      YUP! And then they just want it gone because it’s “not valuable” like the thought it would be and then they mostly go for under retail cost! It’s crazy!

    I'm not a fan of the faces on barbie through that era, but truth be told it's her best one. Her looks are amazing but also the dedication on detail for packaging, she really looks like a queen whether on everyday outfits or movie ones. Nowadays barbie is more of a commoner than a fashion icon. That includes the Extra dolls that look more like fashion designers students than anything else.

    I used to play with my dolls like that too! It would drive my sisters crazy because I would set up the scenes and doll houses and make everything look beautiful, change their clothes and then pose them and it could take a hour or two lol! My sisters used to get so impatient with me because I was always done playing by the time I was done setting up🤣.

    I love the Barbie Basics line. At that time they were out I was collecting only Monster High but I have since kept my eyes open. I am also looking for that model muse body because its easy to spot and you know its either a Basics or a holiday doll. I have 2, 4, 8, 10, an 11. I was also lucky enough to find one of the Target girls, the one with the blonde bob although I missed out on the one with the long brown hair and the straight bangs. They are so fun to dress and I would have a hard time not taking them out of box. What I would recommend is leave them in and just keep hunting and someday you may find them OOB. I will say though that number 8 is one of those rare and delightful dolls that looks good in everything. She is a stunner. Some dolls you just have such a hard time finding the right outfit but not her. Her issue is wanting to put everything on her all at once.
    I understand the joy of the first doll in the Disney lines. When I was little I asked for Aladdin and Jasmine and she was my favorite doll. After a few years her neck broke and I cried. I still have her and was lucky enough to find a replacement but I still kept my beheaded one. lol. I also adore my first Megara. One of my grail dolls is the Midnight Masquerade but I am not sure if I will ever drop that much money on a doll. She is so lovely though. I am not into the fairy dolls or the fairy tale dolls but I love watching your excitement and interest in them. I just love seeing you ramble on. Great find!!!!

    That Sleeping Beauty Barbie actually was going to be a Barbie movie! The first one ever, if I’m not mistaken. They made a small teaser trailer but couldn’t make an actual movie as Disney tried to copyright Mattel over the name Aurora: despite the fact that’s the original name from the ballet. Definitely with you about keeping old Barbies in the box! The pictures and colour pallet is too pretty. And yes! Magic of the Rainbow Elina’s wings are fabric. They are so easy to break tho aha 🥲

    I got so giddy when you pulled out that Clara and Elina. Gosh, I remember the ads for Fairyoke as a kid, they looked like so much fun, but I can't think of a single song from those movies that you'd include with a toy like that. XD But Clara, Clara I have a story about.
    We have a similar history, my first Barbie movie dolls were from Rapunzel! I had a bunch of them, the main doll, her prince, the Kellys, heck my Lorena (the peacock themed Kelly) lost an arm at one point and I'm so mad she got thrown out when I wasn't looking. I don't have most of them anymore but I want her back specifically. Rapunzel was my jam, that and the ballet movies were my favorites after her, but the Nutcracker kind of fell by the wayside. I didn't fully appreciate it until I was in college. I had it, and I had Clara as my one doll from it growing up, had a ballet phase and got her as a gift during it. She was well played with, her hair is matted, she's missing a foot, her joints are loose, but she was loved. (I really want to repair her with a reroot and made-to-move body, but I keep debating it since I've never rerooted before, and she's so sentimental.) Well, when I got into dolls, two distinct things happened. One, my roommate brought her doll collection to our dorm and decorated her half of the room with it. Before I got my first two collection dolls, Clara was a doll I brought from home to display in the room. Reason being, I was falling into the Nutcracker fandom. There is an artist known as ShinyZango who has a really beautiful adaptation of the nutcracker story that she draws, and I fell head over heels for her work at the time, brought me back into my old love for the nutcracker ballet. And when I found a fellow voice actor dubbing her work (who is now my friend AJ at BigBlueVA), he asked me to join in as Clara. Zango loved our dubbing so much that we've been her voice actors for Hans and Clara ever since, and we met a ton of friends with their own takes on the nutcracker story and original ones. And what do we do every Christmas together? Hop on a discord call and watch Barbie in the Nutcracker (among other nutcracker films) to ring in the holiday season. The movie didn't mean as much to me before that, but now it's a comfort film and reminds me of what great friends I have.
    There was another thing: because I met these folks while I was working on my final college illustration course, I ended up with the nutcracker as the subject of two of my projects. After four years, that work has now become an original story that's in progress, and my nutcracker character, Auran Dulce, has a doll within my collection. He's currently borrowing my dad's childhood toy horse, Duke the palamino, as a mount, and I've been snuggling up with him a lot. He's a custom I made with an Invisi Billy head on an Obitsu male body, so he can have a bunch of poses in order to dance (he's a ballerino!). I've also since collected the dolls of Prince Eric and three of the Kellys (I'm missing the ones based on Captain Candy, Major Mint, and the Flower Fairy, still hunting). They all get displayed with Clara and my customs around the holidays, and I love them, so much. The pink haired fairy that's a Ginger custom I shared with you before, Delilah? She's a part of Auran's story, a bunch of my customs go to that, it's so special and important to me.
    The tldr is I get really excited whenever I see someone with a fondness for nutcracker dolls, Barbie related or otherwise. I'm so happy you got to find Clara and hope she continues to spark joy for you for a long time!

    $20 was a good deal for all of the doll. Clara was one of popular doll yet so rare in here. and i can pay at least $50-$100 for Clara.. I can get for that price. But, its on bad condition one..
    And the children's collection one have at least 9 dolls on the line with Cinderella, Rapunzel, snow white, etc. The sugarplum was from Classic ballet series (The other that you mention indeed are from the same line)

    I totally relate to seeing a doll I really like listed for super low prices everywhere and it negatively affecting how I view them. It's weird because I know my original opinion is all that matters, but still.

    • @xCanadensis
      @xCanadensis  2 года назад +1

      I prefer seeing low prices because it means I can easily snatch them up! I may not have been clear there aha. I meant that I LOATHE high priced online dolls because I know I can find them cheaper if I’m patient.
      Or is this in reference to the star wars/beanie babies crash anecdote?

    • @brimarie4196
      @brimarie4196 2 года назад

      @@xCanadensis I also loathe high doll prices lol. I more meant in the beanie baby crash way. I like to look up my random thrift store finds and when I see people struggling to give away the same thing I was happy to purchase I get weirdly self conscious that this thing I really like has no value to others. But low pricing is definitely handy when searching to find a doll.

    • @xCanadensis
      @xCanadensis  2 года назад +1

      AH YEAH! That totally makes sense. I like it because I can get them more easily and then generally once those are eaten up people want them again. It’s funny to me because those 90’s Star Wars figures are genuinely AMAZING but nobody cares because they’re bargain bin

    Oh so much fun! I love the fairytopia doll. I have one second hand. I am a barbie collector mainly but love pretty much all dolls. We have a little of everything. Thank you so much for sharing. Also thanks for the metal brush tip. It was totally a game changer for fixing hair. When I got a few 18 in dolls for my little one I was not sure how to carefor their hair. Got a few american girl and OG second hand and they cleaned up nice with the metal brush. I have been brushing doll hair since i was probably 3 and wish I had known that. I had lots of dolls with missing plugs and frizzy hair as a kid. But I did use shampoo and conditioner. Neither caused long term issues after 30 plus years just the brushing hard as a kid pulled out hair. I may have to try re rooting some childhood dolls following your videos.
