    You're the first person on RUclips to say you can't use boosted antennas. I ordered two +50dB antennas. Thanks to you I've ordered 2x passive/unpowered antennas. Though might use one of the boosted ones in the TV to receive as might help. Those boosters aren't available but I've found another booster that's not an inline one which I'll try if not might have to experiment

    I like people who experiment and keep old tech alive. I am a bit like that myself, only with old computers.

    What works even better is to use one of those large rooftop antennas! I did once, and was able to transmit to a neighbor across the street. :D

    A color portable like that used to cost a "small" fortune.

    Can I do this without the boosters if the transmitter and the TV are in the same room?

      Possibly no. If without booster/amplifiers, the signal is not strong.

      Buy a modulator that can take a digital source like HDMI in and send analog RF out

    You'd probably get similar results using one of those video senders from the early 1990s - used to be sold in the back of Satelliet equipment mags and transmitted to a spare tv channel when you plugged it into a device

    • @redbaron474
      @redbaron474 2 года назад

      But those transmit on a different frequency from regular tv signals, which means you can't broadcast to others unless they have a special receiver box

      @@redbaron474 The one we had tuned into Channel 52 and was changable by turning a screw on the back of the device.

    have you ever checked the old analog channels (DXing - so to speak...heh) to see if anybody with similar ideas is 'broadcasting' near you......I wonder how strong a signal you could make before someone would notice.....if you lived in a city...you could make neighborhood-wide "tv stations" in effect..though it might render a lot of a cell phones or whatever is using that frequency now...useless........Im in a suburb..so...even if someone down the street was trying this little trick....I doubt I would see anything (though with an analog signal - even if you are just getting a faint signal...you can see *something* - digital craps out if it isn't getting like an 80 percent signal....which makes DXing in the modern age....no fun....) - I should dig out an old tv....

      hellomcflyy hi Yeh there's no one any where near me transmitting on analogue. But this is low power so probably only next door to me would be able to pick it up. I think broadcasting anything more powerful is more than likely illegal in the UK. Even tho nothing is transmitted on there anymore

      Oh yes there is, Digital Tv is transmitted there. It still uses the same part of the Band that Analog television used here in the uk. It is only visible as fuzz on an old analog set though.

      Im going to start checking - who knows...I was watching some videos from Florida - and they still pick up analog signals from Cuba and Panama.....go figure....Im up in Massachusetts...so...probably not a lot......
