"Even I would watch Peaky Blinders with subtitles on" - Cillian Murphy
He said that?
@@eldoc5901 yeah I guess 😅, I found it through one of his fan accounts.
I don't understand people from Liverpool and Austrália.
cillian is irish right

That's easy. Arthur is the worst....
@@cboydcoy5242 agreed
@@cboydcoy5242hell nah, Alfie is the worst
Surprisingly, despite being a foreigner, I understood the dialects perfectly, including the ones in this video! You're a very good teacher
Actually it maybe connected (the fact you are a foreigner and the fact you understood) because native speakers of English usually have a bias towards their accent unknowingly, so when they hear another accent they usually will not understand it. But the foreigner doesn't have this kind of bias. I'm a foreigner too so I learned my English from a lot of sources so I usually will understand most of the accents I hear.
@@dovnotarius2825 could you please tell some of your sources ?
Right!! It happened to me too and your explanation makes so much sense :0
@@tiagozimermann9028 I dont know, maybe its because you only learned American English and only heard murica accent. BTW I love the sideman.
@@ruunsaid976 Im not a scientist, I speak from personal experience. Its just the thing that makes the most sense to me.
I love your enthusiasm and passion you put in your teaching 👏👏
I think Brits generally have a very good ear for deciphering accents because we're used to hearing a variety of them. I didn't realise people as far down as Birmingham used "our" when talking about close family members, eg "our John". I always thought that was a very northern thing.
My dar use to speak doric lol
We usually say "That's our nan" or "our uncle went to the shops" although we never usually say "our *name* went to the shops" or "That's our *name* ", though I don't speak for everyone in Birmingham, this is just in my case.
Same as Aussies
i completely agree with you, i always find accents easy to decipher tbh the only ones i cant understand are those really thick irish accents
I'm Brazilian, and I've been studying English by myself for the last 10 years and Peaky Blinders is by far the hardest content to understand that I ever seen. To me, the worst to understand is Arthur and Tommy as well some times, he's always whispering
The worst was for me Jons wife Esme. Cant figure the hell out what this woman is saying.
The worst for me was the female communist
The moment when youve lived in London for most of your life and are completely fluent and understand every accent- yet still watch this because you find it interesting and are amused by the quality of this content. Amazing teacher, very creative as well! Love your dedication in helping others learn English and the importance of varied accents!💜💜💜
Born and raised in Small Heath, now 71 and still living half a mile away, love my city, the people and the accent.
Same! Im 36 now ❤️
Thatˋs really my favorite accent! I worked for years with friends from the west mildlands and Birmingham. 👍
I am entirely fluent English, don’t speak any other language, and understand every single word of this show - and yet this video is still super entertaining
Wow I'm fascinated at how much I love watching your videos on Brummie accents
I really enjoyed these videos with Peaky Blinders! It would be nice if you can do other lessons with different movies/ series similar to this one. These lessons are extremely entertaining and I can learn without getting bored. Thank you a lot for all the lessons that you provide for us❤!
As somebody from south east asia who didn't have english as their first language. I can understand what they were saying perfectly. What's harder is trying to understand the carribean accents that are common in California. I can understand the peaky blinders without subtitles but I stright up go whiplash when I met a jamaican guy on the bus.
I'm from South Asia, and I know what you're talking about. Had no problem watching this series. I struggled a bit with the Italian accent though. Haven't really faced someone with Carribean accent.
I love your teaching so fun and engaging. I'm indian i got about 95% right this feels satisyfying for some reason😂
I'm American and the only one I got less than 90% right was the one with music in the background 😅 I usually am pretty good at understanding English accents because I've watched a lot of shows and celebrities with strong accents, like being an Arctic Monkeys fan definitely prepared me for this video lmao
"Trust me... I've tried." I'm dead🤣
I love this lesson! I am happy that I've found such a treasure on yt :D Cheers!
