So many quilting videos show these perfect blocks where everything matches up. When one of Jenny's blocks doesn't match up perfectly, she just says I don't know why that happens sometimes, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. You are so right, Jenny, and I love that you make me feel that everything I do isn't expected to be perfect! BTW, I love this quilt!
Beautiful quilt. I can't believe you got all those pieces out of a 10" square!
What a lovely pattern. Thanks Holly Ann for letting Jenny share with us.
I could see this in pale pink and white. Pretty pattern !
Please don't say things to ruin these awesome informational you tube tutorials that Jenny shares with us. I hope she continues this. It is so very helpful to so many. I love you Jenny! Stay safe on your mission trip, I will be praying for you and your hubs. May God keep you safe.
I don’t understand what you mean by someone saying things that ruin videos? Please explain!
Holly Anne Knight is an amazing teacher. Her online free motion quilting classes are the best thing I ever could have taken. She has quite a few patterns too that are so much fun to make!
Thank you, Lisa! You’re such a Rockstar! 🥳
Thank you for showing us how to make this block. I will miss your Friday tutorials and Triple Play. Prayers for your mission trip. Spreading God's word is key while we are here on earth.
This is the quilt pattern my grandma used to make my high school graduation quilt. She used a sashing in between the blocks. I wanted to recreate the quilt and so now I can. Thank you 😊
Good luck, Jenny and Ron
I'm going to miss your tutorials. You really have influenced my love for quilting. It has helped me through some tough times
in recent years. Safe ❤ travels. ❤❤
I see circles in there also! Very cool, I love it. I am imagining a scrappy floral on top of the background.
Beautiful quilt
What a great pattern! Thank you, Holly Ann for letting Jenny share your genius!! 🧵
I found you durinv lockdown, & learned so much from you. Always wanted to quilt & watching your videos gave me the confidence to do it! God Bless for your mission & thank you so much.
Love that you made the Dogwood Blossom quilt today. Here is GA the dogwoods have been in full bloom. Thanks Jenny!
Will miss your tutorials but glad you are going to follow your dreams
This is a really cute quilt. I had expected little tumbler blocks ( turned into wedges ) with triangles on the side. I bet Natalie could figure out how to do it that way too! Thanks for sharing this quilt!
Me too! 😊
I LOVE this one! It's like looking at an English garden. It would look cute with a pink background, too. Thanks!
Love this one! I’m trying to make a “flower themed” quilt for each of my 4 granddaughters, this might end up being one of them but will need to make it larger, probably double bed size. Looks like I need to order the pattern to help with that math plus those 2 templates. I keep saying I’m not buying any more templates or rulers but then something always shows up 😊
Love this one Jenny. Thanks for sharing..
Love the pattern!
Another beautiful quilt to add to my list! I love the background colour. :)
Isn't the background color everything!? 😍
Love this pattern. I can see a fussy cut flower/blossom in the center of each block.
Thanks for another great tutorial. You make it seem as though anyone can do this and you are right - we can do it since you've shown us the way.
Holly Anne has a lovely pattern here. I really like it in the solids. Your cutting diagram for a layer cake is genius, Jenny. Thanks a bunch for highlighting a fellow Quilt Shop owner’s happy pattern.
Thank you Jenny for another fab tutorial I very much appreciate how much you do for the quilting world. You will be sorely missed but hope you enjoy every moment of your mission trip with your hubby, God Bless x
I love the non-white background. So cool.
An enjoyable pattern!
Cool pattern. Fridays won’t be the same without your tutorials. Take care
It would be pretty with different colored centers for the flowers.
I love this pattern! Thankyou for the clear instructions!
Thank you so much for making Dogwood Blossoms, Jenny! I love your color choices!
I think I can make this with my accuquilt block dies. I love the green, it gives it a vintage look with the modern design.
