If you haven't tried a CVT from Honda you need to before "hating" on it. It feels pretty good. I tried Nissans and holy hell it sucks. Honda knows how to use it correctly.
Honda cvts are basically almost tranditional automatics. Therefore Hondas cvt are little better than the others in the market. I totally agree. Go drive a Honda and you might like it.
I’ve never been interested in cars until today because I need to buy one and I e watched a dozen videos and she makes the reviews bearable to watch. Love the energy and info
I am surprised there was nothing mentioned about the collision braking, lane departure, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise that are on the Touring which is new for this year.
I remember working valet and dealership and when I mentioned CVT they were like what the hell is that? In other words most people getting in these things won't know the differences or even care.
I disagree. New reviewers voice is high pitched and occasionally grating and difficult to listen to. She doesn't present as a credible "car person." Perhaps TFL is appealing to the mid-30-50 female soccer mom target demographic by using her, but I don't think it was the best possible decision in this case.
ALTN8NRG I test drove one a month ago and agree about the handling, it is nice. It is also much quieter in the cabin than my 2011 CR-V. The rear styling is not the greatest, (kinda like the Ferrari Cali), but there again, you can't really see it when you're driving... We will be trading up very soon.
2:00 She states her MPG during testing was only 22.5, which is considerably lower than the EPA rating. 5:36 She says she spent most of her time in Sport mode. Of course your mileage is going to be less than expected; you're driving in a less fuel efficient mode. As for the dual screens, most other companies put the "second screen" behind the steering wheel. It's not really part of the infotainment system; it's more for information like fuel economy, time, etc.
I understand that you ALWAYS complain about the CVT transmissions. But, for the everyday driver the're a great choice, not everyone needs the sporty feel of tradional transmission, and most of the people would prefer to sacrifice some of it for an extra fuel efficency.
I prefer the Mazda CX-5 but the CR-V is Motor Trends SUV of the year, Car and Drivers 2nd top ranked compact SUV, top selling in its class, she gave it a buy it, what else do you need to know go buy it!
I like the ford escape and Subaru forester better. The ford is more powerful and luxurious and the forester is more rugged and has a better AWD system.
Great video, as all Emme's videos!! Thank you!! I have a CR-V 2000, so sad the new is not as off road capable as the first generation, but it is still a good car.
Respectfully, this review fails to even mention new Honda Sensing system, which includes Active Lane Keeping Assist, as well as the Active Collision Mitigation Braking System. These are firsts for the Honda Brand in the USA, and the first non-luxury brand to offer these sub-$34,000. Seems like a pretty serious oversight for TFL, which has been my favorite car review channel for 3+ years. Their Touring Model tester had all of these systems which should have been tested and demonstrated. Clearly they would have a huge impact on decision to buy. Please, TFL- keep up the great work you have always done on your thorough reviews. Also, on a completely unrelated note.. What happened to Roman and Nathan?
2:12 (off-road?) I drive my 2006 Toyota Corolla off-road, and it has only 6" of ground clearance. I go over hills where one of my rear wheels is way up in the air, totally off the ground, but that's okay, the weight of the engine out in front keeps the drive wheels down on the ground and that's what keeps the traction going. I don't have any problems off-roading a Corolla when going diagonally up and over hills as long as I get a good run at it so that the momentum is high enough to coast up and over the crest of the hill (while one of the rear wheels is in the air). When going up straight, and all wheels are on the ground, I can just crawl up and over, no problems, no momentum needed.
I liked the CRV before they came up with this grill a few generations back. They need to change the face. When I first saw it I said to myself " Really that look worked so well for Kaiser Fraiser?"
I gotta say honda is on a serious design slump lately. That grill looks like it belongs on another car and they just glued it on because they needed the H in the front.
The CRV is a nice vehicle but it's a little too pedestrian for me. And I realize this is subjective but those wheels are horrible. They're way too busy and out of place on a car like this. It's like seeing someone with a 1989 Tahoe on 24" BBS gold wheels. It's clownish.
Does the adaptive cruise control feature work from 0 mph to 120 mph? Any limitations? Does it brake completely automatically and start driving automatically after braking completely? does it have the “Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function”?
I'm stuck between either getting the CRV or Rav4. I have a little girl and I want something that is roomy, safe, reliable and good on gas. Which is better out of the two? Should I wait until the HRV is released and see how good that one is?
why? because that's what Roman and Nathan do with cute-utes, even their latest 2015 Subie Outback test, they took to their new off road course, where 99% of owners would never dream of taking their Outback.
Thumbs up but some suggestion: when recommending other cars, do consider about total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) for 5 yr. To be specific, don't recommend any Jeep since it has high rate of failure, even for simple things like audio. If you check Australia Jeep, you can it is the top #1 complain car (due to failure). Certainly if you assumption is we change car yearly, and never get to 5 yr, but be realistic on the average buyer/owner
No AWD lock mode puts the AWD CRV to a handicap disadvantageous score. In order for the rear wheels to be driven the fronts must slip, and even a slight slip can be enough to turn into a big one. If all four wheels were driven properly then the fronts may not have slipped in the first place. Thus a manual AWD lock mode is essential and Honda should offer this immediately as a firmware upgrade to its AWD CRV 4th gen models from 2013 2014 and 2015. This can be easily be added on the current VSA on/off button (when off is selected the AWD lock mode would be activated up to 40km/hr, then VSA on will turn on).
