SHARE THIS VIDEO FOR GOOD GARDEN LUCK!!! 😁🐕❤
Apparently, I have been planting garlic too early; around Halloween.
We will definitely be waiting a bit longer next time. Many thanks to You and King Tuck.❤🎶🌹🙏⭐😍💜❤️
Our local Neighborhood Market has a bag of corn husks as customers shuck their corn. Would that make a good mulch for the garlic? Would it need to be cut first?
@@Anne--Marie What a great idea! I hope James answers this!
@@Anne--Marie That is an awesome question.
Sometimes, you just blow my pea-pickin' mind. I love that you're always pushing the envelope. The other benefit of keeping that hardneck garlic in the ground - is the shorter shelf life. So rather than harvesting and letting it go bad, ergo useless, leave it - and regrow. Also - haven't done justice to Tuck. What a heart dog, garden guardian hero. I LOVE seeing him. Thanks JP.
I'm glad you changed "cotton" to "pea," these days people see the former as a racially motivated phrase
@TonesThiccandSnicc I didn't change it as "cotton pickin" has never been part of my vocabulary.
You make a good point about shorter storage on hard necks...when I get to the point where I actually plant enough garlic to last late enough in the year to go bad I may switch to James' method. Who knew I need 100 heads to last the year?? 😆
@@jeannamcgregor9967 Nice! 😄 I shoot for 50 - 60 which is still almost too much for my 2 person household.
@@ceecee-thetransplantedgardener good deal
Funny story about my garlic. Planted some last fall but nothing grew in the spring. After a bunch of heavy rain now I see garlic growing lol. At first I had no clue what it was but then I remembered I planting them last year lol
What an AWESOME idea! Thanks so much for sharing it with all of us. Give Tuck an extra hug for me.
I'm so jealous of how easy it is to dig into your soil.
It's mostly peat moss and bagged "soil". That's not native soil.
I was thinking the same thing, he has the best soil ,it would be perfect for carrots, you should see the shape of my carrots in my first year planting them
@@verawallace9055rofl probably looked like mine , my husband asked me what was wrong with my carrots lol not straight and pretty but bent and stuck together lol oh well they canned and dehydrated just fine
If it wasnt that easy to dig you couldnt grow good garlic or any root veg.
bro's mad over a raised bed 💀💀💀
Tuck is so cute, shinny healthy coat and great garden quality control worker😉
Blessings to all!
Thank you so much for this idea! Question...the ones you left in the ground, did you cut off all the top growth at some point to allow for the new growth or is that necessary? Love your channel and love Tuck!! 🐶❤
We love Tuck he is an awesome puppy, and thank you for the information 🙏👌
I did that last year for 2023 year in Sydney Australia with Egyptian Hard Neck Garlic😊
Ready to harvest November/December ❤
To anyone that needs to hear it. You are loved, you are cherished, you are cared for and most importantly. YOU ARE ENOUGH. ❤❤❤ LOVE YOU TUCKER
Thank you so much
Lol by who..? You don't know mt life why ate you saying this shit for total strangers
this is not the lazy way. it is working the smart, intelligent way! it also ensures you grow pure, healthy garlic. great garden results. thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. 🤍🕊
You are a happy person and very informative. Thank you for what you do and all those behind the scenes. Many Blessings to all who read this.
LOVE this!! I've never seen anyone else do this - thank you for the tip!
Good morning James and Tuck ❤. Interesting video
Thanks for the great tips James and Tuck!😎
The longer you grow the same garlic in progressive yrs the more acclimated it becomes, just like saving seed. Same for bunching onions. It's common sense not rocket science. Yes I've been growing plants 50+ yrs . Mulch well, fertilize properly and water well in the spring and early summer.
Thanks for the tip and info!
How important would you say the mulch is? It's my first year gardening so I'm doing a lot of research right now
That’s NOT “common” sense for someone new to gardening, even for some who have experience growing veggies. Thanks for sharing.
@@Navajosunagreed. It was common sense when it was more common to grow some of your own food. Sadly that isn’t done as much anymore. This city girl needs all the good advice she can get! My garden is getting better and I’m growing more of my own food every year. I appreciate all the instruction I get from you tube videos.
I did this on accident this year by forgetting some bulbs :). I replanted the large cloves. The small cloves that were too little to plant tasted great in chopped up in soup (greens and all!).
Thank you James and Tuck ! 😀 Hugs to you both!
It's more practical to take the same amount of time and separate them before winter. They get smaller when growing that close.
OMG JAMES YOU ROCK YOU HAVE GIVEN I SOOOO MANY KNEW AND GREAT WAYS TO GROW AND ENHANCE MY GARDEN THIS YEAR AND FOR THE SPRING ON 2024...THANK YOU EVER SOOO MUCH ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Excellent video, James and Tuck. My wife and I will have to try this hack. Peace, brother and keep them coming!
