Hi Jo I totally agree with your explanation. Thank you, on my first trip to London in October 2017, I was very lucky, the weather was great, sunny and nice. It rained once.
It's amazing. Whenever I went to London, I wasn't able to understand anyone talking. I thought I was stupid. But when you talk, I can understand 99 %. Now I know the problem was not me but how londoners speak (very fast and maybe cockney).
Hi Joe, I totally agree with you 🙂 Two other stereotypes that come to mind are: 6) the British are very very reserved and detached 🤔 7) the British don't suffer the cold: they dress in light clothes even in winter 😊 Thanks very much, I like your lessons a lot 🙋
Well often young girls r used to dress very light at night i mean miniskirt n more i know is for show but not rarely i found them shivering in telephone booths ..snaps oh yeah drunk! But as already Mr.Jo said for teens things are a lil different tan the whole uk.
1) No, that's true 2) years ago the food was and but not now.I agree with you in Italy we have a strong cultural link to the food. In Egland I aprrecieted Pie and Mash 3) Yes, it's true they don't have the necessity 4) No, it's a problem only for young people 5) No, it's not true beetwen Milan and London. Thank you you Joe I understand and enjoy your video
1 - No, they don't. They drink it when they want. 2 - You think that years ago British food wasn't good 3 - Yes, you do agree people are ignorant in learning other languages even if it could be important to do it for a cultural enrichment. 4 - No. 5 . It isn't a big difference between England and Italy, but in summer I'll prefer to live in England... When I went there on holiday, weather was not as hot as here... Ciao Joe and thank you for this new lesson. Cristina
Hi Joe, therefore... 1) no, but during all the day 2) "yes", because is varius and comes from India,China, etc 3) yes, but because they are not need to learn (english is ww) 4) the younger people 5) Between Milan and London not much. (but if you choose Milan .... otherwise.... eh eh eh). Thanks to the Best Teacher 😉👍
Great job😉 explaining the culture, the different life style and so, it is one of the best way to catch the people attention and also let them fall in love with the language too...great job😉 Greetings from Milan, Italy 🙋🏼♀️
As usual very nice video lesson. Thank you Joe.. 1) the British people drink tea whenever they want, the tea break at five 'o clock is a cultural heritage of the old British noble families 2)No, you think 30, 40 years ago the British food was very bad, the quality of the food the early 1990s wasn't very good but now the quality is fantastic 3) You think that the British people don't have necessity to learn another language because English is the world language. You would love to see more people speaking another language. 4) No, you believe there is a big problem with young people, they drink too much and they can't control themselves. 5) No, there's not a big difference between Britain and Italy, but you have compared London to Milan, you should compare Glasgow to Palermo 😅🤣🤣
1) No, they don't. 2) No, you don't. 3) Yes, yuo think. 4) No, this is a problem that yuong people have. 5) the weather in Britain is not as different as I thought. ho risposto correttamente?

joe i've been studying english for a few months..thank you for your advice ... i really feel a bit lost..but i'd like to spend the summer improving..so in the meantime i follow your advice Thank you for your lessons which are beautiful and also incisive claudia
Since you live in Italy you'd be surprised to know that fruit (for instance in London) tastes JUST LIKE in the Continent! And there is many new import "channels". I am buying loads of Turkish stuff here in my aerea (Hendon) and it's suprisingly very tasty!
I live in England and I totally agree with you on each point. Actually, even in many cities in the south of Italy it rains more than in most of English cities. Thanks for the interesting video.
Hi Joe 😊 I am studing english and your videos are helping me a lot! They are clear and amazing, and you seems a very nice person. I love your way of explaining things. Thank you ❤
I am Italian, but I have always had a great admiration for England and its culture and traditions and their way of life and many Italians like me love England and live there. In fact, London is considered the fifth Italian city for number of inhabitants
Hello Joe, thanks you for this interesting topic. I try to answer : 1 No, it was a routine for noble peaple in the past 2 No, it has been good in the last decade due others food from all the world and increased controls after mad cuw desease 3 yes because they don't need to learn other language to communicate around the world. About English food I agree with you! In the pub I ate a great food. IMHO The meat is more good than in Italy. And the 🍰... 😋 English people generally is lazy about learning language. Lucky you English is the "franca" language. Do you know that in Italy during the time of " Repubbliche Marinare" ( Genova, my hometown, Pisa, Venezia e Amalfi) the "Genovese" was like English in the "world of trade" ?
