year and looking back I regret it. I built my arrows heavy for those plan B shots but I just didn’t pull the trigger. Next time!
I had walked over 30 miles in the timber in the last 6 days and there was more sign in that spot than anywhere else I had seen. The natural pinch mixed with the sign was close to a for sure thing
Congratulations what stud for Mississippi got a couple of good friends in the state and hoping one day we can get together and go weather public or private
Ya need to do a video with ur camera setup and all that gear you use to edit videos and all that. If ya don’t mind. Or if you have send me a link to it.
Not one I’d recommend taking unless is the perfect situation for sure. I was shooting a mega meat 3 blade large cutting broadhead at 8 yards I had confidence in that shot. But with a two blade I wouldn’t have taken it for sure!
Just now seeing this. Just trying to help y'all NOT get a ticket in the future. From MDWFP: All deer hunters must wear, in full view, a minimum of 500 square inches of solid UNBROKEN continuous daylight fluorescent hunter orange material during open gun seasons on deer. The orange camo isn't legal. Y'all be careful!

I agree!! Thank you for watching!
Mississippi in house I still believe we got sum of the best river bottoms and hardwoods!!! Tough huntin public down here!!! We get it done tho
No doubt I live in the central part of Ms and I hunt public woods and it does get sweaty but we do have some really really nice deer
So adorable when you called your wife. Beautiful buck! Congrats!
Thank you!
Freaking good ending dude I was tensed up!
Thanks buddy! That trip was a grind till the end!
Heck of a buck! Congrats
Thank you!
You did that! Excellent showing and what a shot.
Thank you buddy!
Whew man this gets me pumped for deer season! glad you waited till post it.
3 1/2 months to go here in Bama.
Yes sir!!! I couldn’t hold out any long hahaha
What climber was that? Sorry if you talk about it later, halfway through the episode now
Lone wolf hand climber
Gotta love that summer time weather in January lol great video
It was the worst
I’m a Mississippi native and I hunt nothing but WMA’s. One swampy and one hilly to me, the hilly places are easier to hunt than the swampy places.

Congratulations nice buck man maybe I’ll see you out here one day stay safe
Man same too you! Eric will be back down there the end of December, he drew a hunt
How do you decide where y’all are gonna set up on any given public land?
I use OnX map and spend hours map scouting an area normally even months before we go

What do u prefer as saddle / harness when hunting from a hang - on stand ?
Clifton have you hunted yet from a JX3 ? I was just wondering. Nice hunt it was fun to watch.
Thank you! And yes sir I have multiple times! Super comfortable!
What saddle u running in this video ? Is it the xop hybrid ?

Great kill. Congratulations. I just moved to Mississippi this year and I’m looking forward to hunting some public land this year.
Thank you!
Mississippi is a lot like Arkansas and I love it! Plenty of public land
That's a good Mississippi deer bo good job!
Thank you!
Great buck Congrats!
Did that deer have a tail wind coming into you’re setup?
And what exactly made you so excited to hunt that spot?
I had walked over 30 miles in the timber in the last 6 days and there was more sign in that spot than anywhere else I had seen. The natural pinch mixed with the sign was close to a for sure thing
Super nice buck and cool video
Thank you!
where at in the delta. I do most of my hunting up there.
That was awesome great job
Thank you!
I would appreciate if you would do a long term review on the mega meat G5
Broadhead’s
I absolutely will! Bc I’ll be shooting them again this season
Nice buck and hell of a shot. Need a review on that bike! Been looking for a cheaper option.
It’s on my channel I did the review about a month ago buddy

Where in Mississippi? I hunt panther swamp NWR so I am curious if that is where you were

Awesome
Did you put a follow up shot into the deer?
I did not the deer expired within prob 30 seconds
PS NWR? Awesome public land buck.
Are you hunting in Natchez?
Negative
Looks just like the cotton mouth unit in Natchez
I hate to be that guy but like I’m pretty sure you can’t wear that orange vest in Mississippi. Law states unbroken solid orange vest.
Good hunt beautiful buck. And I think I’m going to shoot the mega meats this year also they just look wicked!
Thank you!
And they are nasty!!!

Man. Probably the most unethical shot you could’ve taken. Nice buck tho, 👍🏻
😂
Not the best choice of shot placement.
It worked though at 8 yards I felt confident in it
