I like to imagine that the guy with the tall hat is someone who has been trying for days to get them all to follow the choreography, but he winds up yelling at all the other dancers when they make minor mistakes or go off and sing on their own.
Knew this song because of MAD or AMV of Mononoke, Title is "Let's go Kusuriuri" which is awesome by the way. That was almost a decade ago. Then here comes Hololive Coco & Marine singing this. Never felt so good to listen to this song again lmao.
@@Zenotron Someone who practices "onmyodou", "the way of yin and yang". They were basically court wizards/sorcerers, astronomers, and diviners during the Heian period, and were supposed to do things like make predictions, protect the country from evil spirits, etc. As far as I know they don't have any particular association with the dead. They were supposed to be able to summon and bind nature spirits called "shikigami" as familiars, so if you decided to consider a shikigami a type of ghost then you could call an onmyouji a necromancer, but that feels like a stretch. It feels kind of like how the convention used to be to translate "youkai" as "demon", even though youkai have nothing to do with hell and generally aren't evil (they can be benevolent, malevolent, or anything in between, and a lot of them obey strange codes of behaviour and manners, making them closer to a japanese equivalent to something like celtic fae than "demons", although even that comparison isn't super accurate). "Necromancer" has a lot of specific and sinister connotations that don't really have anything to do with what onmyouji were about.
I'd call Onmyouji a "spiritualist", it's more their way as they deal with spirits at regular basis and sometimes either persuade or force them to pass on.
@@hypercube8735 "Exorcist" would be a better translation in the context of this song; "Esoteric Taoist Sorcerer" if you want to encapsulate your explanation in three words fairly accurately.

In times of pain, times of sorrow, a darkness forms in our hearts. And in that darkness, the demons will come in without mercy. So, even if you're in pain, don't give in, don't get discouraged, don't get depressed, don't dwell on it. A strong heart that does not give in to anything is the most powerful weapon!
An onmyouji was not a necromancer, they were a master of onmyoudou ("the way of yin and yang"), an ancient Japanese system of science and magic based on the Taoist philosophies of yin and yang and wu xing, the five classic elements (symbolized by the Taoist pentagram, not related to western paganism).
The weirdest part about this is that it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the game! This is just Background Music for one of the stages in the fighting game. But the production staff clearly had WAY TOO MUCH FUN making this.

"Necromancer" is not remotely a good translation of "onmyouji." An onmyouji is something closer to "sage sorcerer", an expert on many things supernatural. The art of onmyoudo aka "the ways of Yin and Yang" basically we are talking about daoist sorcery. Which can sometimes include arts that might be considered necromancy in a more western sense but it's not really their specially or what's iconic about them. Cool song, though!

What does it actually translate to?