Safe travels Jenny and Ron... God bless and a big THANK YOU... I found you on "day one" and it's brought me to a wonderful "retirement life"...Hugs, GrammaBabs
Super cute and surprising quilt! 🎉
Love your mantras❤
I am going to miss you very much! Your videos are so helpful and your voice is very soothing!! It is like sewing with my grandma❤. I have learned a great deal with all your tips and tricks!! Congratulations on your trip and being able to share the love of Jesus with others. I am praying for safe travels for you and Ron.
Interesting block. Looking at it at first I thought the tumbler template was used.
Thx Jenny. Love the colors!!! You make everything seem so easy. I learned how to quilt from your videos-years ago. I wish you and Ron a safe and happy mission. Will miss you. ❤❤
Love this collaboration between 2 of my favorite quilters! HollyAnne and Jenny both have such passion for quilting! This is another quilt on my "to-do" list...have the pattern...just need to pick fabrics!
Huzzah! Thanks, Rockstar!! 🥳
Very cute pattern. Jenny, you are a treasure. 🎶💐💖🫂
Kinda reminds me of Dizzy Daises that Natalie loves. Love how the large one looks . Thanks Jenny.
The dogwood is also the state tree and flower here in Virginia!! I think I'll have to make this one!
Jenny, will miss you while your gone but I’m so happy for you & Ron! Love you guys! ❤
Are they retiring? Where was that announcement?
@user-hk8it2bt4h the family made an announcement that Jenny and Ron are going to Africa for missions for 2 years.
@@cherylskiles8524 ah, my sister-in-law and her husband did similarly after retirement, but stateside.
Very cute pattern and great choice of colours! I think it could also be done quite easily with foundation paper piecing, with four identical units per block. (Though this way would probably require more fabric/yardage).
Amazing cuts to make this block.
Thank you Jenny for a get up and go morning to get started. You will be missed for sure. Prayers and best wishes.
I couldn’t comment for some reason 🤷♀️on your announcement video so I’m putting it here. So happy for y’all on your mission call to Africa. One of my sons served on the little island off of Africa, Madagascar when he was 19. Sadly, my husband died 2 years ago so we will not be able to do that but will enjoy following you on yours. Bless you and your family. I love love your videos.
Estos tutoriales son mi alegria de los viernes . Tengo muchas años viéndote. eres mi maestra favorita . Te voy a extrañar mucho.
Oh my gosh I’m gonna so miss you…God bless
Is she not going to do tutorials anymore?
Jenny and Ron are going to do missionary work in Africa for a couple of years.
@chooky1780 thank you for the response. Blessings to them but they'll be very missed❤️
@norahoule916 I'm so happy for them, but I will miss her terribly 😥😥 I guess we'll learn more, but I just got to thinking about the Triple Plays.
Beautiful quilt and wonderful tutorial!!
You sure get your exercise with this one. Up and down, up and down! LOL
This is wonderful! I watch every week and LOVE when you do a modern quilt in solids!!! And no borders ❤❤❤❤!
Love it!
Gorgeous 😍
Great quilt. ❤❤❤❤
Thank you, Jenny! Great tutorial! I am missing the idea of your weekly tutorials already!
This is a beautiful pattern! ❤❤
I love this quilt totally cute
❤❤❤
Absolutely beautiful!
This is so clever, and green is nature's neutral so it's perfect for the background. Thank you for the demo Jenny.
Pretty quilt. Something to consider for the future. Never used my TriRects tool yet and I bought it decades ago!
Now’s the time! This is a fun block, and the 18” version makes a great pillow if you want to practice before committing to a whole quilt 🙌🏽
Such a fun quilt ! 🤗
Omg I live in Duluth! So wished I had known you were here$
Thank you each quilt is beautiful
Excellent video
Very cute! 🥰
Cool block!!! ❤
great pattern, beautiful quilt, nice collaboration! i only wonder why jenny used just 30 of 42 pieces of a layer cake... ?
