    Really like that satin finish--a very handsome blade. I could see that filling the puuko role nicely.

      @@BushCampingTools Hello Mr. Bush Camping Tools, you always give good advice. I would like to know what's the difference bewteen the Extrema Ratio "Waki" machete and the Blackfield Machet sword ? They look alike. Thank you very much, Stay Safe and don't get any more vaccines.

    I really like this finish!
    I always appreciated much more the clean satin design over the coated blades even when I bought several knives with a black coating. But if there would had been the choice between a satin and a coated version I would always choose the satin.
    This knife really benefits from this small step to the clean and pure design. It feels like this model is now completed in it's design!
    By the way - I would not describe this knife as a small knife.
    I would call it a short knife ;-)
    The whole design looks like this is a big knife in a short version.
    Anyway - nice review, Francis.
    Thank you very much.

      Hi Diderich, once again, you have provided an excellent summary of this product from ER. Yes the satin finish is def very nice. It would be cool to see the T4000S also released in a satin finish. LOL, yes u are right it's really a short knife as the tang is hardly small!

      LOL, that is the killer question and if I answer that here my missus will say I can chuck all the rest out! (including all other brands as well LOL). They pretty much all get the same amount of use I guess, maybe the RAOII gets the most use if only day trips but then again I've had my black version out of the T4000C quite often, even cutting wild mushrooms-I don't go in for specific mushroom knives-never have.

    I've seen you using the desert warfare coated blade for food prep. Do you feel that their coating's are safe enough so long as they're intact, ie not chipping out. So far all I've seen the satin t4000c goin for $300 us. A full 70 or so bucks more than the full handle shrapnel og in dw. I'm looking for a knife to always be in the car for an emergency. May need it to prep food, may need it to baton enough wood to cook that food. Nothing major but be able to split in a pinch. Sorry for the ramble. Love ur content

      I think this stuff is just fine. The golden color of the desert warfare is actually how the laser colors the N690, the darker areas are probably a coating though. I wrote a blog about CeraKote if u haven't already read it. Let me know and I will discuss more

      @@BushCampingTools one quick thing I saw how you demonstrated striking a Ferro rod off of the fulcrum near the guard. In you experience do most all of extrema's blades have this ability or will others not throw a better spark than another model. I'm looking for a better blade than the ones I have to actually stake my life on in any type of situation that may arise.

    • @BushCampingTools
      @BushCampingTools  2 года назад

      @@DOA_Ghetto All ER knives with those types of guards can be used to throw spark. remembering that not aLL FERRO RODS re of equal quality ie good quality alloy to make sparks. See my earlier vids on how to throw sparks with common materials.

    This knife is a prototype performer for me: As ugly as it gets, but awesome when it comes to doing some work.
    Question: Have you actually ever lost a knife bolt?

    • @BushCampingTools
      @BushCampingTools  3 года назад +1

      LOL, never lost a knife bolt! But i don't pull apart my knives in the field, even if it's weeks before seeing some proper clean environment. If YT is to be believed then it appears that many love pulling aspart things and would def loose a bolt or two LOL. But yeah in reality nope.

    • @BushCampingTools
      @BushCampingTools  3 года назад +1

      Hi there, trust me once you have one of these grips in your hands you'll release they are far from a gimmick. I thought exactly the same when i got my first one, in fact I though OMG what kind of craziness is this but that all flew out the window when I put my hands upon the grip. They really did work with a Uni group specialising in biomechanics for the design of this grip. But yeah, the satin finish here is very nice indeed and I have to say looks better than the blackened one (even though I own it too LOL).
