It was an injury substitution to be fair mate. Chelsea is a counter puncher I think. By going offensive , pep played right into our hands. Though, they had several chances. Both sides had chances. That goal we got was a wide open pass. Maybe we should talk about that.
I think Chelsea’s tactics were almost made to absolutely counter City’s tactics. City tried everything but they couldn’t do it.
How about subbing on two cdms after conceding a goal when you didn’t start with any? If you were to poll football fans how Chelsea would play this game they would have said “defend and hit on the break”. Selecting a team with no midfield coverage for the defenders was like asking to lose against this Chelsea team.
But there were other huge problems. Why play Foden centrally? He’s been so effective out wide. Sterling and Bernardo start? They’ve been bit players all season. Both pretty much horribly out of form.
Chelsea played fantastically but City were the worst version of themselves and I think that blame lies mostly with the manager. They have only lined up even remotely close to this once before all year. Why now? So strange.

Because pep did make an error. Pep was a fucking cdm himself the fact that he chose not to play rodri or Fernandinho in the biggest game of the year when his system is built around a cdm is inexcusable. this Chelsea side, player for player was far stronger than the one in 2012. you mentioned four elite players yes, but they were all past their best, by 2015 they were all finished at the top-level of the game, barring that the 2012 team was a real mixed bag of deadwood and inexperience,

But it's more than that. Foden central instead of wide, Bernardo and sterling start now? KDB as false 9? Gundogan as a pseudo holding midfielder?

At no point in this game did I think city would score
at the end they had a few chances but yeah other than that chelsea were solid
They had some decent chances once pep finally subbed on Fernandinho and gundo was able to get forward.
Which is why they’ll buy Halaand this summer

I'm still trying to figure out who played better city's "team B" or team A. Haters kept saying it's only their second team when we beat them twice. Their starting 11 could not get a shot on goal in 45mins after just needing one goal to tie. 🤦🏾
Reece James proving in big stages why he is Southgate's number one choice as a RB .
With all that money, they are "on the right path" LOL

Chelsea never win on ESPN, the other team is always the one that made mistakes. Kind of biased if you ask me, Chelsea won within 90mins and instead of congratulating us, they say Guardiola put up the wrong team😪
It's always the same on this channel. It is never credit to Chelsea. It's always because the other team did something bad.
Hoping for a 4 horse title race in the Prem next season. Can't wait.
Embarrassing for city, they need another £600m net. Can't even buy a CL 😂😂😂
City and psg will never win the champions league. They just buy mercenaries not actual players who gives their heart for the club.
Whys everyone questioning Pep starting sterling? He was arguably their only player that looked dangerous. Instead let's talk about how terrible mahrez was
He looked dangerous for about 12 minutes. Then he started beef with James and disappeared into the ether.
Everyone is surprised because Pep has barely relied on Sterling at all and Sterling mostly just dribbles the ball into trouble and loses possession this season. I loved Sterlings play a couple of years back but that dude is off a cliff.
But everyone looked bad today because they played a horrible system that nobody felt comfortable in. And got absolutely dominated for it. Starting Sterling is just one small facet of a complete tactical breakdown that we witnessed today.
Kante can keep KDB quiet.
It's unfair to blame Pep for his tactics. He had already lost to Chelsea twice, hence changing his tactics was justified. Chelsea's defence is very strong, hence he had to make some attacking changes.
"You don't judge a man's body of work over 1 game" - Craig Burley about Guardiola. Wish you'd be as impartial about Ole for once in your life. Taking a club from 6th to second, a cup final, and only 3 players away from having a team that may well challenge for trophies properly. Easy to forget, he's not had 200 million every summer to spend on defenders like Fraudiola.
Manure have spent £500m net over the last 5 years, City £600m, Liverpool £100m.
Guardiola neutralized himself.
Totally agree 👍👍
Kante also was struggling with injuries but he was the best player of the game love you Kante you’re the best

Was James superb or Sterling really bad? Would James struggle against an in-form Sterling?

Fun Fact: Tuchel and Pep met in a restaurant in Munich back in 2015. They discussed tactics together and even used salt-and-pepper mills from their fellow diners as players to have a more visual understanding of each other's game plans. Both wifes left the restaurant without their husbands. 😂

Man City attack has been average this year cause they lack a goalscorer so it wasn't that hard to "neutralize"
Well their goal scorer is the center mid who was forced to play cdm because pep benched rodri
Lol yet their players score more goals than Chelsea. Chelsea have no goal scorers too. Their final third his horrible. Wasting wasting and wasting chances. No Chelsea player has more than 7 goals even J5 who has 7 are all penalties
kane will come to etihad to get his great prize
says alot about the epl as a whole
I mean, KDB, Gundogan, Foden all out of position. Sterling suddenly back in the team. Bernardo Silva starts? ...
No wonder they didn't do well. Legitimately nobody was comfortable with the setup today.
Why put Foden centrally? He's had almost all of his success out wide. Save the experiments like that for not a UCL final? Lol. So weird.
Down a goal then sub on the two holding midfielders?
Chelsea were fantastic but Pep deserves a ton of criticism for his tactics today. They had one shot on target. They don't lack talent.
Pep played two defensive midfielders in the FA cup and still got beaten. He played one defensive midfielder in the League match and also lost. So he had no option but to go all out without a defensive midfielder and still lost.
Finally a comment that can see it.
He just had to tinker again before the final didn't he.
I'm sorry frank but guardiola is not beyond criticism?
KDB went missing just like Bruno
