''You are an adult''... That hurts. I want to be, so bad, but i don't know how to be one. I feel like i have a late-brain. Always 30 miles late from everyone, lost in my imagination to cope with reality. I have faith in human kind, but sometimes it's so freaking hard. And what about loneliness. Teal, when you said that we feel more alone when we are surrounded by people, that is so true. Thanks for everything, and more. x

I somewhat feel like that too, maybe its a good thing to be the last to speal sometimes, it may be a blessing in disguise.
People call me a man because of the way I look amd while I agree that I'm a young man.
There's a lot for me to learn and do. Im 20 but I still feel like a child because I live with my Mom. I get it on the outside looking in someone could say, that's normal.
But for me its not a place I want to stay in.
On one end I feel like a child but on the other I want to be on my own building a great future.

@@OPTIMUMELITE stay at home, work. Save most of your money, go out into the world with a big chunk of change to put down on your own place. Screw what people think about millennials living at home. I know a guy who is 35 that moved back home at 30. He now has three rental properties and is rolling in the money. He will be able to retire at 50. Don't listen to people, they seem to steer us wrong all of the time. The older gen do not get it, they think college is still easily affordable and that owning a home is simple and that all jobs pay close to six figures a year. I should have stayed at home longer and saved my money. My parents are sweet people and they would have loved to have me and I didn't mind living with them. If you have parents to help you and they don't mind having you at home, use the opportunity to save. Many people don't have that luxury.

I used to feel this way too. I’m 29 years old now. It wasn’t until a few years ago I started looking into sacred/divine femininity. After being fed up with feeling like a child/being perceived by one by my family I decided to figure out what it actually meant to be an adult woman. I discovered that in our modern society we no longer have “coming of age” signals/rituals like there used to be in the past, which makes it difficult to understand WHEN you have actually made that transition into adulthood. If you’re interested, look up Jonita D’Souza on RUclips, I discovered her through this search and she has changed my life. Also, a quote I heard by Joan Didion struck me during this time too: “character-the willingness to accept responsibility for one’s own life, is the source from which self-respect springs.” Being an adult is about taking responsibility of your own life, and not letting others dictate your choices for you, with responsibility comes a sense of personal empowerment. I hope my story and findings can help in some way, I hope you discover what you’re looking for

I am from the 1995, and I feel that our generation has been built to perform for society like machines, instead of really getting to know ourselves ... We don't really know how to truly love other people, we bully introverted people at school. We don't really know what is depth of love, emotions etc...

I'm not going to tell you how to feel. But it's interesting hearing your perspective. Add almost 2 decades, and you'll have my age. How you're talking is how the Baby Boomers talk and started to shift. They saw their parents and themselves tap into the grind and work like machines. And they were the generation who started the personal growth movement and the more obsessive self-reflection. In my opinion, it's swung to the unhealthy side and the boomer needs are coming out of the mouths of their children's/grandchildren. It's not actually their children's needs.
The younger generations seem to know to think of the group, globally... but they also seem very stuck in that self-obsessed, trying to find themselves cycle. When to achieve their goal of love, they should be having children... family is where the depth of love is especially learned, and being around people instead of isolated. I think that's why some of the younger generations' ideas around social justice don't stick... as they don't walk the talk... they talk about group change, while being individualistic. I have to think of my own generation though... when we were young, they also thought we were lazy or more that we didn't care. They called us the "whatever" generation. I don't really see Gen-Xers, that that panned out. We just don't get focused on very much these days. We're the in-betweeners.

Depending on their age, they might have expected the education system to do that. My dad was Silent Generation and he graduated high school at the end of the Korean War. His grasp of curricula was out-of-date before I was even born and when I tried to tell him otherwise, he dismissed it because I was a kid and what did I know? I never even got an apology when he learned that he was wrong.

Boomers are renowned for not taking responsibility for anything, while expecting everyone to be responsible. They have no concept of what it’s like to come into adult life the way Gen-X, millennials, and subsequent generations are. They don’t want to recognize the blessing of the unearned inheritance from the previous generations they received, how little they actually had to work to get what they have today, how much they did not pass that inheritance onto the next generations, and how poorly they prepared their offspring for the mess they created.
And then when you question their way of doing things and decide to do things differently, boomers criticize and get personally offended. As a generation, they have extraordinary fragile ego structures while simultaneously loving to criticize others as being weak, entitled, and lazy.
Honestly, I think what you’re describing is projection and gaslighting based in anxiety and insecurity. Due to their general state of entitlement and emotional immaturity, many boomers don’t seem to know how to connect in intimacy and empathy. I think they know how ignorant they are and how much they’ve let future generations down, so take out their insecurities on their externalized egos, their kids. Many boomers had kids for egoic reasons. To make mini-mes that affirm “I’m awesome.” When we actually reflect the truth about their “awesome” parenting, they resent us for not being what their egos need us to be...

