So I also was struggling with that as well, my issue was that I was doing it on 990 and not 999. Sounds weird but for some reason they don't die when the enemy is stronger, but when they are slightly weaker lan and lavatune always die early.

Dang the last formation isnt working for me not sure why. Cant get Lan/Lavatune to stay alive