I like this hair do better than the last one. Almost every reviewer knock on the doors and dash nowadays, so I don't know why all cars don't have soft touch materials there. It connotes quality so the perception is immediately changed.
I agree that Honda should have offered engine upgrade options like the smaller Kia Sportage. It's not that far fetched since the 3.5L V6 powers it's cousin, the Acura RDX, but I guess Honda/Acura wanted to milk another $10000. Another option would be the 205 hp 2.5L 4 cyl engine in the Civic Si, retuned for more low end torque. As for the right side mirror "Lane-Watch" camera, it does take some getting use to, but I found it handy in avoiding run-ins with bicyclists speeding on the right side.
hi, love your channel, can you make more videos about cross continental cars in the mash up, for example like bmw m235 vs 370z, or mustang gt vs bmw m3
It seems like Honda is fully aware of all of the issues she brought up with the car, because they have fixed them all in the Acura RDX. It's pretty much the same car, but with a slushbox auto instead of a CVT. The last generation had a turbo, and the new one has a V-6. I guess if you really like this car, but don't like those issues, either spend the extra money for a new RDX or get a used one for about the same price.
joegolden481 I thought that too but I'm sure Honda isn't dumb enough to let it rev that high at 80.. 80 is basically normal cruising speed for a lot of Americans especially in New Jersey or Texas or something. lol My friend has a CVT Nissan Sentra that sits at basically idle at 80 to 90 mph. Maybe it goes into some sort of overdrive at a certain speed?
Yet again a Japanese company provides what the public want. It has room for two adults, 2 or 3 kids and a load of junk. The parent doesn't have to bend down to strap in the kids nor to load the shopping, and the transmission is seamless. It ticks all the boxes.
Amme, you forgot to mention that after 1 year from the launch of the Subaru forester, surprise surprise Honda makes the CRV more and more like a forester, even copying the wheel black accent design, I compared both cars back to back and I can tell you that the forester drives better and sportier, including the CVT, it feel more connected, the suspensions feel solid over bumps, off road on deep sand there is only one winner: Forester. space inside was close but at the back of the driver forester is even bigger. I am not bashing the CRV it is a great car always been, I even own the MRV/Pilot amazing reliability. just wish my forester had a turbo :).
if you still dont understand what a cvt is... look at mopeds/scooters... just a beef up version of it... they are the cheapest to make... no steal gears... no nothing...
Don't want a CVT? Sure, go buy something worse or something better, at an extra price. I wouldn't mind buying a Corvette, Ferrari, or even a Lamborghini over a CVT. But hey, money.
I think so, I'm sure you could ask dealer to swap them out, we do it at the mazda dealership for the 6 and 3 because to Many complaints on a stiff ride so if they ask we do.
it is stupid to have larger tires then you need, looks nice when they come with, wait until you go replace the tires, extra money for bigger tires. 7 seat Rogue has no spare, comes with run flat tires, $100 extra per tire ouch and not all brands have run flat
Not a very exciting design, but based on their sales I would say they have it honed down to just what many buyers are looking for. I do find it a bit ironic that the Honda has essentially become the soft luxo-liner of the segment while the Ford has become more of a sports car.
Sorry Emm ... I can't holla for the mail slot sunroof... I am looking for larger sunroof like the forester or panoramic like the Sante Fe. ..............I have really got to find a new brand... Honda/Acura lost its edge about 10 to 15 years ago!!
Honda lost it's edge 10 years ago with technology. There engines always ran forever but there just starting to get back on track with the tech. Give it a couple years and they'll be back with the competition.
cvt's actually are the best. VERY LOW MAINTENANCE and HIGH RELIABILITY. Compared to the dam Autos where the gear brakes. had to rebuild my 5AT in my accord. Also, a CVT is liking have 1 MILLION gears. So the mileage is amazing. Its the best invention. Good job Honda. Love my new CRV.
The more reviews I see with actual average mpg of 22 makes me want it way less. Honda really needs to work on the infotainment or just stop offering it. More soft-touch materials and additional chrome doesn't seem like upgrades to me.
Honda has acknowledged there is a problem with the 2015 Honda CRV in their youtube video. I just talked to a Honda Case worker and she stated Honda is addressing the problem but has no resolution at this time and doesn't know at what point they are t resolving the problem. To pay $30,000+ for a beautiful Honda CRV that vibrates/shakes and Honda not having come up with a solution is taking a gamble on buying this vehicle. Would Honda executives expect their wife to drive a 2015 Honda CRV that shakes/vibrates and just tell them it's the characteristic of the car and not a safety issue. Is this the new Honda standard?? Shame on Honda. If you have a 2015 Honda CRV that shakes/vibrates please indicate the location it was manufactured. Example: Ontario, Canada/ Mexico/ Ohio... Also, please indicate how Honda has responded to the vibration/shaking issue. Thank you.
Lots comments and interests already, many loves and hates on the CRV styling, I believe it has a long lasting looking than the Rav4 or the CX5 that has the aggressive looking grille. The problem with CVT is the reliability, it is very scary for owners, it could be problematic down the road even with Honda, go search "Nissan CVT Problems" on RUclips, It should be scared the heck of anyone who owns a CVT vehicle. I am current debating if I want to buy the CRV or go buy Rav4 or Cx5 that I do not like the styling but they have regular tranny. The CRV CVT and Forester CVT have more mid range accelerations than Rogue. Apparently CVT Accords do have vibration complaints. Also Hondas do not have active left side Blind Spot Detection, they come with a wide angle mirror with a vertical line that is very annoying, do not see anyone else complains or cares about about it, it simply makes your eyes fuzzy, They should get rid of it with an active sonar detection. They claim CVT improves MPG but in Canada the sticker indicates less MPG for city driving than last years 5SPD. The reason they want to give you CVT is cost saving to manufacture than real fuel saving and reliability and it is probably high maintenance. You will never get the MPG that any car manufacture claims just like tire tread life warranty