Italian Country is beautiful, sunny and with a best traditional food. We are Italian since the beginning and we are strong for this reason. English people are different, they are lot of different people in one only country. Italian is Italian, always and everywhere, and I'm so proud of this. But we would have to be more linked to our country, we don't love our beauty, for us all is obvious, but it's no true!!! I love English for their respect to other people and other things, and english language is global because English people have open mind since a long time.
Hello teacher. Congratulations on your new interesting lesson. I seem to understand that drinking a mug of coffee ( a very long coffee) in England means to give value to the break and to human relationships. So, the English hurry ( especially in big cities) could be another stereotype. About the linguistic culture of English people, I think that American people are worst. I never hear an American speak Italian well. You, instead, speak very well. About the drinking and the youth, In Italy also we have a serious problem with alcoholism. In the wine country, the boys, in the dance clubs, often get drunk with spirits like whiskey or other drinks like. It's normal that in England there is a lot of different cookings because England has been an Empire and many countries have given their cultural contribution to the UK. However, I 'm going to listen to your lesson again to understand more. I like this kind of work. Thank you.
My two cents on this are that the hurry isn't different from the rest of the world but people do take away more often than us, for drinks like coffee as well
Thank you very much Joe. In my humble opinion one of important rule in my life is never judgment the other especially culture, habits and traditions. I love my country and I love United Kingdom as wel. Cheers
About stereotype number 4 I feel the urge to tell you that the pub culture is not inexistent in Italy, or at least not all Italy, in Perugia, where I grew up, I used to meet friends the same way as you said... and now, that I'm older, I'm a regular in a wine bar, not for the wine, but because even my friends go there so we spend there together some time after work chatting and exchanging opinions. I'd say that in Umbria there is some sort of Pub culture, which is really similar to the British one.
I'm italian but i lived in London for 2 years.I love so much England (Especially London )as you love Italy.I love sharp appointment 😄And i prefer english rules.Everybody give a chance to you about work ,giving the possibility to grow up Even if you don't speak english or it is a new job.I love the pubs and the smell inside of humid 😅.I love the food becouse there is a huge variety from everywhere. Now i m in Italy ..i left London more then 4 years ago and i miss so much.
Hallo Jo. I've understood everything about your speeking. You speak the best english I've never heard before. I usually listen to BBC radio, but I have a lot of difficult to understand them... I hope you are better now, after your operation bye Luca
You english are quaint people, often drunk, rather classist....but we love you so much......you are the best in Europe.....that's why left it😂😂😂. With love.....👍
1 No, It's not true. You drink coffee like we drink coffee. 2 Yes, you think that, thirty/forty years ago, food wasn't very good. 3Yes, British people don' t need to learn another language because English is spoken all over the world. 4 Mostly young people drink too much, may be because of strict rules. 5 No, there isn' t a big difference. I like British rain because it makes the grass and the countryside greener. I do agree with you! Thank you for your lessons.
Basically agree with you Sir about all sterotypes. But also in italy there are some. In 2011 I went to Douglas the main town of Isle of Man. Well, about food I've no doubts, it was no good nor accurate. Only beer was good and so much brewed all day long ! 😂🤟 You're simply the best teacher.
Bella lezione, interessante e divertente.
many italian don't speak foreign languages too.....i see that there are a lot of differences between italian and foreign people, when i'm in holiday i see that german and other foreign people speak well english with me but the italian people
infact i didn't say that my english is good...i was born in italy too and maybe you didn't understand what i wrote...that the italians people, including me too didn't learn english like the other foreign people as germany etc. i try speake and write in english in every way i try listen in english etc bye
I like that much your Only English videos! (is it correct "that much", or would it be better "so much"?). this time you probably spoke at a higher speed than in other videos and I appreciated. anyway you speak so clearly that listening is a pleasure. thanks a lot!
JoEnglish I have my in-laws there. We had to go in England for our second baby birth, but we couldn’t because of the lockdown. my mother in law is going to come at the end of June, hopefully. I miss England, and have my English classes too! I try to practice the listening with British cartoons (as postman pat and ben&holly little kingdom, you know 🤣) so I find your videos very helpful Thank you
JoEnglish yes it is a shame.... we have been organised for months and now it is not possible to go there. It is a pity also because my husband was born in Italy, his father was italian, so the baby is losing her possibility to have the British passport... Your son is fantastic, he seems my son when he corrects my pronunciation 🤣🤣
I'm going back to your previous lessons as I discovered you not long ago. I'm glad you made this one about stereotypes. I hate them. All of us ( from any country) should open our minds and base our judgments only on a direct experience if possible and not on rumors or hearsay.... Good job Joe.
