2:18, 16th, you should be proud. You are an inspiration. Since I started following your videos, I moved on from 5K to half-marathon. Looking forward to the years ahead, as I increase length and pace. Keep on going.
Great race Sage! I enjoyed our brief chat on the plane ride back to Denver. Personally, I find it unreal that any human can run a 5:19 pace marathon in soaking wet pillow shoes into a 20mph headwind. You totally rock! Glad you aren't giving up the fight for OTQ! I'm looking forward to following your efforts.
Appreciate all of the videos Sage. The Columbus Marathon is in late October and is very flat. It's a great event that the city embraces, would love to see you here. Good luck with all the races this year!
I'm gonna stay tuned Sage! You're not only really inspiring, but also kind of the most interesting guy on YT here for me as a runner. In Germany there are almost no "running guys" on YT. Really appriciate your trainingtalks!!! (often I listen to you, during meal preperation or cooldown after a run:D) Well...I also have to struggle with my focus what reace I get into. In august I'm going to race a Half-Ironman, just a month and a half before my key goal in 2015 - Sub2:50. Will be my 2. 42er. I love this distance too. Soo just keep going!! And keep in mind: >>YOU NEVER KNOW WHERE YOUR LIMITS ARE. YOU JUST KNOW WHERE THERE AREN'T. "
Great Race Sage, Congratulations!!! Thanks to your training talks and advice you helped me PR by 10 seconds and re- qualify for next years race. Thank You for being here. Ron
well done Sage, great race in trying conditions. You have what it takes to get your OTQ, keep going! Looking forward to watching more "another training talk" and OTQ videos
Sage you are the man!!! Top 20 at Boston in those conditions was impressive and I'm chasing 3:15 BQ myself so thank you for the inspiration!!! My half PR is 1:25 so I know its doable!
Since Training for an OTQ series is going to have to stop for a while, are we still going to see videos of your training for comrads etc. Great job with boston btw!
I feel like a little girl giggling after seeing her favorite boy band when I get a notification that you've released a new video! Great effort as always, Sage. We're all very proud of you and we look forward to more inspiration! Next up is the Comrades (would love to see a series on your training for that: "Comrades 100 Series"). Also, I'm signed up for TNF in December, really looking forward to meeting you there bro!
Great race and great recap video! Amazing to place that high in a race of this caliber. Very inspiring all around and glad to hear there may be another attempt coming later in the year!
solid performance sage! I can't believe how well you ran despite the weather. I was there and saw you run by at mile ~17,5. Great job and you'll get 'em next time for sure!!!
Awesome job! Totally love your positivity!! Remember, the OTQ opportunity comes along only so often, while most of those ultras happen every year. May be time to narrow focus and really hammer that OTQ!! Whatever you choose, your dedication and commitment will carry you through.

Great effort Sage! Thanks for being an inspiration and for the awesome videos. Keep it up!!
You did awesome, adversity builds character you'll get it :) Your OTQ series and training talks have been fantastic, knowing conditions you ran in Boston gave me a little extra motivation as I went out the door for my long run Tuesday through the wind and snow.
You looked great at 7 and 16. We were cheering you on at both mile markers. Most of my friends who ran noticed a two minute slower over all time. Hang in there!
Vo2maxProductions Sage, another inspiring video, watching you chase your dreams and get over knocks really helps me dig deep when I need too. Good luck with comrades and can't wait to see more videos. Is there a way we can let Hoka know what a great advert you are for their product!! Hope the body heals fast.
What a beautiful scenery there in Boulder, I would have loved to live there, if it hadn't been so great already in Norway ^^ Keep up the good work, and I hope you recover well!
Hi Sage, great video as always. I have got question: before a marathon (or important race) how do you calm yourself down/sleep? I'm always struggling with that despite the fact that I have run a few marathons already and covered the distance in training plenty of times. I would find it really interesting to here about your strategies and also what you do on the day before. All the best for the future!
Hey Sage, No way! Didn't know you are running Comrades. So pleased to hear you'll be taking on the journey with us. Feel free to contact me. I live in Durban and am running for what will hopefully be my 4th. If you need help with seconds etc I can probably hook you up.
Awesome effort in Boston with such a strong headwind. All the best for the Comrades ``marathon." How do you train for it? Do you do super long runs like 35 miles+? Which direction is it this year? PS: Steve Way has pulled out of the Comrades.
Amazing race, Sage! I was wondering if you could share what you do to recover after a road marathon? I've just (last Sunday) done my first non-trail marathon in many years and while I'm slowly starting to feel human again, it seems to be taking a while to recover. Do you have any tips? Thanks and best of luck for the rest of your season!
Hey Coach Sage, you've recommended carrying gels during your marathon races in past vids. I don't see a running belt on you or any other elite athlete for either the LA and Boston. Where do you put your gels?
Sage would you ever consider running Detroit the third week of October? It is pretty flat and with the times you are posting you would win it. I know winning isn't as important as qualifying for the trial, but how cool would it be to win and qualify! !
Argh... You really didn't have a luck with weather conditions :( First thought after I saw results was "Why didn't select Houston!?". Almost sure bet for good result... Just do not go over your current abilities and stress your body too much. Rest and recovery well. According to your training log, you have in legs sub 2:16. Result will come, for sure. Good luck, Sage!
How many people will actually qualify? In LA and Boston you were like in the top 6 Americans. If only 2 or 3 people can hit that time in these big races It seems like there only be like 10 - 15 people running in LA next year to make the team.
"I'm not gonna give up". Precisely what I wanted to hear! GO ON!!!
2:18, 16th, you should be proud. You are an inspiration. Since I started following your videos, I moved on from 5K to half-marathon. Looking forward to the years ahead, as I increase length and pace. Keep on going.

Congratulations, Sage! Awesome performance! You rock! It is very informative to hear your race plans! Look forward to continuing to follow you!
Since Training for an OTQ series is going to have to stop for a while, are we still going to see videos of your training for comrads etc. Great job with boston btw!

Congrats Sage!!!👍✌
Dublin Ireland Marathon is around end October and has a level circular course which is regarded as fast.
thats a beautiful mountain. I have to visit Boulder one day
Congrats on your BM finish!
nice pics of the race..top 16 at Boston is very cool. It looked liked #54 was drafting you and you were pacing him for the last 20k or so.
Though you might not want to wait till the last day possible to get an OTQ in, it would be awesome to see you in Houston next January.
Well done dude!
2:19...aka my half marathon time lol
Your not alone sir!
You can do it, we can help. Go Sage.
