I know I run the risk on pooping on everybody’s parade. Yes the TDX is a beautiful coach. But a BEV as opposed to the diesel? With the heater or AC going full blast, how much juice are you really going to have before crapping out? I say this about the J4500 too as well as any BEV. Time well tell but still not convinced.
I totally agree!!! Will just call this a city bus non long distance machine!! I wasn't impressed with those small dimension slide in batteries myself. Seems a wee bit small I'd say!!
And thats 200 miles optimal... you can at least halve that for real world driving when fully loaded with passengers and air con firing. But it is a start.
200 miles is nothing but it is a very nice coach seats are very nice and I guess if your using the bus within the city it’s kinda worth it but definitely not for a long distance trip
I think it's one of those things as you would call a publicity stunt it's obviously attracting and I think a lot of people would be lured to it and want to ride it
@@user-xc2vm4tum power grid definitely couldn't handle now as it it- Also I'm a fan of the electric stuff but the range needs to be alot better before we over indulge in this total electric vehicle stuff
@@DustinNehl I agree 100% not sure if your in CA but this past summer was very hot that gov Newsom and SoCal Edison were telling people not to charge their electric vehicles because there was a chance of power outage .
@@user-xc2vm4tum haha I heard all about that!!! Unbelievable!! Going against all the greenie beliefs! I'm up in Oregon! Been watching wrecked teslas at coparts - tons of them there! My best buddy and I are thinking about doing a conversion to a diesel engine to one just as a hoooot
For those commenting that 200 miles is not enough: sure, for applications that require greater distances. Not every drive is over that and it is for those this coach is suited. Longer distances? Go diesel. Y'all go on like someone is taking your dino juice away.
I'd to say this bus as has been designed primarily to do those day tourism excursions on cities where environmental restrictions are being made by the municipalities. The batteries simply occupy so much space on where a trunk should have been. In no way will a bus company redeploy a bus like this on a regular inter-cities line without a good trunk. And for the sake of us: This bus has a high density inside configuration. Nothing luxurious about this!... This isn't your extra-long-haul ultra-luxury bus out there! For that go diesel, LNG, or when available green hydrogen powered units, please!...
That's what they say!! Id like to see how they play out going up hill all day with 80k pounds-- And also the salted roads back east!!! Salt and corrosion don't play well with batteries
whoa, that bus runs entirely on 3 AAA batteries!

I'd love to take a long trip on a bus like this. I would actually 'want' to take this bus as an alternative, but only if it's electric.
fantastic review of a fantastic coach

Yes, but does it steer just as well (maybe better?) than the diesel version?

Yes sir I couldn't have said it better myself, I do like the interior and floor plan setup though

Hydrogen may eventually take over electric buses
It just might! Right now Cummins has got a pretty outstanding hydrogen program going on right now
200 miles for a bus, not practical at all.
Yea this is strictly what I'd call stunt to grab the attention of the electric crowd
Don’t a electric car can go further than that
@@mxchael9931 yes about 300 and some change
it will burn up fine you cant put out fire
On the norm it takes 10 thousands gallons to put out a Tesla car fire!!!!

Yeah-- not cool- 200 miles is hardly worth the point of it
Tesla's semi truck can go farther fully loaded