My god, where did she get that jacket and those horrible boots? I can only believe her tailor has a good sense of humor. I just purchased this vehicle and have been pleased with it's overall performance thus far, but I sincerely hope no one else sees this video as I will be viewed as a true nerd. I don't want to be associated with this imagine. This woman needs a make-up real soon. A man suit would be a good start.
I love how this car looks. I think the front looks really good.
If you haven't tried a CVT from Honda you need to before "hating" on it. It feels pretty good. I tried Nissans and holy hell it sucks. Honda knows how to use it correctly.
Agreed. I had a 2012 CR-Z with a CVT auto trans and it worked brilliantly.
I drove the new Fit, it was just awesome .
Honda cvts are basically almost tranditional automatics. Therefore Hondas cvt are little better than the others in the market. I totally agree. Go drive a Honda and you might like it.
i agree, i test drove the new fit cvt and it was amazing, i even like it more than the ford powershift transmission on the fiesta
I can concur, that nissan cvts are not that great.
Agreed! See my later comment. A huge oversight.
Thanks for reviewing the cargo area, which is one of the main reasons you buy one of these vehicles. Yay for Emme, great addition to TFL car!!!
Emme,I am a big fan.
You make the car reviews so much more fun to watch.
Keep on trucking.
I remember working valet and dealership and when I mentioned CVT they were like what the hell is that? In other words most people getting in these things won't know the differences or even care.
I love Emme Hall. Thanks for bringing her on board.
Love your reviews and your energy. Holla !!!!
Nice car just like most Honda and Toyota. Most people don't care their car is not uber-special. They just want something cheap, safe and reliable.
I like how she does the basic car brands she's the best and most people will watch :)
I disagree. New reviewers voice is high pitched and occasionally grating and difficult to listen to. She doesn't present as a credible "car person." Perhaps TFL is appealing to the mid-30-50 female soccer mom target demographic by using her, but I don't think it was the best possible decision in this case.
dlr213 Maybe you should research her a little. She has been doing car reviews for a long time.
Test drove it today. It handles well. I liked everything except the rear's styling.