Love the colors
Oon the dogwood block could you sash them together ether using a leaf design or by makeing all blocks the same
amei, ficou lindo.
Nice pattern. I would first cut a 2inch strip, then I would get an extra 2inch in stead of throwing away unneccessary little pieces
I agree.
It seems like it would be easier to cut one strip 2 inches wide, then cut into five 2-inch squares. One will be extra for your crumb bin. This will leave a rectangle 8 inch by 10 inch. Then cut the 4 inch, the 3 1/2, and the 2 1/2 strips, each one 8 inches tall.
Well, that was not how I thought this block would go together. I saw the petals as tumbler shapes and wondered how it could possibly sew together. I might have to get out my tumbler template & give that a try (sometimes the "what ifs" drive me crazy until I test them out.)
I'd love to see what you come up with- it sounds like you might end up with something really cool!
Danna, I know what you mean! I feel like trying this one in foundation paper piecing, drafted to work for charm squares or layer cakes.
When I sew a snowball corner I sew slightly outside towards the edge. That way I have enough fabric left to cover the entire corner. If it is too big…trim it. Better bigger than smaller.
We totally concur that bigger is always better than smaller when it comes to fabric!
I have the same timmer clearly perfect and while the slit is provided, I'd rather sit there with a scissors and snip a whole bunch at once--it's quicker for me than to fuss with the slot.
Could this block also be made using the tumbler template?
Where can I get material Missy used in her Echo Star log cabin tutorial
Luv luv pattern just too much cutting for me
I like the Dogwood Blossom pattern however, if one doesn't own that particular cutting small ruler, that is a lopsisded rectangle/ triangles ruler, how do we proceed ?
Like Jenny mentioned, you can improve the tri-recs, or the pattern includes a blog link to my article about how to make the unit without the ruler. However, I find the tri-recs tool to be incredibly useful and definitely recommend it 🙌🏽
🤯
How long will u b gone
Two years is what she said in the other video
I am a big fan of both Jenny Doan and HollyAnne Knight. I am also a big fan of copyright. How is this not copyright infringement when publishing dimensions of a pattern that isn’t your copyright? 😮 Assembly tips are one thing but actual measurements crosses the line in my interpretation of copyright.
Jenny asked for and received my full permission for this tutorial. This video is the bonus block size for the pattern. For the original 18" block, step by step directions, diagrams, and more you'll still have to purchase the pattern. I love that Jenny showed how to work with the 10" squares!
@@StringandStory
Thank you for clarifying. Another quilter that I follow refuses to reveal any measurements beyond the finished size if it isn’t her pattern.
I’m quite sure Jenny and her crew took care of this already!
Hi Jenny. What is the Green kona background color name?
Kona Cotton - Cypress Yardage
@@nonya.bizness ty!!!!
This one looks a bit more complicated…. Mmmmm
You can do it, Rockstar! Jenny is correct that the tri-recs unit is the trickiest, but working with solids is a perfect way to make it more simple (so pieces are reversible). Just match up the pieces like she showed, and you're good to go! ☺
Nope, I would make such a mess of this, it's beautiful but I need a lot more practice
You can do it! The 18” block makes a perfect pillow if you want to try just one 🙌🏽
When Donna Jordan teaches another person's pattern, she doesn't give away all the sizes. I fear that this pattern will just be stolen and viewers won't buy the maker's pattern.
She may have gotten permission
Although I agree with what you’ve said @robinbrady3030 unfortunately I’m sure this happens quite often and not just with MSQC tutorials
You know, Jenny’s been doing this a long time, I’m sure she knows what she’s doing! ❤
Not a good witness when anyone steals.
Hi Robin! I'm the pattern designer, and Jenny absolutely had my permission and collaboration for this tutorial. I'm delighted that she shared the 9" block with y'all, and if you love the block, I hope you'll consider purchasing the pattern so you'll also have the 18" block and all the diagrams and maths ☺
❤❤❤