❤'s For Tuck and James❤
I grow 8 different varieties, including Music, and this is the 3rd year I've left a few bulbs of each in the ground to grow on. It works and is a good backup plan. Thanks for sharing.
❤❤❤❤❤❤ for Tuck! Never heard of growing garlic this way but could be done 😎
I am going to try this next year. I just planted my garlic from Baker Creek today. I can't wait. I didn't plant any last year and we definitely missed not having any. Love watching you and Tuck. I always learn something new.
Great to know. I’m also glad you are in my zone because it’s easier for me to relate. I unfortunately live in an area where the heat and mosquitoes are lethal during the summer. So it really messed up my gardening this past June-Aug this year. I’m going to make sure I get my garden ready for the winter and the early spring time this fall. Thanks for always giving such great advice.
❤ Tuck! ❤
You and Epic Gardening uploaded on same topic on same time wow👍 I love your video's
Good stuff! And as always ❤❤❤❤ for Tuck! 😊
Thank you James for sharing all your knowledge, your completely awesome garden and Tuck with us ! You are a great inspiration and Tuck is adorable ! ❤❤❤
Cheers for the tips, I always get my varieties mixed up once I harvest so I never remember which varieties I liked the most, I think I'll follow your lead with a single bed dedicated to garlic and leave one bulb in each section, it'll also help to see which varieties do best in my zone over a few years
❤ I love you Tuck. So glad to see you are getting a break from your collar. I'm sure it feels good. My dog (Happy) has to take breaks from her collar as well. ❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤ for Tuck and another great video!!
Thank you. Give Tuck a hug for us.❤❤❤
I did the same method last year leaving the littlest bulbs in the ground for the year harvesting 2 years later as huge bulbs. This year I’m trying to do the same thing with ginger in the greenhouse. 😊
❤❤❤ Always good to see you Tuck ❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing new ways to plant garlic.❤❤❤❤❤
❤ thanks for the tip . This year is my first for planting garlic. Love you and Tuck …thanks for all you do and teaching me more things about gardening
Much love James and tuck❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Man you’re so smart when it comes to gardening. That’s why I love your videos❤
so far this is working for me. Thank You!
WOW thank you so much for this video. I went on an unexpected vacation just before my summer garlic was ready. When I came home, the tops of most of them had come off and I couldn't find them in my overgrown garden. I was hoping this is what would happen this spring. I'm so relieved. I'm going to go out this week (after 10F temps) and move mine around like you did, but mine are already pretty big despite the ground barely being thawed.
Very useful! Thanks! And sending ❤❤❤❤❤❤ for Tuck!
I am gonna do this! Thank you for this video.
Amazing work ❤❤
Always enjoy and learn from your videos. Thanks so much. Give little boss some extra love, I love seeing him so much💗💗💗
Excellent soil! ❤ for Tuck.
Great!! Thank you for sharing this. Just in time as I harvest my garlic. Lovw your channel. Hi Tuck!!
Thank you for the info! I just planted my garlic in Northeast PA. I hope the harvest is good next year.
I ordered some organic garlic softneck that just came. Haven't put it in the ground yet because I've been tied up canning. Glad to know I have more time before I plant them! I'm in zone 6 I believe. Not the deep South. Lower VA. I've never planted garlic before so I hope it works out! Hey Tuck!! Love ya! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Plenty of time before frost. I'm in zone 6b. First time doing garlic last fall. I planted in Late Oct and Late November. Did not work out well. Too early. I'll be waiting weather forecast. Last fall was a mild one.
I'm going to try this with some left over garlic bulbs I've still got from winter.
Thanks James! Great growing tip.
This is a great idea! The only downfall I see is that I like to choose the biggest cloves for planting. It really does make a difference for next year's crop health and size. In my experience, you can't always determine the size or health of the bulbs from the tops
Love the new hoodie!!
Hearts for Tuck! ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the tip!
Sharing your garlic planting tips was very helpful. Your soil looks rich and loamy. Thank you so much for this valuable information; it's beneficial for my farm.🎉❤
My garlic is currently pushing up through the snow. Hoping by May to have a great harvest. Thanks for all the info ❤️
Great idea! I have some garlic on their third year in ground because I planted them amongst other stuff and forgot about them😂! Love seeing Tuck help in the garden! He's doing a great job! ❤❤❤
Thank you fo4 sho2ing the over winter process. I live in Canada and knowing this could help my garlic to grow better.
Oh my goodness mine did this and I was wondering if I could reuse them! I am so excited!
Excellent video! Thanks!
Good advice, Thank you for sharing your amazing ideas. Wonderful gardens! MAY God bless you always. 🤲🙏♥️👍
Wow thank you so much James! I am going to do this from now on! Planting my garlic this weekend
That is awesome. Maybe next year I will try it both ways. Love doing different things. Many thanks!
