Had to pause mid video to say that Ben Holladay makes some absolutely amazing whiskey there in Missouri. First time watching your channel so I don’t know your selection but if you haven’t had their stuff you should. The rickhouse barrel proof is high proof and their bottled in bond soft red wheat is hard to beat at 100 proof. Now I have to pour one. Cheers. New sub. Edit: I enjoy this format. Nothing pretentious and always stating the price.
Thanks for tuning in! I have definitely enjoyed Ben Holladay soft red wheat BiB and rickhouse proof, as well as the regular rickhouse proof. The regular BiB is pretty decent.
High West stopped doing store pick Double Rye's and now do their cask strength bourbon for picks. So if you do find those old Double Rye picks you should stash one away.
Cheers! Texas guy here.. Love Balcones, but I am ashamed to say that haven't had many Balcones picks. Plan to change that this year. KC picks Old Scout picks which are getting older in age again. Penelope picks Bardstown single barrel picks
I've tried Green River Single Barrel. It's good. Almost bought it, but wasn't looking to spend much. I've also seen Blue Note Unfiltered Uncut in two stores in my area.
i have 3 2023 variations, all are with the french mocha and now have a small red label to the far right edge running vertically with the bottle # of that batch@@TheSubourbonDad
my 2022 bottles are all french mendiant but all my 2023 picks are back to french mocha with the red label on the far right with bottle # of # @@TheSubourbonDad

Have you tried any of the Nashville barrel company picks ? Awesome as welll
I got to try a couple samples and they were very tasty
Also, if you find a Bardstown origin series single barrel store pick.... incredible
Looking to get my hands on an Old Forester barrel strength pick this year.
Good call, I’d go for one of those too. I’ve tried a 100pf store pick that was just ok. Haven’t tried BP yet.
The Green River single barrels are really good. Definitely pick one up if you can find it!

Dang. I hated their prairie bourbon. Hopefully those are better
I didn't know High West ever did store picks for the Double Rye! I never saw one here in East Tennessee. I would totally buy one if I saw it.
Cheers!

Speaking of high proofers and Missouri, have you tried the Rickhouse proof Ben Holladay stuff out of Weston, MO?
Yeah, good stuff. Especially the full proof soft red wheat

KCMO guy here. I just saw at a local store(Bubbles and Hy-Vee) the 2023 Missouri High West pick finished in rum barrels.
pretty sure the makers private selects are back to using the french mocha staves instead of the french mendiant.
Hmm haven’t seen that
