I am lucky to have them too, it works both ways I feel, the biggest hurdle is convincing my clients not to take the cheapest quote and make sure that they understand exactly hat they are getting!!!
I'm a hobby woodworker with limited skills but every time I watch one of your videos I'm blown away by the way you produce such excellent results with apparently minimal effort. You do things so effortlessly and explain the process in simplistic terms, so much so that I try and emulate you. My results are often adequate but not to your exacting standard, therefore with no malice, I must say, Robin Clevitt I bloody hate you!!!!
We can have all the fancy joinery tools in the world, but there's nothing quite like cutting with a nice sharp bahco hand saw. Love watching your work.
Wow!! That's kind mate!! I'm sure there are thousands of other good carpenters that don't publish their great work, I just want to share what I have learned over the past 36 years!!!! Have a great weekend
Luckily, he is a joy to watch work because I find it hard to understand the accent and some of the terms (I'm in the US). I had the same problem with an Irish friend...haha. Keep up the great work.
Sorry, my comment was meant for the video where you fitted cupboards in your front room. I obviously took to long to write comment before this video auto played. 🤦🏼♂️
We done a job last year very similar, extension and loft conversion then the client kept adding extras like those doors. We had 14 double doors in total and 1 full height wardrobe all into the void spaces which were also fully boarded and plasterd!! Some clients have a really addiction for storage access to every inch
Robin great vid as always, I know your a master carpenter and all your work is top quality. But please show us lesser mortals that even you sometimes make a mistake! 😂👊
Please do a video on various fixings used for framing a roof (rafters, joists, etc) What to use? nails or screws? different kinds of nails and screws etc. Nailing guns and kinds of nails guns use etc. Various options for diyers. Thanks
Hi Robin, would you not have considered using a line attached to both ends and simply bring the four other uprights to the line, that way all the heads are in perfect linemen. You could do the same thing at the bottom. Just a suggestion
I've got a big space under my stairs which I've just started stripping back making up some studding and plaster boarding, but I'm not over confident in building the frame work for the pull out draws that will fit into the void, be brilliant to see something on that...chippy wanted over 2k to do.
The plasterer uses a water proof tape on the linings during plastering and we control the moisture by dehumidification in the evenings, this completely stops any excess moisture being absorbed by the lining, we always double fix main door linings etc
Great vid. I have a fire door casing to fit, what's the least complicated way to cut the head to size while maintaining the intramescent strip is aligned thanks
This is a joy to watch, Robin. Genuine question: is it realistic to expect, or even possible to find, a tradesperson that has this attention to detail and care? Given most customers won’t necessarily know what to look for, how can those of us hiring determine whether someone will take a proper level of care and pride like you do?
Spax screws ? Who won the lottery you or the client 😂 Fischer do screws with a reverse thread for fitting door linings, you can adjust them with no packers. You have probably seen them but I haven’t on this channel, you should give them a try would make for some good content
Just live in a house where there is no reason why everything should not be 100% plumb and square, but is anything but (This is a lot of houses, new and old builds) and you will soon learn why the laser level is not always the answer. Having everything beautifully level in a wonky building looks really out of place. That said I love my stabila tools.
@@MarkUKInsects. My uncles friend is a plasterer and he says the same thing. He once plastered a reveal in a new window opening, the customer was a doctor not a builder but insisted that he knew the edges should be 100% to the laser line. Customers wife came in to look and said it made the rest of the wall look weird, she made him redo it until it “looked right” 😂😂😂
Hi Tony, they are comfy, they are by buck boots, they where the only ones that my local builders merchants had that fitted me when I popped in for some new boots!! I quite like them
Robin you are so neat & tidy .
Love to hear and watch a true Craftsman
It’s always so satisfying watching Robin work. The quality and attention to detail is second to none. Your customers are very lucky to have you 👍

I know exactly what you mean. I'm a better carpenter for watching Robin's videos. Still shite, but better. 🤣

Close to 100k subs now 👏🏼👏🏼 looking forward to you getting that silver play button
Thanks mate!! It's hard work!!
Excellent tip about attaching feet on the first leveled cabinet.
Wish I new this when I did my kitchen as a DIYER.
Thanks for sharing 👍
You are so welcome!

Golden advice on workflow and how to speed up and maintain quality.

Who knew so much went into it,always a pleasure to watch Robin work.
A chippy ?
You're a treat to watch and listen to.
Thats kind mate, I appreciate your comment, thank you!!
Appreciate the time you take, every day a school day, good work flow 👍
Great to see a master at work.
Thank you kindly
I’d install plasterboard on inside too just to keep it nice and clean
I was just about to go to bed and found another Robin Clevett video, it’s going to be another late night for me. 😂😂😂
Very well explained, I have a couple of those long straight edges Very handy to have. 👌🇮🇪
This one was great robin. Almost realtime. Nice to see your pace and methodical approach. Was gonna ask about your knees but you answered that one!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You make it look too easy! Lovely work mate 👍🏻
Robin great vid as always, I know your a master carpenter and all your work is top quality. But please show us lesser mortals that even you sometimes make a mistake! 😂👊
You could even set up a laser at the top of the jamb height and measure to the floor what size styles you need based off the laser height
As he explained. he make it level to the building. It would look wrong if he used a level.

Check out my Big Build Series, loads of Roof construction there

I would double up on my fixings, wet plaster will tend to cup the timber if it's not properly fixed along its full width.

@@ukconstruction Hmmm. Timber is always on the move and you're not going to be there forever with your dehumidifier. Double fixings every time.
Hi Robin
Out of interest why did you choose softwood linings for this application when previously you have opted for pre finished MDF.

Thank you! Cheers!
Nice work 👍👍👍👍
Many many thanks
Wondering if you're going to use pre finished doors there?
these will be painted MDF
hi robin im surprised you did not use a laser level to make the job alot easier
Did you hear in the video why I did not use a laser level??
@@ukconstruction you said pencil is much thinner than a laser

Hi Robin, why don’t you fix the top of the lining?
No need to.

Some people just dont realise the hard work that goes in to jobs like this... you cant learn this kind of stuff over nite it takes years... NOW PAY UP
Do you always keep a microwave handy to warm up your lunch?
Yes I do!
To please painter screws hiding under door stop :)
Love the videos Rob...but please get some kneepads on🤣
Did you hear me talk about knee pads?? I mentioned it in this video
At 61 I have had to admit defeat and buy knee pads 😂😂😂
Whats a mil between friends
Really great explainer...loved the logical way you worked through the task. Nice job. Taught me a lot.
I'm not all that heavy at 80 kg. My knees are stuffed, as are my elbows. And I'm only 112 years old. Nah, I'm 57.
Once you bang on your skirtings and architraves you won’t be able to tell if it was a few mm in and out anyway
Be much easier to get the middle one right then go off that.
Sadly matey your knees will go it basically happens overnight and you will be the last to know
GET SOME KNEE PADS TODAY MATE SERIOUSLY