    • @marcizaguirre
      @marcizaguirre 4 года назад +9

@Lynn T , I don't know which generation you identify with, but regardless of W,X,Y .. you are speaking the only truth. Resilience is something that cannot be tought through lectures or maturing, but something to be learn through practice and experience. In the end, we cannot control how others treat and percieve us, we can only work and control our actions and thoughts. I wish all parents and educators would get on board with this!!

    • @purpleflows5680
      @purpleflows5680 4 года назад +34

Lynn T sorry but no. You are completely discounting factors (systemic factors) that were created by boomers for short term satisfaction that are currently destroying opportunities for generations that follow you.
Boomer parents did not “give too much.” They did not give things like emotional intelligence, financial literacy, and other skills that are essential during our time. “Skills” learned in schools are not enough. Boomer parents expected a system (the educational system) to do the job of raising their kids and these are the results.
You could thrive off of skills learned in home economic and 4-H. That is not enough for our generation. Millennials work extremely hard. How many side hustles did you have in your 20s and 30s just to make ends meet? How much school debt were you in when you graduated college? Did you have to choose between starting a family and paying down school debt? Were you scared to buy a house because you graduated into a recession with debt your parents told you would guarantee you a job to pay it down and a housing bubble (created by boomers and gen x btws) bursting?
Boomer parents did not prepare their kids and now want to pass the blame. Millennials have been fighting tooth and nail our entire adult lives. I don’t know a single lazy, entitled millennial but I know plenty of boomers who found a way to thrive despite never having a budget, side hustle, and just a bachelors degree. This is not because your generation worked hard and millennials are not working hard. It is because you inherited one of the best economies in history. These are historical FACTS.
Stop with the meritocracy bs. It has officially gotten old.

I've been thinking the same. So many people I know (also from other generations) have so much amazing creative potential, but because the system of education and jobs has squashed that creativity it turns into anger and depression instead and makes people bitter. It's so sad to see as it is such a wasted potential. I still believe every one of those people is able to break free and unleash their creativity, but that's why we need a new world system that would allow this to happen, where those same people won't have their life depending on boring jobs that suck the life out of them.

We really risked everything to be out here, financially there was allot of job juggling with the relocating and all of our years of savings gone in the matter of 6-12 months, were broke now and it was really a struggle getting here, struggle in the since that we were paying twice what we pay on our new home in rent and our rental property didnt have working plumbing or adequate electric in the home, and we were going to have to pay even more to stay in the city and rent a different place so we stayed in this destitute home while we planned our homestead.
Finally being here has given me us so so much, I'm 30 years old and for the first time in my life I am able to have introspective thoughts that are deeper than I have ever had before in my life and finally understand why and who I am at these different points in my life.. Enlightening in a way I didn't know was possible. I wouldn't say I am happy now, but I really know who I am, and I don't owe anybody anything, and the relationships I have are incredibly honest.. Even if I see a monster in the mirror, I dont hate it and I will work with myself to become what I want to be instead of what those around me wanted me to be. I think just learning to deal with all these deeper understandings of self and relationships are my primary concern for me to grow as a person at this point and time, something I would have never even contemplated a few years ago.. Not that I've never been able to contemplate and philosophize but that I never had control over my life and was a victim many times over and was always the problem and never the solution no matter how hard I tried and no matter how hard I worked. It was killing me and I couldn't see past all the different ways others would view me man it wasn't good, and I was just going from one dead end job to another. It was not how I wanted to exist. To say I am thankful to be free from all that is an understatement and I have grown and become so much more despite what might have come before.
I started my own buisness, Good Weed LLC and we will have product going to market as soon as next spring. Can't aim too high kid. God bless and good luck.