I love England and your language and I undesrtand that English people don't have the necessity of other languages, but English should not make the other odioms vanish - because civilization and identity of other people could vanish, too. Globalization (not only in speaking, of course!) is a real problem nowadays and even more for the future. For the rest, I agree with you. I live in Italy, but I come from Normandy (the land of William the Conqueror !)... where the weather is more or less the same !
It's very interesting! I do agree with you,I really agree with your father about drinking coffee in the pub. When i first came to Italy, I just noticed that, and I couldn't understand why people after drinking coffee leaved immediately. It's really strange. As for English coffee, i've never been to England yet. Maybe some day. Thanks so much for telling us these pieces information.
Hallo Joe! I’m Nicoletta Lucci (Ginevra is the account name for RUclips). I loved this video, it’s interesting and hilarious. Here are my answers. 1. No, British people do not drink tea at 5 pm sharp. They drink it throughout the day. 2. No, in your opinion English food was actually rather bad back in the 80’s or 90’s, but now it’s very good and of the highest quality. Besides ethnic food is interesting and you like Indian food very much. 3. Yes, you think British people don’t know are languages because they do not need to, due to the fact that English is spoken all over the world. So, yes, it may be out of laziness and ignorance too. 4. Not really. Only the young people tend to drink too much and get drunk mostly because they are strictly prohibited to drink until they are about 16 or 17 or 18. So they are so much interested in alcohol out of reaction to the prohibition. 5. Not really. You made a comparison between London’s and Milan’s weather and the statistics are not hugely different. In London it’s a little colder and there are more rainy days than in Milan, but nothing impressive.
Good Morninhg Joe The answers are 1-The people in England , drink the tea when they want , the break at 5pm is a tradition of the past. 2- No and yes. The food in the past was very bad and you don't have a tradition and a culture of food. But the quality of meat and fish are very high now and the vegetables are different. 3- Yes, because english is the world language and you think is a 'problem ' because you would like to hear other people speaking another language. 4- Yes, the British people, especially , young people drink a lot of beer. 5- Yes, there is a big difference of the weather in two countries like the days of rains during the year , the temperatures and the light hours.
Hi Joe! 1) No. Years ago with really noble familes and posh families have an afternoon tea break at 5 o'clock but not anymore. 2) Yes and no. You think that food in Britain was very bad in 1980s the early 1990s, but now you don't think is true because the quality of food in England now is fantastic. A prove that the quality in England is increased is the news that The fat duck, an England restaurant, was the best restaurant in the world for few years. 3) You think the British people are ignorant about learning other languages because in England you don't have the necessity to learn a language because English is the world language. 4) It's true at 50%. In England the young people can't drink until you are 16 or 18 and then young people go crazy and drink too much, but there is the other side of the coin, the responsibility when you drink that is how the pub culture should be seen in Britain but, in your opinion, the young people are ruining the reputation. 5) After you've done a researched comparing London and Milan you evidenced that there'isnt the difference that people think. Grazie per la lezione sempre molto interessante.
I wouldn't have given Milan 1 point for the hotter Summer...it is not an advantage sometimes ahaha 😂 However it's a very interesting video! Thank you :)
I do aree switch you! I like some things of English people: tea ( I like very much ), the preference of English people about little independent cottage in towns, traffic in London that is very silent, love of English people for Nature, habit of English people to go to the country in Sommer, English houses with fireplace... I' m sorry for mistaken!
Fatemi sapere!! Siete d'accordo?
Great!
Why did you compare London to Milan? Try to compare London to Naples or Palermo :D
@@bogigino just 2 cities I chose...

I regret not having a photo of that but few weeks ago I've seen a guy walking in his flip flops with - 5 in west midlands... So definitively true
Learning a foreign language opens your mind and gives you the possibility to know other cultures and traditions.
Exactly!!

NICE lesson!
Hi joe I really agree with you, I love the way you teach english to the italians....your lessons are funny and useful.....
Go back!
Hallo Jo. I've understood everything about your speeking. You speak the best english I've never heard before. I usually listen to BBC radio, but I have a lot of difficult to understand them...
