The young German Catholic priest Joseph Mohr wrote the poem 'Stille Nacht' in 1816 after the Napoleonic Wars. A local teacher and organist, Franz Xaver Gruber, set the poem to music on Christmas Eve 1818. 'Til now, there was 137,000 known recordings of this song - but now there's at least 137,001! Here's my addition to the canon: an improvised arrangement, performed in the home office, and recorded in one take.
Úna performs a range of Irish dance music, Celtic music, and Celtic songs, with occasional explorations of folk music outside the Celtic world.
