OMG!!! The other video I saw of this was a different angle and didn't catch the BGVs... Now I'm absolutely sobbing... They've been working together so long I imagine they're like sisters to each other now. 😭😭
And this is why Kelly is one of the GOATs. She made this song even BETTER and more inspirational. True healing comes from finding ur own worth outside of the validation of others. I'll forever sing this version of the song now!
How it is better? lol It is still the same...She just changed the he" (for brandon) to say "I"...and she changed "her" for her daughter to say "them" for both of her kids...One line is totally changed and that is "that a man can be kind like a father could be" to "a heart can beat even if it breaks" You make it sounds like she changed the entire song. This was the original song before she performed it to a slow version, so she just went back to the original version that she first recorded
@@heavensnewestangel It's different bc those subtle changes change the whole meaning of the song. Hence what I said about true healing. She's talking about healing from the trauma of being abandoned by her father, but the original implies that her husband filled those holes in her and essentially that her healing came from him. The message was beautiful but sort of gives the implication that a good man will heal the damage a bad man did and that healing happens when others validate us by making us feel worthy. In reality, this is a problem that many go through when trying to heal from trauma - they seek to fill those holes with validation and love from other ppl, but that never really works nor does it tend to be healthy in the long run for a variety of reasons. True healing is an internal thing. You have to give yourself the love and validation you didn't receive as a kid and need to feel truly worthy on ur own. This new version makes the message more about self empowerment and self love. Picking yourself up and filling your own holes instead of needing that from others, which clearly didn't work out for her. Anyway, I hope u aren't just trying to be argumentative, as I'm not interested in arguing. I'm just saying that I love and respect that adjusted self empowerment message that shows where she is now in that healing process and really learning to love herself first. And that IS a big change. Not in words, but in message and meaning and impact.
Watching Jessi cry throughout the whole performance 🥺😭
