    Do you guys have any personal tips on hair shedding and the regrowth process?

    • @HerBackwardGlance
      @HerBackwardGlance 5 лет назад +4

      Rachel Nguyen avocado oil or Jamaican black castor oil!

    • @Maggie2809
      @Maggie2809 5 лет назад +1

      Rachel Nguyen I agree about dry shampoo causing hair loss! I know there are heaps of advice to wash your hair less, but I found with my Asian hair every 3-4 days wash is the way to go. Any longer I find I lose a lot more hair on the next wash.
      I’m definitely all about the scalp care nowadays so I like to use products that are sulfate free and anything with peppermint to stimulate the scalp 👍🏽😊

      I've always wondered if waiting out a few extra days results to more hair loss because the days leading up, the shedded hair is stuck in my tangles lol

    • @VictoriaRebecaM
      @VictoriaRebecaM 5 лет назад +5

      Rachel Nguyen thats probably normal because naturally we shed 50-100 hairs a day, that’d definitely accumulate in tangles 😅

      I’ve started washing my hair less and that helps a lot as well as rubbing coconut oil or water in the roots of my hair while wet

    I honestly really like your natural ringlets! They suit you so well. If you do want the looser curl, though, and per someone else's comment about sleeping with wet hair=split ends, perhaps you could try braiding your hair at night? Just one to the back should do. I figure that would give you your desired curl and minimize heat usage, while also minimizing the possibility of split ends since your hair isn't being rolled over during the night. Just a thought! Love the vids as always. P.S. when are you and jenny going to do a roadtrip and press on nails again? By far one of my fave moments of yours x

    If you're experiencing hair loss these small changes may help:
    Get a satin or silk pillow case. Cotton is the enemy of hair moisture.
    Try using a lotion heat protectant before you blow-dry and flat iron.
    Separate your hair into sections when you comb it out and spray a light mixture of conditioner and water on your hair when you do. Also starting from the ends and working your way up helps to get tangles out easier without compromising your hair.
    Sincerely a curly haired girl

    my mom always said that sleeping with wet hair makes it rotten! tbh sometimes i go to sleep with him wet because i wake up with waves like you had and they look so dreamy lol but the scalp looks... not dirty but not clean you know?
    i have a little bit of hair loss, it gets worse when the seasons change i think
    i also stopped brushing my hair a few years ago and i have a lot of more volume now, for the knots just use the fingers and its fine

    Tips/ my experience:
    So recently like the beginning of this year I changed my birth control and it was the worst mistake I made. Because this birth control makes my hair fall out.ive stopped taking it but it started in June/ July and it’s not mid October and my hair is still falling out. I feel like I’ve lost a lot of thickness and just hair in general. So I’ve been doing a lot of research on how to help my hair grow back thicker and quicker.
    1. Don’t use hot styling tools
    2. Don’t wash your hair every day and when you do wash it use cold water ( or as cold as you can take it.)
    3. Vitamins like biotin zinc and fish oil help
    4. Drink a lot of water
    5. In take as much protein as possible from leafy greens to nuts and beans
    That’s just some of the stuff I’ve found. Oh and 6. Doing a protein hair mask once a week with plain Greek yogurt to strengthen your hair to stop shedding will help too.
    I know my problem is hormonal and I’m actually seeing a doctor about it tomorrow so hopefully this stops. It’s very scary.

    • @thatschicblog
      @thatschicblog  5 лет назад

      Gabi Maza ooooh this mask sounds amazing. How has your journey been at this point?

    • @gabimaza780
      @gabimaza780 5 лет назад

      Rachel Nguyen the thing ive notice make the most immediate change in my hair is the protein mask on my hair. I do it every Sunday. I suggest watching curly penny’s tutorial on it here on YT helped a lot. And drinking water too has helped my hair and my skin😉 a nice plus.

    • @gabimaza780
      @gabimaza780 5 лет назад

      Rachel Nguyen also I just saw another video that said to not do protein masks too often. Do them like once every other week (: too much protein is bad for your hair too

  • @rauha1761
    @rauha1761 5 лет назад

    i use coconut oil and massage it in my scalp for 5 min before jumping in the shower. i used to do it everyday after getting a horrible haircut and it helped my hair grow back thick and long fast. it helps to flip your head upside down and massage it! i have pretty thin hair so i never brush my hair when its wet. i know people say not to, but i wash my hair everyday because it gets greasy super quickly. if i skip a day of not washing my hair, larger clumps of hair tend to fall out.

