Why do people keep acting like this is the first time this has ever happened? Pokemon has gone through patterns like this forever. They make sets with easier rates to get you buying and then they increase the rates to make you rip more product. This is far from the first set to have tougher pull rates and it is far from the last. 😅

I agree. If there was a crazy chase card and it was a popular pokemon and artwork, people would take the chance. We don’t have that in this set. It’s nice to see new pokemon on top but the ancient and future aspect along with the pokemon selection will hinder this set from seeing crazy value.

You Can't keep shoving the same pokemon in every set, or you end up like Charizard, with everyone experiencing fatigue. Also you'll never get new chase pokemon if they dont get any push. IMO that morty w/ gengar is a sick card to chase.
Paradox rift pull rates hit a good balance with pull rates and rarity. One SiR or gold per box (sometimes more) seemed pretty good. The issue now is that the gold card cards have no value (or really ever) for whatever reason so the horrific pull rates on those dont make sense. Getting a gold card, even if rare, doesn't have the same punch as an SIR. But all I remember were all the complaints about SV 1 and how easy it was to get good cards. Can't please everyone. If this set was full of gen 1-3 pokemon people wouldn't mind more rare cards because they would hold value better, but it isnt, so it was a swing and a miss ok the pull rates.

12:01 I wanted to confirm a few things. I personal ripped 3 full cases and can confirm you get only 2/3 SIR per case. So you are right on n average I got 1 about ever two booster packs. I can also confirm that after 3 full cases (18BB) I am only 5 cards short of a master set. Including all reverse holos.
As somebody who's bought at least a case of SV1-4 and mastered every set through Paradox Rift (including 151) with 5 copies of every card through EX Rare, I absolutely hate this. Don't get me wrong, I adore the art and will likely master this set too, just heavily through singles. And those singles have to come from somewhere. If the rates suck and whales like me stop cracking boxes, then we won't have duplicates to trade and it grinds to a halt. Like I could barely find any Paradox Rift at my card shop to round out my set. Single supplies are going to be so dry.
I know it's first weekend, but lots of singles have dried up on tcgplayer and now we have some insane prices on some stuff. I'm wondering if shops are skipping on the ripping, or will just get to it this coming week.
I think theres in balance between collectors and people that want to open cards. People complained about how easy pull rates are and theres no value. Now pull rates are harder people complain they cant get their card. Single prices are crazy of how low they are. I think in the long run this set will be worth something and their singles will rise
Needs balance, true, the collectors, investors and players all have to harmonize to make the economy work. There would be no singles without people chasing stuff, and there would be no chasers if there's nothing to chase.

If the sets aren't desirable and investors stop opening product entirely single prices, despite them being rather common cards, will still rise. You won't have people like Derium or others cracking booster box after booster box and selling bulk and hits. You need investors and hobbyists because without one or the other the hobby will crumble. Before the strength of XY evolutions, it was likely headed that way. Do you have any idea how unpopular XY was? You need to understand what Fam club is saying because his opinion is correct. There needs to be some appeal to BOTH collectors and investors, otherwise you'll be left with no hobby at all or Pokemon will find their way to make their money off of you lol And hate to break it to you but you ain't the one bringing in the dough
Pokémon center is thinking that the product with easy pull rates is still sitting on shelves. When this product also sit on the self, at least the singles prices will have some price protection
This won’t affect prices imo, I think it will make temporal forces less desirable as the set doesn’t have great chases. If this was an evolving skies like set, then the tougher pull rates would make sense.
I agree, already seems like prices are low compared to their pull rates, and we are only 1 day in. I expect further drops, cause like you said, these are not chases for the majority.
The Arbok going up could entirely be due to that first attack. Anything that inflicts 3 statuses at a time is very valuable, especially for one energy. Is there anything in the format that multiplies the damage of poison/burned statuses every turn?
I had to rewatch this and save it to see where this set stands in 3 months. It's crazy how fast this set went up. I'm betting things will come back down to earth in 2 months.
I love the art in this set, but I think the next one has some great stuff too. We'll see once the second half leaks. Hope the pull rates are a bit easier.
Very interesting vids. A lot of dips was expected, more to come. Those SIR pull rates seem a bit off. I'm sure they use some kind of formula to com up with that 855 pack number to pull a particular SIR but if you took that as gospel, that means to pull all 10, you'd need to rip 8,550 packs. That's ridiculous. Danny got his master set in 1,800+ packs, which even he said seemed a bit high and maybe his batching wasn't all that desirable. While the high tier rarities do seem tough to pull, I feel just getting pulls in general, a nice mix of mid-tier stuff and whatnot is pretty fair. I've ripped 3 PC ETBs so far and I'm pretty content with what I've gotten so far. 1 more ETB left. Wish me luck, haha.
855 to get each specific one, which means you'll get them all in 855 packs if you hit everything perfectly. 1 every 80ish packs. Thats 24 booster boxes for a master set, again, if no duplicate sirs pulled.

I really wanted this set to be more popular but the cost of the top cards and the difficulty of the pull rates, I just don’t see the reason to open packs. Granted I will be opening more but not like 151 or paldean fates.
Bit late but this is why I mainly buy singles now, after spending hundreds to get the Charizard 151 and umbreon VMAX alt , I mainly buy cards as a collector item, not for profit, gamblers fallacy is not a good thing trust me
These cards aren't desirable enough to warrant the pull rates lol these sets are all dead in the water. At least Burning Shadows has a chase. At least Ultra Prism has a chase. These sets are trash

Every booster box opening I have watched has included at least 1 Ace Spec card. I think they are guaranteed in booster boxes.

I do recall some discussions about poison decks with this, but they seemed to be shrugged off as not good enough. It's fallen under 4 bucks now.