I literally love your tommy shelby accent. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love this Channel , please don't stop doing this kind of videos ♡♡♡
Completed the series, it was very difficult in 1st season but after that i fall in love with the accent,
Brilliant and pretty topical episode 👍 😃 especially for my family which is stuck on Peaky Blinders 🏴 With love from Polish Black Country - Upper Silesia ⚒️⚙️
I really enjoy your Brummie Lessons! 😀 ❤
I'm from North West England (South Lancashire) and have no problem understanding the Birmingham accent despite our accents being very different. The two most impenetrable British accents have to be Geordie (Newcastle) and Glaswegian (Glasgow). If you want an example, the British classic sitcom 'Auf Wiedersehen, Pet' has some strong Geordie accents whilst something like 90's comedy 'Rab C. Nesbitt' showcases a thick Glaswegian accent. Good luck understanding either if you're not used to them.
I once met a man from Cumbria and could not understand a word, really weird experience. Glasgow and Geordie were not too bad in comparison 😂
I can't believe that i found this Channel i'm from Brazil nd i'm really fond in this channel, it's helping me a Lot to understand the british accent ❤❤❤thank you so much. love u❤️❤❤❤❤❤❤😘😘😘
How can you beat a child with a house? Trust me, I've tried. 😂😂😂
I'm a non native English speaker and right through Birmingham Accent...😂 Nice video!
I've watched PB many times that I've learned the words by heart :)
As an american, i got about 30-90% per scene depending on who was sayin what.
ok
I've finished this show until the latest season a year ago, and tbh I still understand pretty much of these lines well.
Okey I must watch and listen this English learning of yours just to have a knowledge about uk accents...
Good thing about being Northern Irish is that we can perfectly understand Irish, Scottish and all English accents
Notice how you left Welsh out... Because even they don't know what the fuck they're on about
@@bozos373 LOL
I love the different accents of the English language. This one from Birmingham is quite challenging.
Also beautiful🎉❤
Dude, I really laughed hard with the Alfie Solomons imitation. Just like him. Please do more of these PB videos! So funny!
Different parts of Birmingham have variations in the accent…more broad near Dudley and Black Country area..milder in SW area.
Dude, you're good at what you do! Cheers from Colombia!
I am from Derbyshire and I struggled to understand it! I have friends from the Black Country and they talk so fast!! 😂😂
es excelente este Ingles...muy dificil de entender y hay que seguir aprendiendo...gracias smashing English...
You are a joy to watch and hear!
Love sitting back and just listening. Thanks!
Im from there so i understand it easy, but find it fascinating learning about it ❤️
I Bloody lUv that series gerl, always watchinit
great idea and well executed, congrats!!
I am proud to say, I understand the dialogues in The Peaky Blinders even with the captions turned off.
So do I and I live at least 20 miles from Birmingham!
You made me watch peaky blinders and i love watching Your videos 😄
“I’ve learnt a new thing Frances. There is no rest for me in this life. Perhaps the next one. “💯
I'm born and bought up one mile from Small Heath South Birmingham. Lizzie and arthur have the most genuine sounding acsents. But you travel 20 miles north to what's called the Back country. Very difficult to comprehend
Their accent reminds me little bit of Johnny Depp. You should do some breakdown of his accent too it would be intersting. Nice video keep the good work!
When she does episode relating to Birmingham, she looks extra confident.😁
☺️🇬🇧
Great job Laura
I can understand everything 😌.....cause I have watched peaky blinders many times🙄😂
omg i enjoyed this video, thank you, i learned so much😇
I suddenly fell in love with this accent
Woah that alfie impression is spot on!
Was waiting to make another vedio on peaky blinders. First one helped me a lot. Thank you sister love from Pakistan
After many years i rewatched the show with my wife in Russian (we’re bilingual) and my goodness everything made so much more sense 😂
"It's customary in Russian royal households to check for certain/such tattoos before engaging a man in business".
I didn't cheat on it, but ngl I listened at least 5 times haha
Thank you for the lesson!
Really nice video explaining the accent thing. I usually watch peaky blinders without the subtitles so I had no problem getting it
Bloody great videos! Love them Peaky f#@kin Blinders! ❤️🤓
Kevin Bridges is great to learn accents too, plenty of videos available here on RUclips
Thanks very much very interesting and different way learning brithish English thanks a lot Aberdeen
You were absolutely great in this episode.
