I've watched this video so many times in the past week I can almost sing along...even though I didn't even know this language existed a week ago. What's so cool is that it shows Broken Peach isn't just an internet creation. They're the real deal. Love it.
I love that Broken Peach is a real band. It's not a group of singers over recorded backing tracks or session players. It's clear that they all show up for rehearsal and they love what they do. This is the band I always wanted to be in. You fucking rock!
This is another BP I keep going back to. Understand very few words -- it's the harmonies and happiness that get to me. And the talent - the overriding excellence of what could be a simple song lifted to another level of performance artistry.
A very cool sounding song! But hey, it's Broken Peach, they could sing the telephone directory and make it sound amazing. For those of you who, like me, do not speak Galician, here are the lyrics in english. I met you at a bar when you were dancing (Yes, yes, you met me at a bar) Accompany me to the portal and invite me to enter (Yes, yes, you came to my portal) And then I lunged and kissed you passionately (And they tell you a push and I left you on the ground) No, no, not everything is as it seems, friend You have to think very carefully Alas, alas, sometimes put your foot down, uncle And everything turns upside down Invite them to dine at a French restaurant (Yes, yes, you invited me to eat) And I spent some money and we toasted with champagne (Yes, yes, we drank a lot of champagne) And then I wanted to try the softness of your skin (And I threw the bottle of champagne at you) No, no, not everything is as it seems, friend You have to think very carefully Alas, alas, sometimes put your foot down, uncle And everything turns upside down And then I gave away a chanel perfume (And I threw him to the ground because I don't like to smell good) No, no, not everything is as it seems, friend You have to think very carefully Alas, alas, sometimes put your foot down, uncle And everything turns upside down No, no, not everything is as it seems, friend You have to think very carefully Alas, alas, sometimes put your foot down, uncle And everything turns upside down
As someone who understands a little Castilian Spanish, I could tell this was not it. I was initially thinking Catalan as I had to learn a song in Catalan as part of my church choir...turns out Galician is going west to Portugal, not east to France, who knew? And wow, wonder if Broken Peach is doing the song phonetically?
Dang, wanted to like them, but don’t care for their music in two languages now. Not knocking ‘em, I’m sure they have hella lot more $$$$ than I’ll ever even get close to. Kudos.
@@ja-bv3lq I mean do you actually know SPANISH SPANISH or do you know Mexican Spanish or you even worse one of those poor bastards that knows Tex-Mex Spanish?...I'm on of those last ones. I went to Brazil for work ages ago and it was funny I understood the French side of Portuguese better than I understood the Spanish (did take Latin in HS). Worked in Spain in another job and a QC guy came with me and he had hard time speaking Spanish cause it wasn't exactly the same as what he grew up with.
So I recently discovered this incredible group. My very first introduction was the 2022 Halloween rendition of "Don't you want me?". I have seen many other performances and I like them all. It's amazing that they can be so toned down with their physical performance on songs like this then......become total freaks when they put the makeup on!
¡ Unha vez máis, Broken Peach e os Cutis Nectarinas 🍑 demostran a súa sublime versatilidade cantando unha canción orixinal en perfecto Galego ! ¡ Bicos ! 💋
Happy Galician Language Day, Peaches everywhere...Viva Galicia! (BTW Galician is not Spanish, nor is it a dialect of Spanish. It is a language on its own, sharing a descent from Latin with Spanish-- but then most of the Romance languages such as Italian also descended from Latin.)

As a brit who can't speak Spanish, I have to say I love this.
It's Galician, not Spanish 😜

Now I wish I had taken Spanish as a language elective in college. I must say that the guitars and drums sound the same in any language 😀😀