    YOUR NATURAL WAVES ARE SO CUTE! looks like you spent time at the beach.. I never knew that was what your natural hair was like it's honestly so damn pretty! I have a really similar texture even tho I'm mixed with black white and indian, except my curls are a little tighter and more defined. My hair has grown about 10 inches in about 2 1/2 years and even tho I had a big chop (speeeeeds up the growing process) i religiously bleached my hair (every time there was even a centimetre of new growth I would rebleach r.i.p. hair). my scalp really suffered and i shedded a lot.. a tip that really worked for me was rubbing a mixture of Jamaican black castor oil, jojoba oil and vit e into my scalp for about 10 minutes before washing to really get the circulation going. since doing that my hair is grown a mile a minute it's really amazing ! anyway i love your content and you're a really big inspiration to me! hope you have a good day rachel!

    I have silver/grey hair so my hair has been through a lot over the past two years. I would really recommend sleeping with your hair in a braid (I started doing that a few months ago and I've noticed that I haven't had as many split ends)! I've also stopped brushing/combing my hair when it's wet and it has really helped with split ends and hair loss !!

    YAY! a rachel video! also.. I shed more than usual this season. I think the change in weather causes it but apart from that I've been struggling with hair loss for a while- I think the best thing is to avoid heat at all costs as much as possible oh and regular hair trims. If you feel like you have to blow dry for volume, a volumizing shampoo really helps with that, I like the Keranique Scalp Stimulating Shampoo, it gets rid of build up without drying hair and really volumizes my fine hair, I can go several days without washing and using dry shampoo

  • @aliciawill6965
    @aliciawill6965 5 лет назад

    Your hair loses 150-200 strands each day, naturally (this amount is different depending on the individual but a good base amount). So if you comb your hair everyday then you should expect to see that much hair loss (shedding). If you comb your hair every other day or hardly ever, then you should expect to see more hair loss. Hair loss is natural. The amount of hair loss shown in this video looks like the natural amount of hair loss to me. So you are fine! If it is still something you are not happy with, I would suggest letting more days pass between hair washes and combing your hair with combs that have more space in between the teeth.

    Yes to dry shampoo causing hair loss for me as well. It caused my hair follicles to clog. Did a bit of research and talked with a bunch of hair stylists who let me know a healthy scalp has 3 strands/follicle. I stopped using dry shampoo and started using a Breo scalp/shampoo massager during my showers and my scalp eczema disappeared and my hair grew back!

    Love your video Rachel!!! So happy you're back!
    About the hair shedding problem, I remember you said before that you have thick hair (maybe i was delusional), but did you get hair shedding problem after you went platinum blonde years ago?
    I changed my hair to platinum blonde recently (like 4-5 months ago). I had hair shedding even before i dyed my hair because i used to had 1.4m hair. I cut my hair into bob like 3 years ago and the shedding stop. But now my platinum blonde hair is shedding (like it should be). But now I'm worried if eventually i changed my hair back to natural color, it won't stop shedding...
    Love you and your style so much! I hope you post more often but seriously, don't feel pressure to post more. As long as you produce what you are happy with.
    Br,
    Paige Nguyen

      PPhage31 if you bleach often make sure you're givin your scalp some love.. gently massaging oil castor, jojoba and vit e into into it for about 10 minutes before washing has really helped me heal the damage that bleach did to my scalp. also try your best to avoid shampoos and conditioners with sulfates and silicones ! much love

    • @thatschicblog
      @thatschicblog  5 лет назад +3

      thank you for the sweet comment and keen attention. I did say that! Somewhere...
      I think my hair has finally been chill after the blonde days, but I picked up a bad habit from the blonde days and that was dry shampooing my hair like crazy to outlast each shampoo. It caused so much blockage that I had to really fight to clean that all up. I gave up dry shampoo and processing my hair. I have good days and bad days, still would like to minimize shedding even more, but what I forgot to film was all my little bb hair growths! I feel like a plant.
      Thank you for relieving me of the pressure of posting haha, I have a vlog I'm working on kindaaa covering my hiatus x

    I used to have waist length hair then cut it to a pixie and I maintained it that way for about 4 years before growing it out to shoulder length. Is it just me or has anyone else ever experienced a lot more shedding in the process of growing out their hair like I have? I used to think it just felt like a lot of hair was coming out because the strands were longer but it's actually the amount of strands falling that has increased. When my hair was short, I could part it and hardly see my scalp but now I notice a lot more of the white of my scalp. I mostly use Calia Natural products and it had helped a lot with the shedding but recently it hasn't been working as well as it used. I'm thinking of just cutting my hair off again back to a pixie since that always stopped the shedding. I guess I have pretty weak roots that can't handle the weight of my hair. Idk.