I hope you are better now, after your operation
bye Luca
Bella lezione!
You english are quaint people, often drunk, rather classist....but we love you so much......you are the best in Europe.....that's why left it😂😂😂. With love.....👍
You.....I missed it. Bye
😱😱 🤣🤣
Thank you so much Jo!
I understand all words and I’m looking for new words immediately!
🙏❤️
Nods agrees.
Great video
Excellent video, and I happen to agree 110% to it :-)
1 No, It's not true.
Excellent!
Basically agree with you Sir about all sterotypes. But also in italy there are some. In 2011 I went to Douglas the main town of Isle of Man. Well, about food I've no doubts, it was no good nor accurate. Only beer was good and so much brewed all day long ! 😂🤟
You're simply the best teacher.
😊👍👍thanks!
Good job Joe!
Thanks very much 👍👍💪
Bella lezione, interessante e divertente.
Hello!
Ho già fatto quei video....
You English... are Great!
many italian don't speak foreign languages too.....i see that there are a lot of differences between italian and foreign people, when i'm in holiday i see that german and other foreign people speak well english with me but the italian people
I mean... I'm no teacher but your english is not that great either
infact i didn't say that my english is good...i was born in italy too and maybe you didn't understand what i wrote...that the italians people, including me too didn't learn english like the other foreign people as germany etc. i try speake and write in english in every way i try listen in english etc bye
Many Italians don't even speak Italian despite almost everyone has at least a high school degree. Even the newspapers are full of mistakes !
I like that much your Only English videos! (is it correct "that much", or would it be better "so much"?). this time you probably spoke at a higher speed than in other videos and I appreciated. anyway you speak so clearly that listening is a pleasure. thanks a lot!
Thank you!! You can say ‘so much’ or ‘very much’ but they are a bit formal - it is better to say ‘I really like...’ 👍👍
@@JoEnglish ok. thanks!
you are a fantastic teiacher
Very interesting and even amusing. You’re a well balanced person 👏
I Miss england so much 😔😔 i’m looking forward to return there
THANK YOU
Hello!! Did you live there? Or go on holiday??
JoEnglish I have my in-laws there. We had to go in England for our second baby birth, but we couldn’t because of the lockdown. my mother in law is going to come at the end of June, hopefully.
I miss England, and have my English classes too! I try to practice the listening with British cartoons (as postman pat and ben&holly little kingdom, you know 🤣) so I find your videos very helpful
Thank you
@@piddusina Fantastic!! It's a shame about not going to England... I'm pleased my videos help!! Thanks
@@piddusina Oh of course - losing the passport is a shame!
Thank you, Joe!
Pleasure! Thanks for watching!! 👍
I agree whith you!! unfortunately the tomatoes in England haven't flavor... it would take more sun 😊
Yes! And there’s no sun in England!!
@@JoEnglish Isn't that a stereotype? 😉 Summers can get pretty hot in England
Stick to cherry tomatoes, they're a reasonably acceptable compromise
Grazie.
😊💪 great!!
I'm going back to your previous lessons as I discovered you not long ago. I'm glad you made this one about stereotypes.
I hate them.
All of us ( from any country) should open our minds and base our judgments only on a direct experience if possible and not on rumors or hearsay....
Good job Joe.
💪💪👍
Che bella lezione 🤩
💪👍
Fantastic!! Excellent 💪💪👍
Good Morninhg Joe
The answers are
1-The people in England , drink the tea when they want , the break at 5pm is a tradition of the past.
Hi joe thank's for your lesson it help me but Do you have sugguest for improve my conversation?
I have a video to help you improve speaking... have a look... ruclips.net/video/0btrP62LzIs/видео.html
Hi Joe!
Excellent!! 💪
I wouldn't have given Milan 1 point for the hotter Summer...it is not an advantage sometimes ahaha 😂 However it's a very interesting video! Thank you :)
True!
yes, I agree, we must then dispel the stereotypes that I think concern past times and ways, times are changing and so are the situations
I'm fully agree ! it was interesting ;)
Thanks!! I’m pleased you liked it 👍👍
I do aree switch you!
I like some things of English people:
tea ( I like very much ), the preference
of English people about little
independent cottage in towns,
traffic in London that is very silent,
love of English people for Nature,
habit of English people to go
to the country in Sommer,
English houses with fireplace...
I' m sorry for mistaken!
I didn' t read my written, excuse me.
I wrote that I do agree with you!
