You could see and practically hear how doto had to stop himself slamming down that swords in the fourth duel. He knew the friendship was on the line.

Thinking about it, Yugi's deck is actually brilliant for the duel in the anime. He's facing the strongest monsters in the game, so having a ton of stall to survive is the best option.
And the fact about that is that’s not even his real deck the deck he used against atem is basically the main deck split in half with some added cards.Yugi’s real deck is the one he used against bakura

I like to think that the canonical ending of the original show is just Yugi walling off Atem until the point that the Pharaoh basically just says "fuck this, send me to the spirit world already". No goodbyes, no reassuring words for his friends, and instead of a thumbs up he just flips off Yugi as he walks away into the light while muttering about how bullshit "swords of revealing light" is.

@@dice9270 I think teamsamurai made a video about the wicked gods. You could probably use that, but it may not be thematic. And the deck could probably be structured around using god slime.

I've been rewatching this video often over the last three weeks trying to manifest another master duel video into existence.
Atem just has way too many high level monsters, to the point that he needs plot armor to get the right cards

I'd say this was "poetic justice" for the Yami vs Jaden Duel, but there was nothing poetic or justified about this Duel! It just seemed broken! XD
If I remember correctly, in actual worldwide *Duel Monsters* Events/Tournaments that the _Swords of Revealing Light_ card was banned... Considering what it does, I'm not surprised! XD
Lol, I can imagine a "practice/training" Duel between Yami and Yugi at Grandpa's Card Shop with Yami getting salty about Yugi cowardly spamming _Swords of Revealing Light_ cards the whole time, saying exactly what SeeReax says! XD
By the way, can we just appreciate how much effort SeeReax puts into roleplaying the characters in all of these Duels? Makes 'em so much more enjoyable/hilarious! 👍
P.S. I'm still hoping to see you guys "reenact" some of the Duels featuring the female characters: Téa vs Mai, Yusei vs Akiza etc. :)

Some of the legacy of the duelist match ups are ridiculous, the most infamous is probably the rare hunter exodia deck. Sometimes the decks are designed just to turbo out an ace monster from the episode and sometimes you have decks like yugis and jadens that have like 3 different archetypes mushed together
All them swords of revealing light would have had me SALTY lmfao

My heart! My sweet Yugi! And guys, Yugi wasn't sealing him away. He was setting him free. It had nothing to do with him being ready to separate. It was the fact Atem had to earn his passage to the afterlife. Which is messed up if you think about it.

You guys were wondering how the pharaoh won *any* duels with his deck, but technically there is a plot-driven reason that his deck would actually work. That being, in the form of the *_Millenium Puzzle,_* actively giving him that luck boost to get whatever he needs and/or _will_ a card to the top of his deck as needed Lol
In short, any strategy that would THEORETICALLY work, simply _would_ for the Pharoah. Consistency was just no longer a factor. ┐(^～^;)┌
Indeed. You can run almost entirely situational and bricky cards as long as you draw what you want when you want it. Literally always have the out and even Tear 0 can't do shit against you.
Yet the only one that ever beat Yami Legit other than Yugi was a guy playing Guardians, the worst equip based archetype to ever live. The Pharaoh ain't never gonna live that shit down. The Guardians are so bad that the equips you use to bring them out are better, with one or two of them staying on the ban list to this day and Atem managed to lose to them of all things and he lost completely legit. He ain't never gonna live that down. It's like losing to Dark Scorpions with Rainbow Neos Turbo.
@@Zeromaru42 And yet, since whole Orichalcos arc was made up for the anime as filler, you could technically say his first and only legitimate loss was to Small Yugi at the end of the series.
We had Kaiba threaten to jump off a castle, Rebecca (also filler) get surrendered to at the last minute just cause, Joey when he was possessed (via intentional self damage), and then Small Yugi.

2: now I really wanna see the atem deck from the Jaden duel against this yugi deck
3: kite vs Mizar, Yuma vs kite( after duel carnival), shark vs Quattro (honestly duel carnival or barian onslaught work for me), and the one that's never gonna happen is Anna vs Yuma (I really like Anna and her trains to the face, though she had one proper 1v1 duel), oh and the shark vs Yuma (their final duel)