I have a CR-V 2000, so sad the new is not as off road capable as the first generation, but it is still a good car.
This is a really good car to own. The interior is a very nice place to be.
Respectfully, this review fails to even mention new Honda Sensing system, which includes Active Lane Keeping Assist, as well as the Active Collision Mitigation Braking System. Annoying how some people prefer the guys over Emme!! It's so rude and sexist and she knows as much about the cars as they do! I loved the review Emme!
I liked the CRV before they came up with this grill a few generations back. They need to change the face. When I first saw it I said to myself " Really that look worked so well for Kaiser Fraiser?"

Good review, Emme, I hope you also do review the Honda HR-V for TFL Car when that models goes on sale next year.
What's the HR-V?
John Frantz The new, smaller crossover vehicle from Honda. It's based on the Fit platform.
Oh that should be interesting.
Hey TFL, you forgot to talk about Radar Cruise and other features specific to Touring.
where is that video of the challenger spinning out?
Nothing says "uninteresting" more about a person when....
Great review Emme!
Hello Emme which one is the top of the line?
Does the adaptive cruise control feature work from 0 mph to 120 mph? Any limitations? Does it brake completely automatically and start driving automatically after braking completely? does it have the “Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function”?
Get rid of the person who did the shitty camera work on this video, or retrain him at least.
One thing this car has is on board Storage for the cargo cover, it is at the back by the rear door.
What da hell? Emme's hair color is back to normal. Also great review.
I'm stuck between either getting the CRV or Rav4. I have a little girl and I want something that is roomy, safe, reliable and good on gas. Which is better out of the two? Should I wait until the HRV is released and see how good that one is?
Apparently talking bad and making faces about CVT gives car reviewers street credit.
What song did you guys use in the opening?
When will Roman and/or Nathan take this off-road?
why? because that's what Roman and Nathan do with cute-utes, even their latest 2015 Subie Outback test, they took to their new off road course, where 99% of owners would never dream of taking their Outback.
Very well done objective review. Thanks

Yay, love the new hair color Emmy!
When is the 2016 coming out? Does anyone think it will be different VS 2015?
You guys didn't mentions none of the new features that 2015 CR-V Touring has!....
You're in Reston!!! I'm in Sterling. kewl... I want a CR-V 2015
You need your own channel Emme!

This model Honda CR-V 2015 does have LED lights?
Influenced by the Ford Edge in the front, and the Caddy Escalade in the back.
Wow you only get 22mpg? With our 2015 CR-V LX we get around 28mpg overall in the suburbs. It gets a few more than the Accord we used to own.
Off road?
No mention if you liked the CVT? The Accord CVT is very livable, how about here?
(2:10) uhhhh fancyyyyy hhaha She made me laugh at 1:41 am lol

Great Review Emmie! XOXOXOX
Does this car come in a v6?
No
I would love a CVT just because it'd be a smooth flow of power.
Bad music, Bad Hair, and even Bad camera work.
You forgot one thing. Bad comment!
The Fast Lane Car HA! Awesome! Wish I could thumbs up this more.
Love the hair!

Ivan, I love you.
Don't want a CVT? Sure, go buy something worse or something better, at an extra price. I wouldn't mind buying a Corvette, Ferrari, or even a Lamborghini over a CVT. But hey, money.

it is stupid to have larger tires then you need, looks nice when they come with, wait until you go replace the tires, extra money for bigger tires.
I'll be honest... She may have potential but she needs to perfect her car reviewing skills
Great channel guys! and the girls cute too! : )
Look up the diesel version 1.6 engine we have in uk and fuel economy
2015 motor trend SUV of the year
Emme -- I call the CR-V the ultimate compact mommymobile.
So, you know about Emme's forthcoming event !!!!
cvt's actually are the best.
She's acting like the car is horrible. Your not buying a bmw your buying a nice reliable, fuel efficient car. You get what you pay for
The more reviews I see with actual average mpg of 22 makes me want it way less. Honda really needs to work on the infotainment or just stop offering it. More soft-touch materials and additional chrome doesn't seem like upgrades to me.
better than the previous one
At 55mph its 1500 rpm and at 65 mph it's "only" 2800 rpm ?!?!
Huge resemblance to the Kia Sportage. Not a bad thing but just saying. From the front anyways.
Can we have TFLtruck guys re-do this review? Kthxbai.
love this review lol, so funny :)
You will never get the MPG that any car manufacture claims just like tire tread life warranty
that rear (piece of) chrome though...
You forgot the laundry basket rating!!!
No folding table in the trunk? Da faq
Forgot the trunk space. ='(
But will it baby + toddler?
I don't like how the shifter is in the dash. It reminds me of a minivan. I wish Honda would change it.
This thing is already having issues with engine vibration.

5:45 2800rpm at 65mph is pretty high......
Ash R yup pretty sure she got it wrong
My god, where did she get that jacket and those horrible boots? I can only believe her tailor has a good sense of humor. I just purchased this vehicle and have been pleased with it's overall performance thus far, but I sincerely hope no one else sees this video as I will be viewed as a true nerd. I don't want to be associated with this imagine. This woman needs a make-up real soon. A man suit would be a good start.
My dislike is not for the vehicle, it's for this lady . She is a horrible host
she is absolutely adorable.! ^-^
She always wanna Damn BUY IT!!!
She's a woman... that's what they do.
I would still choose the RAV4 over this car