GenZ is definitely trying to leave a mark. Don’t wait for the youth to become adults in order to consider them valid. Crash the formality and usual trajectory. Remember yourself in them.
I’m also GenZ and I went to Iowa to canvas for UBI, Democracy reform, community living, and to lowering the voting age to 16.
Someone sent me to iowa from dallas when I was homeless and sleeping in restrooms. I met tribe there.
    Just turned 23. I’m like the elder GenZ born on April 27 1997. I don’t remember 9/11
So I say this to remind millennials that they have access to the youth and the support of the youth. If millennials and genz can create a positive feedback loop we will not just save ourselves from our own hell, but the older generations from theirs too. 💗💜
Notice how most modern institutions need the very problem they are trying to solve in order to maintain their prestige.
It’s possible to successfully starve dysfunction.
Imagine a mall thats turned into a community living center with a Nékter juice bar in the middle 😋🥰

OK so I did my meditation, first I imagine not going to work anymore. This means I stay home and I get to sleep as much as I want, this pressure came into my energy that if I’m gonna be home I should be doing yardwork. I also decided to let the yard go. I felt the pressure of my kids needing stuff so I move them back in with their dad, I imagined my boyfriend would probably get sick of me sleeping all the time not doing anything around the house, so I got rid of him. Now I imagine myself on the beaches of Hawaii I can see that there are tons of people that want to live like this too. I then went to a place where us beach people watch each other stuff, When I leave they watch my stuff when they leave I watch theirs. I then seen that as these beach people we decided to take care of the land we were living on and keep it clean. I then seen us getting a carWe share the car and help each other out, I get the feeling of community tribal . I don’t know if this is where you meant for the meditation to go, but it all felt natural

Thank you for this video, it gave me a lot to think about and just at the right time. I am one of those millennials that have felt the hamster wheel and enslavement feelings from the system and decided "what's the point?" About four years ago, after finishing my university degree and all of life's "checklist" that we are supposed to uphold (on top of personal changes as well), I decided to quit my job, turn in the keys to my apartment and take a one way ticket to Asia. While being out of the system I started to have a bird's view on it and the meaningless and trap of it all. I met many older people who kept encouraging me to keep on traveling and live in the now since you never know what will be in the future (health wise, money wise, family wise, etc). I could see how my friends and family who are living the typical life we are supposed to live, feel so tired, disconnected, and used. I felt such excitement and beauty in my day to day life, constant growth, time to do what I really want to, no commitments, no responsibility, freedom. I would jump from country to country and see the different systems and lifestyles long enough to appreciate them but with the calmness of knowing that I can leave any minute I choose and that I am not stuck there. I showed myself that it is even possible to make this lifestyle sustainable- I met many "digital nomads", found out about working holiday visas, work in exchange for food and stay, met bloggers, international English teachers and more. I started without intension to revolt, but with time started to see that I actually could continue living out of the system like this. Four years in and I am still not bored, I don't feel a dead end yet. I still have the will and energy to keep on going and no real want to go back to the "real world". I have though started to met people who started to show me suddenly a different perspective- the idea like in this video, that just giving up on the system isn't necessarily the answer and in a way, might be a form of running which might eventually lead to a dead end, lost time and regret. These people are showing me how important it is to be balanced in an unbalanced system. Find the way to be part of the system but not be abused by it. To find a job/career where I intrinsically feel drawn to and have meaning. To find something that the work/study itself fulfills me so it doesn't feel painful to have to spend hours doing it. To learn to put limits to the work so I can have a better work life balance. To understand how much deeper you can go and give when you commit to something. We have been having many long conversations on this subject and I now feel I can understand both ideas. The cynical part of me doesn't even think that balance is possible and I get scared to even think of trying it at times. But the truth is that there might be truth in the idea that constant movement, no commitment, no roots isn't the most healthy way to live or input to society either. In this video, I was unsure how you feel about the digital nomad lifestyle (working online while traveling). Would that count in your opinion as the senario you put in the mediation of just giving up with eventually will be a dead end (going to live on a beach with a coconut)? Or, would you see this as a sustainable way to fight the current hamster wheel enslavement system with a replacement system that is more kind to yourself and takes the control more into your own hands?

I like what Teal said about kindness. I guess that's the world I want to create. I'll work with the system where it won't hurt me. And I won't play zero-sum games. But you can bet that I'll play to lose-lose if I can't play to a win-win. (Edit: I recognize that this sounds rather aggressive. It's not how I want things to be, but how I've had to act to survive. I see the same as they do, but I am not in there Generation, I feel the same as they do, but I have chosen to work on my self. the point of the Millennial is to turn inward to heal. all they see is outword hate and they make that there reality. Inward can only be done by them, but we can show with our deeds and our love. They are a fractal of our self. They will get the love we see in them, and we will see them shine bright.

