Scríobh sagart Caitliceach óg sa nGearmáin, Joseph Mohr, an dán 'Stille Nacht' in 1816 théis na Cogaí Napoléon. Chuir múinteoir áitiúil, Franz Xaver Gruber, ceol leis an ndán ar oíche Nollag 1818. Tá níos mó ná 137,000 taifeadtaí den amhrán seo!! Agus anois tá ar a laghad 137,001 taifeadtaí, mar seo mo leagan: cóiriú tobchumtha; taifeadta san oifig baile; déanta in aon geámh amháin!
The young German Catholic priest Joseph Mohr wrote the poem 'Stille Nacht' in 1816 after the Napoleonic Wars. A local teacher and organist, Franz Xaver Gruber, set the poem to music on Christmas Eve 1818. 'Til now, there was 137,000 known recordings of this song - but now there's at least 137,001! Here's my addition to the canon: an improvised arrangement, performed in the home office, and recorded in one take.
Úna performs a range of Irish dance music, Celtic music, and Celtic songs, with occasional explorations of folk music outside the Celtic world.
