  • The first REAL big patch of Street Fighter 6 dropped with Akuma a while back, and with it came a bunch of buffs and nerfs to shake up the meta. Some characters are completely reworked and much better, like AKI, Zangief, and Ryu, while others...well, let's talk about it! Kizzie Kay and jmcrofts talk about the state of the game post-patch!

Forgive my naivety. But I think constantly updating the game with balance patches and giving characters minor changes wouldn’t be a good practice for them in the long run.
I think making it a bigger thing is good for marketing and good for getting people’s eyes back onto the gmae

I think that’s what they were going for

      That's the point he's making.
Balance was deprioritized over what would cause the most marketing.

It's really weird to see. The fact characters take so long paired with the time it took for them to release balance patches is intriguing. I thought it'd be expected due to them catering to the live service events but those don't seem to justify this.

Honestly in my opinion although it is unpopular the game was actually fairly balanced there was a few characters definitely weaker than the others and needed changes but other than that the roster was really well rounded but having a balanced game is boring there is no level of randomness or bullshit that would be hype to see in you know like a tournament if it was balanced like look at samurai shodown that game is really balanced but it’s kinda boring to watch SF6 I would say only got some problems when Ed came out because his damage is kinda high and his combo with I think his level 2 (talking about the projectile super) he gets some nasty combos

I not sure if i would agree but jm is being very vauge. The perception of different characters as they were developed shifted wildly over the year, if you don't believe me, you can go back and watch vods from various point.

Yeah, these weren't changes one had to wait to a year to make.
Remember pushing updates to consoles costs a fee.
    Thats the real driver here.

Esports is a huge factor in why they don't update as fast.

Its to force seasons. Get used to yearly balance patches again. This will lead to a more stable competitive scene

I mean they already said that they'd be releasing multiple smaller patches per year but this season is basically season 1.5 . VERY little actual changes , all the top tiers are still top tier , only aki and ryu got more buffed so we're seeing them a bit more . Aside from that the game feels EXACTLY the same .. idk man .. they didn't change the parry mechanic or the drive rush mechanic , and that was the main issue pretty much every player had in this game .

@@xkoan-yy7lg what did they change bro ? They added 8 frames of recovery on empty parry .. I'm talking about the mechanic in general , being able to block right after is bs .

    • @oOYourdadOo

@@IytrrvItruexactly. Only goofy ass people think the minor nerf to drive parry was anything. Like you said, being able to block after parry is dumb. The mechanics is ALL REWARD and almost entirely no risk. Just the simple fact that the input/activation for Drive Parry is so simple alone already makes it really strong. The threat/option of drive parry forces the aggressor to literally to give up their turn in fear that you might perfect parry their frame advantage. The advantage of drive parry means you dont have to think to block and those recovery frames just become normal on block, so an additional 8 frames recovery is bullshit. If some does drive parry they should have additional recovery frames even when parrying an attack because the plus side is that they can easily block crossups, high low mixes, and meatys. The only negative it has is when its an empty parry you can get grabbed if the opponent is sitting still waiting for you to whiff parry. If you had 1 or 4 additional frames of recovery “on parry~block” when using drive parry it would justify its ease of use and overall strengths. So NOW when i stop my offensive pressure to react to your drive parry, you still have to guess. It shouldnt be a get out of jail (literal frame jail/frame trap) free card… no lie, im cooking with this comment. 🗿

The myth that it leads to a stable scene is just that. A myth.
It leads to Capcom being able to be charged less for pushing updates.
      That's the reason, lol.
The most stable competitive scene is one where clear bad game design isn't allowed for a year because reasons.

The big balance patch felt like a mid season patch, it was good but honestly it felt small and most of the balance of the roster stayed fairly similar. Things obviously changed and there are a couple small outliers, but a lot of these felt like very obvious hitbox or damage changes that were needed like months ago

Nah just look at Jamie daigo was playing him before any buffs hit, why the need to rush it? I also played Jamie to 1500 and had no issues waiting. Capcom isn’t like these gimmick anime fighters they actually take time to ensure proper balance
