Hamilton Festival of Friends 2009; World Record Guitar Ensemble Attempt - Angle 2

08 August 2009, Festival of Friends, Hamilton Ontario. An attempt to set a Guinness world record for the World's largest guitar ensemble. The target was 1803 musicians. They had pros and amateurs, kids and adults all putting heart and soul into Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water."
1,726 guitar players standing in the middle of Gage Park, hacking away at Smoke On The Water.
But in the end, our attempt Saturday to beat the Guinness world record for largest guitar ensemble ever assembled fell 77 short. The record of 1,802 achieved by Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany, still stands.
But if there is such a thing as a consolation prize, Hamilton won it. We beat Toronto. Hogtowns attempt earlier this summer to beat the record garnered only 1,623 strummers.