I'm actually more invested in mr.thomas shelby the person than the plot and drama of the show content
Love this so much, could you please do it more
The teaching way is amazing ya🤣🤩
I've watched the whole show in english with english subtitles and still didn't manage to understand more than a half of your examples
Peaky blinders was filmed everywhere including Liverpool season 6 is in Manchester ..
It´s not really a challenge to understand all that. Just in very few occasions, when they speak very fast and/or quiet or in local terms I´m unfamiliar with. Watched the whole series in english instead of german, made it so much better :)
I have watched 3 session of peaky blinder but i can understand some of the things they say without subtitles.....i am imagining that if I haven't watched it with subtitles how it will be....
Guys, it’s sarcasm. Obviously Peaky Blinders isn’t a ‘little TV show’… it’s a joke… sarcasm… where you say the opposite of what is true to make a joke…
Roight well dun
Explaining sarcasm feels like your letting a secret out lol
(It's customary in russian royal house else to check for which statue before engage you .... business ) i think that what he said correct me if i'm wrong
Thanks to me I read the comment of urs , I really got shocked when u said little 😐
P
Thats a nice way to improve my englisch
Don't know why, but I love this accent
I only could hear "it's customary in Russian courtyards ..." . Because I am Russian. And also was able to hear and recognise the English pronunciation of the word "lieutenant"just at once , as my last farther had been a lieutenant of the tank troops of the USSR and I'd crammed this word as long as in the previous century !!!
It's customary in russian royal households, to check for such tattoos before engaging a man in buisness.
The Alfie dubbing was 100 accurate 🤣🤣
But why your English is so clear ❤️
Wow this makes me realize I wouldn't have understood Peaky Blinders without the subtitles!
I got it all I'm from Birmingham
I love Arthur accent 😆😆😆
İt is customary in Russian Royal households to check for...(that is all I could catch) 17.01.2022, 15:51
Something like "Its customary in Royal Russian households to check for such tatoos before engaging a man in business" is what i've concluded.
This challenge for me was a 10% more difficult because I'm Hispanic and still learning English LMAO
It's customery in russian royal household to check for switch answers before to engaged kind of business
I really like it. You're amazing🤩
Next time make sure you have ice. This pub's come to our attention for its lack of ice :D
I'm taking this lesson after finishing peaky blinders. 😂
I thought I’m not that good in listening but surprisingly i understood every thing they said!
I'm a Yam Yam. A Wulfrunite.
This just makes the local dialects (of which there are at least a dozen!) so cool ......
I had a real Black Country accent when I was younger. But having moving around, my accent has become more like RP. I now live in a place where pirates really should hail from! And they think I talk Posh! :-)
It's sad in a way. I had to lose part of my heritage and identity to be understood. ....
Mind you, I can still go full on Black Country if I wanted to ..... Its great for coded messages in speaking!
anyway, gotta go. The weather foreceast is poor. Its looking dark over Bill's mother's .....
Complimenti per il video. You’ve been amazing.
oh my gosh you are amazing😂😂😂I foooking love ya
i loved this video, im learning, im learning english and this was super fun due to my fangirl times with the peaky fockin blinders, new sub
you are amazing teacher
It could be me but I really don't see how anyone would not understand a London or Birmingham accent not if it was like a Ireland for Scottish then I see how you couldn't understand but none the less for these two accent I feel like we should be able to understand
I used to love british accent but birmingham has its own charm.
Very much good explaination
You know you watch too much Peaky Blinders when you can understand it (as a German with bad English skills).
This is what I heard in the last example:
"It's custom-ly in russian royal households to check for such statutes before you engage them on a business"
It's customary in russian royale households to check such for tattoos before engage in business
I'd say 90% :)
I'm not sure about it. But what I do sure is I Love You teacher.
Not here to learn english, understand every english accent very well tbh but if i had someone like you teaching me german i might be able to speak it now
the accent of major Campbell was like amazing, so strong!
Hahaha ...I really enjoy listening to ya 🎩