Lovely ❤❤
Love Tuck!!! ❤❤❤
That's a great tip! I'm definitely going to be doing that in the future.
Awesome video! Watching this now in March, but I feel like I followed your guidelines already last November when we planted our first ever garlic. Covering it with leaves, using fertilized soil and all that.. I really hope that we get something out of it. We've had -23 degrees Celcius (-10F) this winter and I hope that hasn't hurt the cloves. Normally we don't have that cold, but of course the weather hit extremes when we started our garden 😂😋
Also I love that you have subtitles, sometimes you speak extremely fast and it is hard to follow 😋 Don't change how you talk, no worries there, but I love that you have subtitles so even I can follow along 😋 ❤
Excellent video! Thank you so much
❤❤❤ I love Tuck!
I’m in zone 9, so waiting a bit to plant my garlic from botanical interests.
Just got my sow with the flow hoodie today. So soft and cozy ❤️❤️❤️
Plus ❤️❤️❤️for Tuck
You are so awesome, I have learned so much from you lately!!! 😊❤!!!
Looks beautiful
Nice video, thanks for sharing ❤️❤❤❤❤
As a bit of an experiment, last fall I bought 3 garlic bulbs at my local grocery store. I broke two of them up into individual cloves, and planted them. Covered the bed with a layer of compost and a layer of wood chips, and just eft them to their own. Four months and a couple good snowstorms later, I've got about 40 garlic plants coming up.
Maybe I'll pick up some good seed garlic this year, but for now I'm just tickled to be getting some decent results for my efforts. And yes, I live in a northern area, so the softneck garlic from the store was perfect at this stage.
Thank you for making this video. I tried growing garlic but I didn't get any the next year...I think I waited too long to pull it.
Love seeing Tuck too. He's so cute. ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome info! My four year old loves your videos, especially when you harvest zucchino rampicante!
Good job, thanks for sharing idea.
James, you are a genius!! I’m getting ready to plant garlic in zone 7a….I’m going to do as you say!!! Give sweet Tuck a hug for me! I’ve always wanted a Yorkie…..right now I have a Chihuahua and she’s 14 and having seizures. Her days are numbered but I adore her! Give lovin’s to Tuck for me! I can’t wait to plant garlic!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!
I actually did this with all of my garlic this year because we had some pretty bad drought and none were very big! Good to know they'll be ok and I can just transplant them!
Thanks James, just planted mine yesterday always from store bought locally grown sold by the pound for $3.99 at shoprite. Works well for me, nj zone 7❤Hi Tucky😊
Love it, thanks. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Awesome!
Incredible. I love this method and will be trying this myself. I just ordered bulbils as well and am going to give those a shot both indoor and outdoor over the next couple of years. I am going to have a ton of fun little experiments going on!
Hey there! I have 2 quick questions, but first I wanted to share that I love your videos! I've been watching them for over a year now. I love they way you convey the information you are providing to your viewers. You deliver it in a way that is straight forward and avoids confusion for the viewer. Some channels that do similar content seem to leave holes in the information they are providing, which leaves the viewers with more questions. So thank you for being thorough! Also, Tuck is so adorable, and I love that he makes appearances in all of your videos! Such a cutie! My first question is, when planting cloves in the fall for a harvest the following late spring or early summer, is it necessary to water them throughout the winter at all (and if so, how often),, or do you not water them? If you have shared this info, somehow I missed it, and I'm sure that if I want to have it succeed, I need to do this the right way. My second question is, can the fall planting of cloves be achieved in a raised bed or will that cause them to get and stay too cold during the winter, and kill them? Thank you!
I'm south of you in zone 7a just outside of DC. I'm trying your new method this year. Looks so easy. Thanks! (Hi Tuck, cutie pie.)
Great video! We are about to plant garlic for the first time, on our homestead.
Thank you for sharing. I am excited to try to grow Garlic Onions, and some Peppers (all varieties).
❤❤❤❤Great job little bossTUCK❤❤❤❤
That was interesting. I will be trying this tip now. Let's see how it turns out later. 😊
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰😍for Tucky the young king!
Thanks for the hack
will use this tip
Thank you!
❤❤❤❤. Tuck !!!!
I do have the value from your video. Thanks friend❤
I love planting garlic.
Yeah Garlic! Go Tuck! 🥰
Brilliant
Very informative video, i want to plant some garlic doon!
James can you please explain what month of the season you are talking about in your videos for people in other parts of the world. if you say late November early December, I've then got to go and find out which part of which season it is in jersey to work out when that time of the year it will be in Australia, thanks mate, I really appreciate and love your videos, I'm always telling my friends and family what you and Tuck are up to ❤