If the law of attraction States, that by focusing on something we attract it, and that if we want something to fade away we shouldn't respond with resistance, how is that different to not looking away (in cases of human rights violations) when we're being faced with injustice, that just DOES exist.
Does this mean, that we can't be raising awareness for said topics?
    OR
How can we get rid of injustistes of that kind in the most efficient way?

I think this needs balance between "healthy boundaries" , acceptance and leting things go.
It's easy to deal with attraction of bad people and bad circumstances if you have at last enough money and some "safe space" (your own house or flat).
Without these two things it could be even life-threatening.

I feel this is strategically bad. I mean, why would you go in the direction of a goal you certainly know you won't achieve? I need there to be at least a possibility of success for that 'intention' as you describe it to really push me forward.
I understand when you say that the process is more important than the goal, i.e. the end doesn't justify the means. I still think though that there needs to be a goal that is achievable at least in theory.

I don't think I would be considered a millennial because I was born in 79, but all the points you touch on I can relate to the energy. I was once very giving, but I was taken advantage of and now I am very guarded on what I am willing to give. My dilemma now is that I am being asked to give up a kidney to save my older brother's life. I am not having an easy time with this decision. I feel that everyone around me feel very entitled to my "giving" than giving me, and anything that I get from them I have to give double as compensation, now I literally have to give up my a part of my body. I can see how I match this vibe, but the guilt of not doing it would weigh on me more heavily. Lose lose for me. What's being kind without self sacrifice look like? I haven't the slightest idea of it. Everyone around me honors self sacrifice so much and they believe that is a demonstration of love. 😒

It sounds like your answer is clear: you do NOT want to give up your kidney. The conflict within you is: how do you release the guilt embedded in your conditioned self (and reinforced by your environment) and make peace with your decision? You may need to divest from the folks in your environment.

I guess you have to just live accepting that no matter how hard you try you might never get what you want... and be ok with it while you keep trying...

Some younger generations think, that the idea of we being Gods and co creators of our reality, is vague. I feel sad for them. I am a millennial myself, seeing someone younger than me thinking that there is no universe that created us and that we're all one, I feel sad for them. Maybe, as you said Teal, they are unaware at their stages of life right now. Hope they'll realize sooner than later.

As an individual yes I'm messed up . But i realized it now and I'm awake now to not blame my parents and take incharge of what change i need. Been a spectators for almost two years. Seen people around me addicted to social media , chose not to go that way . Strictly no Netflix. Started meditation only to realize that i need to parent myself, unlearn everything to get out of patterns. Spiritually speaking the end it's just death, there's no "I, me , mine". Now it's a clear canvas . Socially, my life's awkward as it must be . Well there are friends who carry on well with life(financially) working on software firms, but I don't resonate with their values and ideology. I don't enter the deep conversation zone with them to avoid being the rebel. I lost my dad last year so it kind of hit me hard, to think if this is the end what I'm gonna invest my time in. I gotta take the leap now but what I'm gonna do must matter that serves the need and splash reality into people face before it's too late.
Idk if this comment matters half of the time I end up deleting it.

I find that not only do things not pay off, but when they do, for me, they are not worth it. These material things that I thought I wanted are not fulfilling. I see the dissatisfaction of that in the generation before me. Almost like they are frustrated as well. They look back on their own lives and realize they were duped. Many do not want to come to terms with this. They continue to push it on the next generation because they know of nothing else. We are all experiencing this together. Which is so powerful!!! We are the first generation with such freedom of information!! We, the people, are taking our power back.

cant believe Teal some people think this is nonsense? it could have been me saying all this and I can see the absolute truth beyond all this. I always knew I was here to change the system tho, so Now living in the most freak lifestyle possible, everything ive done has been totally weird compared to society standards but it has worked fine for me. And i ALWAYS work independently. i could not see myself working for someone.

Questions: 1. Can you do a video on social anxiety 2. Can you do a video on being obsessive compulsive about productivity and how one spends their time

We are abundant from within, society has taught us to externalize our power. Businesses advertise to trick you into getting in a state of lack to purchase their products. When you have a purpose, your tribe gravitates towards YOU. Anything you want is the mindset of lack . Find value in being alone, at peace and in your purpose. Other people are an extension of the happiness that exist within yourself, but will not give you happiness. Tap into the abundant from within.
