I love comments like this, obviously you must have some really stupid pets and know people who are so neglectful they let their kids approach running machinery.....
That's very cool. It looks very cool to fly but the safety factors would concern me. I would guess that surrounding the propellers would mess up lift? For safety though, putting the pilot inside a cage structure could protect them more. I see you added a overhead roll over type bar overhead. But if it's possible to cage the propellers, that would be awesome. I'm just thinking about pet's or little kid's running up to the Jetson enthusiastically, when your taking off or landing. There's nothing you could do to stop it from the inside of the craft... and then someone might reflexivity reach out to stop something running into the blades by reaching out their hand to stop them... right into the blades. It's a very cool prototype and does fly well, but if you really want to sell it to the general public, It just needs to be dummy proofed. Maybe redesigned with a roof structure that holds the propeller above the pilot, off the ground, higher than a toddler or a dog could get into. You could still have the four quadrants of propellers. That's a good design :)
@@AirplaneDoctor_ This type of craft's take off and landings should only be in an open area, such as a monitored small airport setting. In addition, if the pilot has some sort of caging or windshield to prevent them from being thrown into the blades in the event of a crash or poor landing, then the public would be better able to access this technology. But I would still feel better if this fell under the criteria of needing training hours to fly and a license. There is more to flying then just take offs and landings. There are electrical wires to be aware of also, both flying through clouds and flying at night are something that regular pilots have to have a higher level of license to be allowed to do. There are also airspace rules that the pilot needs to be aware of. Another commenter named "circleofowls" on another thread I was having a conversation with said, "I'd imagine that many of the existing rules for ultralight and light sport aircraft will already cover these or will need to be slightly adapted. A license would probably be a good idea." I agree with them. If we do as you said and "treat it like any other aircraft", then this craft should not be allowed to take off and land in someones back yard where kids, animals and other factors could cause tragedy.
Blocks of 20mins would be good enough for me, I’d get so excited and carried away I’d certainly fly outside my capabilities, still considering about what organs to sell so I can get one though.
There are a bunch of new fangled batteries "coming out soon" with way more recycles and faster charging. At the moment it's not affordable to fly these things (if you really want to have fun) cos of not enough recycles on the expensive batteries. I hope the new fanged batteries come out soon.
Airplanes don't have propeller guards, why should this? Honestly if you can't restrain yourself from jumping out of the cockpit while the motors are running you totally deserve the Darwin award.
@@SenseOfWonder2 That depends on local regulations obviously. Do you think that a guard around the edge of the blade makes this safe for kids to be near? That'd be like having four upside down lawnmowers running in your yard. Yes they all have guards around the blades but under no circumstances will these ever be remotely safe for children or anyone else to be in close proximity. Guards are just for show. If you want safety the landing area must be clear and secure while the motors are on.
