Intresting! Magnets are really hard material, so what type of drill, did you use? Size of the drill? The screw you used, was it a self-tapping screw? Do you have some close up pictures of your work? I think I would do the same counter poise and handle the magnet mount with care. 73's de SM6GZL
Hello Leif, good morning from OE. In case of my MagMount the magnet itself is inside a steel housing. It was not so hard to drill a hole. I used a short M5 screw with a nut between the magnet and housing. But it should also work by cutting a thread. I will send you a picture. 73 de Juergen OE4JHW
@@AH6UN_OE4JHW Good morning and thanks a lot for quick reply! Ok, so your drilling hole is not in to the magnet it self? You drilled in "normal" steel then? Have you tried to go with 2 x 10 meters counterpoises or is it good to go, with 1 x 10 meters? I have a spare magnet mount and a wild thought said to me, why not use that as a counter poise as well? Connect two magnet mounts together on the roof. What is your opinion about that?
@@leifunell2132 Yes, I just drilled through the steel. I put the screw through the hole from the outside. The nut is inside. There is less than a centimeter of space between the magnet and the housing. You have to be careful not to damage the magnet when drilling. In my case a 1 x 10 meter counterpoise is enough. I emailed you two photos. 73 de Juergen
Good demonstration! 👍
Thank you Øyvind
Very useful test, thank-you. Would be interesting to see what the results from raising the counterpoise wire or adding several as radials. 73 G0ACE
